No it wouldn't, because if rank 90 guild came across this build it's on rank 90's guild hall. On anything other than Jade, Imperial or Fire this build really struggles. If rank 90 is fighting on one of thsoe maps they're either psike or maybe thumper pressure on fire and will probably just get outspiked. Or they are idiots.

I think he meant it's nice to know they aren't invincible. That or he's a racist.
I personally believe that it should be possible to split effectively on all maps against spike, non more so than others. If you can ever legitemately say "We would've won if it wasn't that map" then they need to be looked at.

If that's true, I think it's fine. But I was under the impression that one could change the map between game 1 and 3, therefore EW could have run a heavy split on frozen isle in the 3rd game.
Can someone explain the rules to me:
are you forced to play game 3 on the same map you played game 1 or can you switch maps in between?

Seeing this thread develop, I have to disagree with the current method of championship maps. It makes the idea of an undistputed champion much less clear - I personally don't think map tricks should have anything to do with any tournament.
That said, there is a difference between map tricks and tactics. Even so, I would like to see a map designed specifically for the tournament - something balanced and simple, which all teams have prior knowledge of. If it isn't implied through the whole tournament, it should be at least applied in the final match. This, I feel, would make the winner indesputable, and prevent teams from abusing their home maps.
I'm not sure how realistic it is, but I think Anet should strongly consider my proposal.

Both teams have to pick their map before game 1 of the match. They can't change it between rounds. If game 1 is on Imperial Isle, game 3 is going to be on it as well.

That held true for the original GWWC, but no longer for GWFC. The guild halls can now be changed in between rounds.

I dislike seeing one team always winning so good to see them NOT win. I'm a sucker for the underdog.

I like the rules Ensign describe much better. As the higher seeded guild you get the advantage to play game 3 on your map, but this map is no surprise to your enemy, so they can prepare.
The "new" rules though seem to me a bit unfair.
For example:
EW ran FoC on game 1 which rolled iB.
iB rolled EW in game 2, because they surprised EW with map+build choice.
Now game 3 - if EW can again surprise iB with for example a heavy split on the icy isle - I think it is unfair, because if the mind game is played well by EW, iB stands no chance.
They cannot prepare a very strong 8on8 build, because they have to be able to compete with a heavy split on an other map too. They can't bring an allround build because EW has the option to run a gimmick build on any map they like.
(The names are just an example - no offense against EW or iB)
Why did they change the rules? The old system seemed pretty fine to me. (you can prepare for the map in game 3, which leads to a more balanced battle with slight advantage for the higher seeded guild, because they chose the map)

The latest game update removed the thief from Imperial Isle. Interesting.

I feel that that is how Anet dealed with the finals. Very good move on their point because it makes the public happy and doesn't destroy Necro spike builds.
Edit: Spoke too soon check it out:

Well, it is sitll probably possible to run a nice necro spike. You will just have only like half the energy to heal and spike with.

Well Gaile does listen to WoC.
Anyways ranger spike and other spikes are still viable on that map so I appreciate Anet reacting to it, but maybe the loss of the guild thief will allow splitting or it may be the same thing in the next tournament.

gg anet on the updates: necrospike is playable but not hugely overpowered now, the lack of a guild thief means that a split is a very viable option on imperial isle now.
