I'm flattered fenix.
jk.
Well now for my story.
I don't generally like HA but still think having an emote plays an important role in general PvP.
I started of helping guildies and running joke builds (MENDING WAY FTW!) and got to rank 2 doing that (most of my guildies are r6+). I have been to halls about 20 times and have won it about 5 times... so basically i was getting to halls every run. I just noticed that i am close to rank 3, so i just IWAYed my last 15 fame in about 1 hr.
Now, i don't normally HA but i decided to do this since the PvPers in my guild have been going a bit to the PvE side (im sure it's just a faze!) and i havent been doing so many GvGs.
Now i can find PUGs when my guildies arent on (different time zone).
Basically, i don't think rank means ---- (four letter swear word of ur choice) but nice to have a little bambi laying around incase u wanna find a party or even a guild.
Back to the point, send me a pm and i'll be glad to play.

Sign me up. I can play builds such as sword or shock axe warrior and blood necro. I have done lots of RA and some GvG, but not really any HA. I'm on a lot on most weekends eastern time, and somewhat during the weekdays. PM Chris Lee.

Most people dont have excatly thát friend (most people starting pvp dont even have pvp friends) who takes em into r3+ groups
I am only saying what the easiest way is to get to r3 fast
What i did was:
Joined bad r0 iway groups and learned what iway was all about on forums and by asking people. When i got about 50 fame I started forming R3+ iway groups myself. Hardly anyone asks you to emote. I got to r3 in 1.5 week.
And if u play whit more exp players, you also learn way faster

Just play IWAY until you get to groups that can play something else. Sure, you won't learn anything, that's why we have TA. But rank is all that matters if you want a group. Only question asked is "show the emote, please".

I'd be glad to pop in, I've got two accounts, both r0 though...
I tend to GvG rather than HA, and we aren't GvGing as much anymore...
I can play just about anything that's needed, though I like my warrior the most I think..

Discussion about builds are always welcome in this topic, from my point of view at least. I would prefer that people don't post their opinion (which I always consider valid based on one's experience: If I win or lose doing this or that, this doesn't mean that everyone wins or loses for the same reasons) as the one and only truth. This is not aimed specifically at one person, it's just a request.
Please keep a clear post with the vital information, and perhaps use bold tags, so that people who want to see who is online can easily find the info. I will update today the 1st post with the info of people willing to help/participate, but please make things easier and put the vital info in an easy-to-read block, so that I can copy paste it.

Apart from IWAY the easiest team you could make would be a dual mesmer team.
They can be either surge or Migrane, then you should have a character for anti warrior such as a spitefull necro or a EQ/AS warder. Add in a Warrior or two and your set.
Basically just have a build where everyone has a role to do, and make the build very defencive as good teams have a very powerfull offence and your monks will need help to survive untill they get more accustumed to playing good teams.
This way you will learn much faster and accumulate friends much quicker than doing IWAY or Minion Factory, gl

Sometimes you dont even have to show rank to get into groups. And if you do you always can claim to be a threshold rank (r2, r5, r8). Typcially if you have vent or ts and know how to roll the right build you can get into some groups. As you get in groups, if you win battles, or go 2-3 rounds in, add that group leader to your friends list. As you add more people you will get a sizable pvp network. Build on that. People that know you are good will more likely than not want to group with you again to repeat past success.
I, as a higher rank am willing to run HA with rank 0 people, I find it much less frustrating than being in a 'high rank' group and having a monk join that only knows how to IWAY and screw you over.

I'm a W/N PvE, so therefore I have most of their skills unlocked. I'd prefer to be a W/N (probably not liked by most people in HA), but I can play as a Curses Necro or something with W or N. (I do have a few skills unlocked for Monk, mostly in Healing Prayers though). I have both TS and Vent and I can usually play 1-3 hours on weekdays and ~4-6 hours on weekends.

Great Idea and my rank hell
I think this thread is a wonderful idea and g4u for doing this. This is the perfect why to learn builds and get rank.
If you do research, have patience and have a good understanding of the game there is no reason why you can't get fame.
I'll share my rank hell story, as i finally goto r3 and believe me i play with r9, r6, r0, and your not garunteed to get a good group after r3 its just "more likely" quotes are necessary.
So, I started playing on Jan 3 finished the game with my first char about a month later, not knowing I should just skip most of the quests and just do the skill quests. It took me awhile to get to 20 at first now it's like 20 hours of playing. Anyway, I started HoHing in early feb and I just got my R3 last week, today is April 11, so it took me about 2 months.
My fame breakdown goes like this
ed mes=100fame
Shock war=40fame
Blood Spike=85fame
for 215 total right now
Actually some fame is from other builds but to small to mention. It's best for you in the long run to learn different builds. I can run any build you want, except monk which i know i should get around to. But I do run a great essence bond healer monk in RA FTW.
Not only that but, I know the weaknesses of every build going, I know who/what to kill, in what order. Losing as much as I did made me way smarter than, say, someone who is in a guild and they just win 'cause the guildies are good. Believe me I know more than MOST rank 9's. I've seen it and done it. I've had multiple groups of high rank "suspected" iwayers that knew shit.
Am I superfantabulouis, great, NOOOOO, but I get the reason why ppl run complex build and how they run them. Isn't that the goal, to make one urself and run it with your friends and PWN.
Like the guy from Aerosmith said in that FPS
DON'T GIVE UP

As some of you will be aware, we had our first meeting last night in International HA, which allowed us to have a chat.
First thing's first: Good meeting you all and from the friendly attitude everyone showed, I think this could be good fun as well as helpful.
To re-cap what we talked about for the benefit of everone who is interested, we decided to use this forum discussion to decide on a team build and strategy. Doing that in game when everyone is raring to go did not seem to be the best time.
Several people have already made very constructive suggestions about build and tactics, so if I might suggest, our best bet might be to choose one or two of those. We could then refine a roster and a choice of times to meet (both Euro and US friendly).
In an attempt to collate the suggestions we have had so far, the teams which have been proposed, with possible composition, are:
IWAY (4 wa/ra, 1 Orders necro, 1 Tainted Necro, 2 trappers, including one martyr)
Edge of Extinction Bomb (1 Ranger, I Resmer, 2 saccer necros with Taint, 4 saccer necros with Death Nova)
Minion Factory (1 Heal Area Monk, 2 Saccers with Blood is Power, 2 Resmers, Spirit Trapper, 2 Minion Masters)
Ice Monkey's Energy Denial (3 Denial Mesmers, 1 Axe Warrior, 1 Fire Ele (or 2nd Wa), WoH Monk, SB Infuse Monk, Active Prot Monk)
Tafy's Defensive (2 surge/migraine mesmers, WarrHate Necro or Mes, 2 Warriors, 3 Monks).
May I point out now that all mistakes describing or laying out the above teams are purely my own.
Anyone got preferences? We have had 17 people express an interest so far, so let's hear you....
