An Alternative R/W Single Char build
Bunny Slicer
Ranger/Warrior
Level: 20
Expertise: 10 (8+2) (Maj rune)
Beast Mastery: 13 (10+3) (Helm + Maj rune)
Swordsmanship: 12
Straight offensive
- Tiger's Fury (Beast Mastery)
- Call of Haste (Beast Mastery)*
- Sever Artery (Swordsmanship)
- Gash (Swordsmanship)
- Final Thrust (Swordsmanship)
- Brutal Strike (Beast Mastery)
- Enraged Lunge [Elite] (Beast Mastery)
- Charm Animal (Beast Mastery)
* Comfort Animal can (and probably should, really) go here, but Call of Haste
synergizes much better with enraged lunge and the offensive theme. Another alternative is Run as One, trading all IAS for IRS but with a slow recharge.
Alternative configuration
- Tiger's Fury (Beast Mastery)
- Sever Artery (Swordsmanship)
- Gash (Swordsmanship)
- Final Thrust (Swordsmanship)
- Brutal Strike (Beast Mastery)
- Heal as One [Elite] (Beast Mastery)
- Comfort Animal (Beast Mastery)
- Charm Animal (Beast Mastery)
An extremely nasty frontloaded R/W I came up with a couple weeks ago while putzing around. The damage skills synergize extremely well-- Brutal and Enraged provide anytime damage with Enraged getting super-buffed upon Tiger's Fury. Brutal and Final Thrust double their damage at the same time, and sever gash provides the generic bleeding/deep wound spike we expect
from swords.
The secondary configuration trades in some offensive capability for a more self-sufficient setup.
Now, I don't have the GvG presence to actually test it in a match, and RA experience doesn't count for anything here. It is quite obviously inflexible in terms of what it can accomplish without support, but with it, it's not anything you would want in your face for long. Moreover, the nature of the setup allows it to switch targets in the face of severe kiting and still put out a heavy damage load, making it great for displacement as well as killing squishies.
General Weaknesses:
Lack of self healing in primary configuration
Lack of player speed boost
Use of pet comes with pet quirks, such as occasional target ADD on the part of the pet--but damage potential does not necessarily make this a wasted interval of time.
Lack of Knockdown/Snare: A great mechanic that is decidedly lacking on this guy. I haven't tried using hamstring in place of Call of Haste yet, but expertise might make it viable.
Lack of Res Sig. A great skill, but the skillbar is as tight here as it is on the standard bunny thumper. I justify it for two reasons:
1) The character's need for hasty damage makes 3 seconds an eternity for the enemy to relax while you use that signet.
2) Any skill that does get cut for the res sig is a loss at more than face value--beast mastery skills pump enraged, and a loss of any swordsmanship skills either breaks a combo or a synergy.
If anyone could give their thoughts or at least try it out, I'd appreciate it--presently I'm still in a PvE guild for what boils down to sentimental reasons, and don't have any particular contacts to be invited with.
Thanks, and enjoy!
