Dual Smite Alliance Battle Video :D
This was Fraps'd yesterday, and represents my new found passion for Alliance Battles in GW: Factions.
<Video of Dual Smite Alliance Battle>
General Strategies:- Capturing Points ASAP, and localizing battles on opposing points, and making sure every teammate is in range of the cap.
- Be Aggressive! This wins battles, not grouping together to kill the one minionmaster (those people really need to stop spamming those horrible orders over local chat).
- Constant speed buffs. We are able to keep the entire team speed buffed with 2 Charges on the warriors (who are also carrying sprint) and keeping either sprint on the monks. This gives you the advantage of capping more shrines in a shorter amount of time. Mobility is key in Alliance battles.
- Avoid Cluster Fights. Generally, all teams of four should be going their own way, capturing shrines, and should avoid groups of 2 or more teams of enemies (of you could play a little gingerbread man and fool them into chasing the one overextended warrior with 2 speed buffs ).
- Use the NPC's! Make sure the warrior takes the offensive NPCs (the Saltspray Hatchling and Elite Elementalist) while the Monk grabs the Elite Warrior, Res Orb, and Shielding Urn. These give a great advantage to your groups, leaving your opponent that doesn't in the dust.
We were running 2 Warriors (each with a snare, Charge, Sprint, and damage skills) and 2 Air of Enchantment Smiters (utilizing Blessed Aura). The amount of matches we have won is near the 10:1 ratio (if not better), simply due to our supreme flexibility and maneuverability. Being able to split your group of 4 can be VERY advantagous for defending, attacking, and neutralizing all at once.
My advice: grab the Air of Enchatment elite, and have some fun with it before the Nerf Stick grabs ahold of it. These are some of the most memorable moments for me in PvP
This video was hosted by a new CM on the GW Basin boards, Maveric; and captured by a real close friend of mine from the guild PIE, Kisst. Thanks for all the work in putting this together guys biggrin.gif

Hi,
I dont usually play monks at all, and in pvp even more rarely. But I happened to have captured Air of Enchant.. with my N/Mo the other day so I thought I'd try out your build. Soo much fun spamming those free prot spells with zealots fire up. I'm running with 12 / 12 / 12 Divine Favor / Prot / Smite atm and having a great time.
Don't know why this flavor build isnt allllll over the place in alliance battles by now. Thanks for posting the vid.

Yeah i just watched this video, pretty amazing stuff. No doubt tho will the AoE get knocked around by the nerf stick. Definite advantage was the mobility of the team in a whole, nice work on that.

hmm, i don't think Air of Enchament is gonna be nerfed personally. It doesn't have much use except in quite specialized builds. (due too the "other" ally wording)
i'm pretty sure ANet knew people would be smiting with it.

The warriors bring Charge, Sprint, a snare(Hamstring is good), Heal Sig and any other 4 skills you want. Damage is best for those last ones although anything you want is fine (extra defense isn't a horrible idea).
I can attest to the effectivness of this build having run it with Kisst and Eternal from PIE. The hit and run is brilliant and even if you have to fight a group of 4 they usually die quickly, with or without a monk.

both of the monks are smite monks? Has anybody run into problems where the monks are killed? I tried an air of enchantment monk in RA and I found the lack of good healing troublesome.

thats because the air of enchantment smite monks suck in RA.
They only work to their full potential in HA.

I ran this smite in AB a while ago, worked quite well but i never got to try it out with a coordinated team. Works quite well, as long as you have someone to smite off.
With mine I ran Windborne Speed to allow the target to chase better (if your in a proper team then the person you're smiting off should bring a speed boost though, bit its useful if you're not). I also took Contemplation of Purity, which helped a lot.

Kisst X is his in game name, he capped and put the video together.
This was a good, but not one of our best runs we have had There are a few others we have capped for humor, but we are keeping them to ourselves due to a degree of respect for other guilds.
I was running the warrior, and the key is mobility. Having Sprint, Charge and some kind of snare (I still prefeer either caltrops or shock) is the utmost important thing in alliance battles. We also equip our monks with a sprint or dash (Dash seems to work better). The rest of my warrior skill bar isn't too far off from a typical EvIL sword warrior - Frenzy, Sever Artery, Gash, and Final Thrust for the damage part, along with Heal sig for when you need the heals that the prot cannot support.
The best part of this dual-smite is the ability for it to split. There are times when your team gets followers, and this definately calls for a split. Each pair works very efficiently on their own. Ventrillo/TS allows the monk to say: "Get this pesky assassin off of me!", so we go there and take him down in a second.
A tip for the smiter: make sure to keep smiting off of the warrior, and only heal yourself when absolutely needed. The warrior and the damage you output through him IS your defense - a dead opponent is a good opponent Much better to have them laying on the group, recovering energy, than sustaining that opponent for several minutes.

My guild runs the dual smite in Alliance Battles a lot, and I have to admit it works very well, as the wars seem to cut through the opposition like butter. With holy damage doubled vs Minions etc, Minion Master hordes aren't a problem either.
Good stuff
