The future of AB!
There are alot of feelings about this... and questions about their place in nightfall! ABs(Alliance Battles) have long been a hot topic, I understand this, but with Nightfall just months away from release the question must come up again..
What do you think of Alliance Battles in the grand scheme of things?
Pick an option(hope i got most covered) ;
1)It's fine as it is.
2)It's cool, but would like to see it expanded into Prophercies and Nightfall and other campaigns...
3)The system is okay, but has some design flaws
4)It's total crap, and needs to be scrapped and forgot about. made the game worse.
5)Good idea on paper but execution is bad. System needs to be re-designed from the ground up

3. I don't really like it that much. I'd rather it have less restrictions on who you're fighting for. Sure, it makes less sense, but it makes gaining faction much easier when it comes to befriending a side that you aren't alligned with.

3: I think it just needs a few tweaks (case in point; EoE BiP bombers, if thats what they are called) and it should be fine.

3: Design flaws
All I want is to put the other 8 people under 'allies' and allow you to enter individually and it'll be as good as it was on the FPE weekend, which was just plain fun, without the ability to exploit party wide skills like Aegis and Heal Party on 12 people.

have anet even said there's gonna be anything like Luxion vs Kurzick in Nightfall? cause if there isn't then there's no reason for AB at all.

4 - It's crap and was only put in to try to hide the fact that Factions is an even bigger piece of crap.

2 - Love AB,...great deal of fun playing with a bunch of people. Hadn't seen many of the problems I see many groan about, with the exception of the afkers.

Also, 2 - so far I'm having fun.
Some might argue it's not true PvP format and there's no strategy involved, but I like it the way it is. Huge slaughterfest, loads of fun. And you can still split to cap, fight in small groups, etc.
Agreed to tweak/expand it further. Hate AFK'ers/griefers, but hey...

1. It's decent, and the afkers/bots/exploiters/leachers are just something you have to accept. It's too much effort on behalf of ANet to fix something so trivial. After all, a team would not take such a person with them in the next round.
However, I would not like to see a similar mass-battle between factions in later campaigns. It spawns too much hatred and rivalry between gamers, and generlly spoils the fun.

I like it alot, but:
3) Now that Anet is tweaking the momentum, the heavy advantage/disadvantage maps make one design flaw very obvious. One side WILL always outnumber the other in number of players who want to join and with only 2 sides fighting each other the side with more players will get huge wait times. This was already noticable on Saltspray Beach, where as a Kurzick wait times are always long (more kurzicks join as the map is perceived as easy, and less luxons join because they perceive it as harder), and with Grenz wait time was even longer. Can't imagine the wait time for the Kurzick stronghold map for kurzicks, but I imagine it's huge.
So imo the design flaw, only 2 factions, has made the wait times a problem that is here to stay. If they had incorperated 3 factions one side would have had to have more players wanting to do ab then the other 2 sides combined before this is a problem (sure people would wine 'we're only fighting the luxons, i want to fight the kurzicks sometime!!' if they belonged to faction number 3 and the luxons would have a huge group of players).

Unless Anet comes up with some type of new rivalry within Nightfall, I'm pretty sure AB will die out along with Factions after the next release. Of course, people will still play Factions (people still play Prophecies now), but I'm assuming that AB will be for Faction players only, and have no influence or use within Nightfall whatsoever...
