You guys really shoudn't be bashing Unko. He really is an exxtremely skilled player, especially in TA. Having played with him more times that I'd like to think about, I think I would be in a position to know (and him being in my guild).
And yes it's true that Unko now only TAs occasionally. If you knew him before, he literally TA'd constantly. He TA'd so effing much that he started falling asleep at the keyboard when we played. He would also eat while TAing >_<.
So yes I do guess that he grinded it a lot, but he is one of the better/best TA players, no doubt.
EDIT: Okay I give it to you, your not actually bashing Unko, but you're getting close to bashing gladiators in general.
BTW, Unko does live in Asia, I think Korea or Japan or something IIRC. He just palys on our servers with us because he's 1337 like that, and also because he's always awake during our play times.

I respect that Unko didn't earn his points in RA, as I've seen him in TA battles many times in the past.
I won't comment on his skill, as that's not the point of this thread. As I said, rank = time spent, not skill. It's equivilent to farming, a rich farmer doesn't mean anything in terms of skill.
Congrats.

It's true that rank is attained through grind and time spent, but spending time at something brings experience, and with experience comes competency. Even a player who's gained his rank through IWAY will be good at running IWAY (yes, there is such thing as a good IWAY).

i want to see someone with the Kind Of A Big Deal title. Haveing to stretch yourself to the top tier of 5 different titles is a challenge, especially when plenty of them seem impossible (i.e. top-tier gladiator, etc) though there are titles you can ebay for yourself, such as Drunkard and its line.
BUt show me KoaBD and i'll take a second look.

Well, I've seen one or two people with KoaBD, but Unko is the only person we know of that has r6 glad.

this is the silliest thing ever come on, you cant just "grind" to rank 9 like how can get glad points
sure there is gimmicks like iway and bloodspike that some use to get most of their fame but RA/TA is much worse

ROFL. getting r6 glad is very very hard. Especially if you play during peak hours, you'll meet many good TA teams including many of the guilds named in the Who dominates TA thread.

IMO lol
I agree with whoever said tier 6 glad > r9. I've seen a few tier 5 glads hanging out in TA. Some coincidentally enough from the guild TA . Eat as well. But tier 6? That's impressive.
And to you say you can't grind your way to r9 is wrong. There are many things you can run to just get fame. Heck, you could honestly get r9 with henchway if you "grinded it out" for a long time.

yea, my point was that rank 6 gladiator is better coz its more rare/unique than any other title, for now.
nothing to do with iway or any other dialogue of scrubs

i have a sense of how hard it is, i already have about 100 and could easily get more at will, it just does not compare to getting fame at will.

Gladiator could be farmed some time ago and also during the double faction weekend in the zaishen arena. I know people who farmed their r5 in those 2 days last event. So I can't attach much value to this title... another title wasted due bugs.
Still... much respect to those who played their title the normal way

It's all the same thing.. it takes about 3 months to get r9 in HA, and it took unko 3 months to get r6 glad...
I'm not bashing his dedication or titles at all, I'm saying that arenas is the lowest pvp in guildwars, and plz don't tell me HA is lower... there is no holding in RA/TA, there are 2 priest maps, and its FOUR not teams of eight and never 8v8v8.
personally i think glad titles should be TA only.. that would bring the level of comp. for the title up since there are many "TA only" guilds now.

But the thing is that TA doesn't limit you like HA does. In HA you HAVE to have these skills to keep your ghostly alive, and these skills to interrupt their ghostly, and these skills to kep your ghostly from interruption, and then you got to fit damage in there to.
And then on top of that you ahve to have enough counters for IWAY and all the other gimmicks that run rampant, and then on TOP OF THAT you ahve to have enough defense to stay alive while under attack from two teams.
Blah, please no. In TA it's a straight deathmatch, which makes it so that individual skill and build determines the outcome, nothing else. In TA you aren't screwed over by luck.

I agree with the whole glad points only in TA. Or at least seperate titles, however it's quite obvious to any above average TA player that you aren't giving TA close to enough credit. As Mephisto (lol is that supposed to be off of the dude from South Park?) said, there really isn't any "lucky" in TA. It's all about individual skill, team communication, team unity, and build.

This is very true, I do remember seeing somebody as a monk in HA (in the waiting area). Then within the hour I went to TA and went in. After awhile I saw this same guy. He was playing boon/prot (that's what he was in HA as well) and he was quite bad at it. My thumper took him down in about 2-3 chains.
Just because somebody is really good at one thing, doesn't mean they are good at others.
Like Brehon for example...argueably one of the best HA players in the game...probably not however one of the great pve players (not sure, just assuming ).
Again r6 glad>r9HA
