I was hoping for the epic battle of all time in #3, but iQ's gamble didn't pay off.
Good run though! At least it wasn't down to WM v. EvIL this season!

Game 2 was pretty awesome. WM wasn't very organized, but they had a serious amount of pressure. Using W/N was really smart, because they took the E/Mo out of the game completely by a) making Blinding Flash all but useless on them, and b) spreading so many conditions. iQ's E/Mo was relegated to Heal Party / Extinguish spamming for nearly the whole match, while WM's Warriors got to do all the heavy hitting they pleased.
Game 3, well... 3 Mesmers > 5 Monks... what else can ya say? iQ would have had a great chance to win with balanced, since WM ran one W/A who could've been kept blinded, plus WM went with dual Mo/A who wouldn't have the energy management for a drawn out heads-up battle. But, triple smite was a gamble, and you don't always win when you gamble.
Stil, congrats to iQ for an impressive run in making the tournament and reaching the finals, and props to WM for finally getting their gold cape.

iQ are in my book the new official guild wars badasses that can do whatever they want, like turtle in the base and nuke the guildlord, or zerg rush WM over and over.
they are like the fonz of GWWC.

Bleh, most the top guilds change builds creatively. WM as much as anyone.. as for iQ "zerg" rushing over and over. That proved to cost them everything, wasn't exactly their shinning moment when they tried that... in fact most would call it just plain stupid if they didn't understand the gamble of the build vs build.

About time WM wins a championship, and rightfully so. They have been living under the shadow of EvIL for too long...

Doesn't matter to who you or everyone else watching?
You think it was awesome. 98% of people watching thought that iQ had left their computers and a non guild wars players were playing...... If anything it was embarrassing to be wiped out twice inside WM's base in under 3 minutes and to have your whole team catapaulted. Oh well, happens when you guess right and have all the tools to destroy another build.

Wasn't what beat iQ...
When they got catapulted, they were all over 45 DP by then (or close) and still just running at WM like they had a death wish.
Game 1 was awesome though. Game 2 was good too, except some bad moves on both parts.

well, CxE posted the mindset they had for going in and zerg rushing the guild lord, and it made sense (mo/a outhealing smiters and aoe? no way). Turns out the mesmers were more than they could handle, but they zerg rushed the second time to try to take out the other bodyguard.
the thinking was good, WM's build was just greater than iQ's.

When I heard about iQ's total rollage in game 3, part of me died inside...I didn't even have the will to watch it in observer.
Well, congrats to iQ for making such an impressive run in this WC. Hopefully you get the gold next time.

If you play a conservative, flag stand attrition battle and lose, everyone hails you for a game well fought. If you go balls to the wall, put all the chips on the table, and lose, everyone calls you an idiot.
I think game 3 is definitely one to analyze, it's deeper and more relevant than a lot of people want to credit it. I'm happy to discuss what went into that match, what the mistakes were, etc with people interested in it. People who just want to call me a moron for taking big gambles can watch me count my prize money.
Peace,
-CxE

You would have had a chance at even more prize money if you didn't take that risk. Unless you knew you couldnt beat wm which is totally understandable.

Because there's absolutely no way that gamble could have ever paid off, right? Risky plays always end up with you losing big, like us playing like retards and hugging the lord for 30 minutes against EvIL.
Don't assume that you know more than we do. Try and understand why we would make that play.
Peace,
-CxE
