Touch Rangers becoming redicously overused in AB...
The luxon side appears to be getting quite cheeky with their team builds recently. Touch rangers all over the place........
EVERY alliance battle I've been in today has had at least 2 of these guys running around going doo-lally on whoever they could get their paws on. Since the build is hard to counter outside traps/wards (not a really common thing in AB) it's just been spreading like wildfire.
The last alliance battle I had even yielded a whole freaking team of them.
If it keeps up you can bet A-net will nerf this.

I've seen tons of Kurzicks with touch rangers too, so its not just Luxon.

i take it you werent there when 9 out of 12 kurzicks were touch rangers then, it really got annoying. Yes you can evade and run, but still, its annoying.

One cripple shot ranger can make up for three touch rangers. It's not that hard at all to counter them. They are incrediblly weak against kiting and cripple. Stacking conditions on them while they're chasing someone is also really effective. They are hardly infallible. The only reason there being used so much is that they are incredibly easy to use.

I'm glad there are more touch rangers - through trial by fire I hope we end up with better teams, because it's pretty boring when I never drop below 40 energy as a monk...

Hehehe, I remember when Touch Rangers were called Fake Voodoo[sp?]-Priests (mine "puppet" ) months ago or Necros even arrogantly stated nobody would match them in their primary profession. Now that they hit a certain popularity they're overpowered? Geeeeez...

The only place where touch rangers are ridiculously overpowered is alliance battles. In GvG or TA you can rely on your teammates to help you take a touch ranger out. However due to the randomness of Alliance Battles and the focus on capping points there is no really good strategy to beat them especially if your team has no monk or if you're a melee character. Yes you can run away like a pansy and live, but that means you'd be giving up that point that you spent the last 5 minutes trying to cap. Personally I'd like the vamp touch skills to get a bump in energy cost and recharge time. When touch rangers first came out in prophecies it was a clever use of the expertise attribute. Now with so many people abusing this build in one of the critical new additions of Factions it's time for A-Net to step in and balance this.

Anyone ever think about dropping them with degen? Apply+Crippshot ftw? Even if they cap the point, you can kill them all and cap it back, then move up to another point.
I also hope this will mean better teams, and better teamwork. Or anet could just decide to nerf them because people refuse to improve...

I like them. Eventually they should encourage a stronger showing from mesmers / non-minion necros to counter them.
Pretty soon I'm going to have to start running a bluff R/N. Have all the warriors run away from me while I pelt them with arrows or have my pet attack them. :P

Any ranger that is not using any secondary skills should go R/N to try and throw the opposition off of their build. I used to have my 'pure' warriors do the same -- go W/N so that the opposition immediately thinks they are using plauge touch.

Well, FYI, When there are 7 on your tail, (Which has happened to me...) Kiting doesn't exactly work, because the second they get melee, you are dead.
And Hexes only afflict one, and They remove cripple, so they are a pretty resilliant build.

Not sure, but I think that touch rangers go through SB since they're not using spells but skills.

Kiting? Good monk? Sorry but just an hour ago in TA my team encountered 4 touch rangers on lava map. We barely won, on sudden death. It was like 4:5 in the end. Good monk cant do much about it trust me. And kiting? Sure we do kite alot, but they use Dodge+Zojoun or whatever is the name of it. So basically 2 speed boosts. I have none.
Those who say 'play cripple ranger' = sorry but Dodge+Zojoun means that your 1 cripple ranger vs 4 touches wont really do as much as you hope. In theory ofc.
ps: they are skills, SB does nothing. Diversion is worse for touch.

cripshot can't be blocked or evaded.... however you will have issues with only being able to keep 2-3 crippled.

If you have 7 of anything on your tail, you're boned. Good thing is, you've nullified 7/12 members of the opposing team SOLO by kiting. The other 11/12 of your team can take 5/12 of theirs, yes? ;p
Anyway. enough's been said about touch rangers in the 6(? maybe 7) other topics about them... I'm done. No point discussing them any further, the "reasons" why they need nerfing have all been shot down. Whether or not you accept it is up to you.

snares is the key
crippling shot ranger with 15 min expertise is more then enough to keep back as many touch rangers they throw at you, having a recurve bow is a must.
