Since it hasn't been covered yet.
If you are the target/tactics caller (Note some guilds seperate these because it's alot to manage) , you have additional responsibilities you need to "read" the build, this includes looking for skills that cause you problems.
Make a determination which monk is stronger in order to priortize killing him first. Noting which toons have evasion stances. Spiking when the flag runner is pushing for cap. Calling spilts. Noting who has bad battlefield postioning.
Making the mental calculation as to what gives you the best chance score kills. When to push for morale boosts.

I'd also like to add that you should have the moral window open at a corner just to keep an eye on.
Of course.
#1 is radar + positioning
#2 is health (inc party members) + energy
#3 is enemy skill usage (to try pre-empt hexes and whatnot)
#4 is capture times (although this can be delegated to the runner)

If you're the leader or spike caller or whatever, it helps to keep an eye on timers. Spiking someone down right before a res is a devasting tactic.
Flag runners need to keep a close watch on the timer. They can then relay critical information such as the above, or how long until morale, to the rest of the team.

playin GW is great for gettin up your GW PvP speed, but what you really need is to drink 2 bottles of JOLT and play an afternoon of UT2004. you git your eyes and reactions going so fast, its unbelievable.
THEN sit down on GW, drink another bottle o JOLT, and start playin.
i aint joking kiddies, it works.

Absolutely loving the content of this thread. Honestly, I always seem to be more on the "reactive" side of PvP, since I was focusing more on the party window and the radar. I had no idea that actually watching the players on the battlefield can buy you that extra split second that can flip you from being reactive to proactive.
Excellent suggestions, all...keep 'em coming! Is there some sort of PvP guide that is available that incorporate some of these thoughts? It would be invaluable to those that are used to playing the in PvE landscape...

Your statement seems to be more about monks with respect to the party window and proactive vs. reactive. However, I feel that every class in the game should be played proactively rather than reactively. As a warrior or a ranger or a support caster, it is still best to pay attention to the party window as well in addition to player position (my team and the opposition) and the skills being used (visually and by sound). Paying some attention to your party window as a non-monk player can allow you to read how a battle is going and help you make better decisions about your upcoming moves. The more your whole team starts to think proactively rather than reactively, the better the team gets and the stronger their capacity to outplay their opposition becomes.
I use the party window as a warrior to determine things like whether to use shock offensively or defensively at a given point in time, how much I can overextend or how much I can frenzy (though a lot of this has to do with opponent positioning), determining whom on the opposition to pressure at a given time, which skills on the opposing team are giving my monks problems to better determine tactic and target calling, and much more.
Pretty much, I pay attention to the same set of things whether I am playing monk, warrior, or any other class. It is merely the amount of attention on various aspect that alters depending upon the class I am playing.

Absolutely true. In my guild, if a warrior or caster dies, that person is usually the one to apologize. Every character has to take responsibility in understanding the current battle situation and their role in it.
For instance, if you see the monks getting harrased and hexed up, as a warrior, you pull back and beat the enemy off of them; you don't keep chasing that mesmer that is at a quarter life. Because if you overextend a bit and get spiked out, that's your fault, not the monks. And even if you don't die, you'll have eaten up a precious amount of monk energy that they are probably going to be short on for someone else very soon...
And dont think for a minute that the warrior is exempt from knowing these things even though he's at the front of the line swinging a hammer - that's what seperates the good warriors from the average.

I say playing on a comfy bed is great, seeing all of my GW career playing was on a bed with the laptop :X.
Also, POSITION POSITION POSITION, and it revolves around all professions.
