Boon Proting in a Hex Environement
How are you Boon Prots dealing with hexes these days? I'm tires of these 6 hex stacks. I haven't play PvP much since last Christmas, so I'm a bit behind.

if you're actually one of those people still running a boon prot in arenas then either an expel hexes or convert e/mo go hand and hand with one and is pretty much a requirement. Otherwise look into running a blessed light healer/prot.

You don't have to do everything yourself. Let a midline (or even front line) bring hex removal such as Expel Hexes, Convert Hexes, etc.

nice.
regardless, a blessed light monk has much better hex control than a boonprot.

w8, Blessed Light is a Faction's skill? Do I have to buy Faction in order to get it? If so that's lame Anet advertised a bunch that I could remain competitive WITHOUT buying the additional chapters

anyone doing serious pvp should realize that in order to stay competitive, you need access to all skills. Boon prots are still very relevant in metagame, but blessed light monks are bleeding into the meta. Most standard gvg builds have a boon and a bl monk these days, and gvg without an extinguish....well I don't even want to think about it

I specifically remeber a podcast interviewing one of the people at Anet, and he said that you didn't need to get the updates to stay competitive. I'll have to find that podcast, but it said alright. All that talk about you can take 6 months off, log on, and your char would still be competitive cause of all the skill balances.
They also said you wouldn't have to spend much time grinding but that wasn't true either.

Well, you can easily still play a competetive boonprot currently. It's jsut that many builds are more effective when used with other chapters. IF you want to play boonprot, get an expel mesmer or a convert emo like the others have said.

How has nobody mentioned Contemplation of Purity yet?
If you have a hex stack on yourself, just stack on every enchantment you have and hit the magic button. Given that you have Guardian, Boon, Reversal and probably something else, that's four hexes gone right there.

Yeah, CoP has saved me a bunch of times. Skillz like CoP and Inspired Hex are great cause it's like 3 skills in one; they don't cost much energy; and they have fast casting times.

And not only with CoP do you lose 3-4 hexes, but you lose the same amount of conditions AND you gain 200 (or so) health.

Yeah, like I said it's like 3 skillz in one. I wonder when Anet will nerf it?

I'm not one to flame but I hear this alot and it's stupid.
You can remain competitive, anet did mention several times that it would not raise the level cap or introduce anything in the new chapters which would throw off the balance and put other players at a serious disadvantage. That being said, it is rediculous to assume they would not add new skills in the new chapters, and it's pretty lame to complain about it. New skills are one of the main reasons alot of people buy the newer chapters, but in reality anet makes sure that you have an equal opportunity to succeed with or without these new skills. Basically what you are complaining about is that you are not able to run the same, popular builds that everyone else is running..
Tough. Allow me to take a moment to cry for you.
If you want to use these builds, suck it up and cough up the dough. If you don't wanna drop the cash, make do with the skills you have. 'nuff said.

Basically like van said boon/prots are still part of the metagame as they are great at stopping spikes. Blessed light made its was into the meta now cause of all the the hex stacking builds, ex:SB spike(although i dont see it anymore ). Boon/prot is still a reliable build but things change and other builds take tier1 sooner or l8er. Also to stay ahead of the game u need to buy the expansions. Plain and simple.
P.S CoP only works on u, Blessed is for allies

You talk about it as if the boon prot is dead. That is just silly. There are significant flaws and advantages to both builds. Part of being a good monk is knowing which fits your team build the best. When we GvG, I am often using different combinations of boon prot, blight, and woh/infuse to get the most out of the backline. Even small changes such as going /a or /me can have a large impact on the team.

Its not as easy as it seems.
If you run a balance build and encounter a high degen or hex team. you gotta have a hard time (Im talking of good teams).
Cop helps a lot, BUT, it only helps you. You must re-cast boon each time, and continue to heal your mates who has also 3-4 hexes on them. You are 1 man dow also because you probably run an anti-melle char. so your killer team must kill them really fast because your are running out of energy. You probably only run one hex removal, so your have a great problem. You can only try to survive long enough.... And there is no easy counter. Convert hexes is an energy well...
You can try to bring more hex removal. And it will go that way if this continues. The anti-melee will evolve into a hex removal machine... (Echo convert hexes? crazy idea...).
And i dont think i need to say it, but this is the Team Arena forum. Dont make anlogies with GvG or other Pvp sections because they are useless. Try to run a WoH in actual TA and then run it in PvE and realize that every enviroment has his difference and you cannot always use your experience in one into the other
