It's been a pleasure GvGing with you guys; you make an effort, and that is all that counts.

Teaching others is always a wonderful and worthwhile experience, as long as those who are being taught are willing to be taught, to listen and to take in your advice. JR if you ever need help, I would be willing to lend you a hand. Feel free to PM me in game for more info if you ever see me on. Either way, if my current guild doesn't work out, I will either be taking a break from guild wars, or making a guild oriented around teaching people PvP.

I did this for a while back in the day. I must say that it was very worthwhile for everyone involved, but once my own guild and real life started taking up all of my time, I couldnt really spare much for other guilds. That said, good show JR. If you ever need another player to help out, you know my IGN.

Nice, but Deadly would love to have a very skilled player comment on our play.
We have been as high as about 200 (a little while ago now) as low as 3 or 4000. Right now we are clawing our way back up and are at 700 odd now. We have a small core of regular players and we try to specialize in a role.
We are competitive, but do value fun and honor over winning. We will listen if we get advice and we do work pretty hard at doing what we say we want to do.
You can get a good idea of our guild, style and inclination at our forums. Everything (except membership stuff) is public. I'll shoot you a tell in game, see what you think.
Cheers,
pin

I won't examine too closely your desire want to know how we define honor. I do understand that at some point one might have to choose between honor and a desire to win. It hasn't happened yet, but when it does, we won't bat an eyelid. We'll choose honor.
Hope that doesn't invalidate our expression of interest.
=============
This part might be OT.
This an off the cuff answer. Its roughly what I think.
To me honor means that people will respect us because of our actions.
Since your question is somewhat brief I'll give you some hypotheticals. We will be friendly in the face of rudeness. We would use smiting because a good build had been found for it, but not exploit a trick that allowed us to enter GvG with 12 players. We would kill the enemy if they had one player error 7, but would kill their player if he was stuck in the hill so he could escape etc. If we entered a battle against a team that we knew we could provoke to error by insulting them we would not do so. We might copy another teams builds if we liked it and wanted to play it. We wouldn't remove a mid level member if a new very strong prospect wanted to join but required them out.
Its a subjective thing and means different things to different guilds and probably even different things to our membership.

I like the idea, it can sort of help out the newbs.
Thing is, if they are newbs in the first place, and they act like it, you have a problem.
Go for it

I agree with those morales. I was just wondering if you were going to define honor as not playing "lame" builds, or not spiking or not splitting or something like that.

Unfortunately, we have played our share of lame builds ;-)
We have spiked, but we are interested in balanced builds at the moment. We have played builds with various inclinations to split. Where, how and when to split is one of the things we are struggling with a bit at the moment.

You should really put a timezone or a time there just to indicate when you are free, as I'm sure you're not free 24 hours a day... (I hope not at least..) There's always a chance that Asian based guilds might be interested and so it's always better to state things clearly imo.

It was one of the questions I asked via the PM sent out today, enquiring as to the timezone of interested guilds. Any timezone is fine for me on weekends, but not so much during the week.

Out of curiosity, JR, what time zone are you?
I think this is a wonderful idea. There are guilds out there that are highly inclined to get better, but might be overlooking the avenues (tactics, build, people) that are needed to get them there.
Guesting a skilled player that has been experienced with “Top 20” ladder teams would only serve to improve a group of individuals willing to take in the advice.
I commend you for doing so and I hope Vindexus decides he might find interest in it too. His reputation is nothing to “sneeze” at.

But if everyone starts getting better, what does that mean to everyone else who is already 'better', do they have to get even betterier ?
Thats just too much bettering for lil ol' me.
I think after you do this service, you'll be more experienced than anyone in instructing new GvGers. You should make a post listing the recurring problems which affect many guilds trying to improve, give tips and suggestions and some builds and their purpose. Use this before you help a guild and you'll probably save yourself a bit of work explaining the basics

Some players are just terrible, even after hours and hours of playing they still don't understand the very basics. The game is all about your own character to them, team work is unheard of.
But on the plus side some players are very good and have no trouble picking up game mechanics with their first experience with them.
I've tried a similar thing to what you're doing within the aus/nz community JR. I hope you are a really patient person. Having tried to teach that first group of people how to attack a called target and how to chain skills etc etc, and them not getting it, I gave up. Maybe I'm just a bad teacher though :P
Best of luck to all involved.

Hey JR,
Alcaras of the Jade Sea Pirates here. I've guested with you in the Pug GvGs in eBay and Ex
Our track record is here:
http://www.team-iq.net/forums/ladder...e&territory=Am
At the moment of this posting, we're:
246th The Jade Sea Pirates Jade Am 1167 78-63
I'd love if you'd be able to guest with us and offer any commentary/advice you might have. The balance build we've most recently worked with (going on a 9 game win streak before all these triple smite/RI spike gimmicks took over) is here:
http://forums.subcreation.net/viewtopic.php?t=683
The highest rank we've been is 123; we'd love to be able to break into the top 100 and be able to maintain that rank. We're very willing to listen and learn; the entire ethos of our guild is built around intelligent gaming (for fun, but with a strong desire to always be improving).
Those are also our forums; if you sign up there I can give you access to our members-only area.
We typically play between 8pm to 1 am eastern, though lately we have been starting around ~10 pm eastern.
Cheers,
Alc.
