Maybe the pro HA players don't care about fame anymore and are playing for fun? I'd rather play a 30 mins good match against a good balanced team then flawless a vim in 2 mins.
Are you talking about GvG or HA? :P .
I have enjoyed the weekend so far. Vim is mostly polluting the first 3 maps, after that the interesting fights start, pitting balanced versus balanced usually. 6-men teams are far more interesting as they're faster to assemble and make fights more fast-paced.
In 6v6, most of the games are coming down to who has more resses. 6v6 seems to add a sort of luck factor to it... can't really pin it down. Also has made vim more popular fotm than iway, and really other than vim all thats run is smite, melandrus/cripshot, and a few balanced-s. If you think this increased HA diversity, I want some of what you're smoking.

Here is the way I see it.
The only reason all those builds are so popular is not because it's 6v6 but becuase it's double fame. People are fame farming, and those are just the builds to do it.
If they left it at 6v6 after this weekend (aka no double fame) we'd see MANY more balanced teams. And probably a couple new builds as well. This is the weekend everybody is trying to fame farm, not try to hold.
Actually, I like the new 6v6 (or is it just the double fame?) and I've been doing VIMWAY a lot this weekend and hell, been doing quite well [sarcasm] but I guess I'm just another closed-minded FotM farmer who can't run a balanced group.[/sarcasm]

Definitely liking 6v6. Faster teaming, faster matches, and overall a better game. There are a lot of VIMs and other FOTM, but at least there are more people in HA, and maybe some players will HA on a regular basis after this event. It's bound to happen, because this is a first time HA experience for a lot of them.
I think, though, that degen-heavy teams are dominating the later maps, after you get past the VIMmers. Cripshot/Melandrus combos, or Illusion/Curses combos, can totally rip apart teams with inadequate hex or condition removal. What also hurts are the interrupts that 2-3 players carry on a degen team. Sure they might be strong now, but I think a skill rebalance is in the works, and this weekend helped the devs see that, if nothing else.
True, maps in HA aren't ideal for strategic movement. They certainly don't encourage you to do so, but I think with 6 man teams, it's a necessity. You have less saving and staying power, so you're forced to pick your battles. You work with what you're given. It's just that 8v8 has forced players into a stand-and-fight mentality for so long that it's hard to adjust. Good players will use the maps to their advantage, lesser players will learn from them (hopefully).
I've seen my share of top (supposedly) HA guilds go down fairly quickly to players I don't recognize, and even VIM for that matter. It makes you think, whether they just outright suck, or if this weekend really is rock>scissors>paper?

Lol absolutely no need for the /sarcasm because you ARE a closed minded fame farmer. If u knew how to run a decent balanced you would definitely be running it because u would know how easy it is to beat Vimway.
"only viable HA build now is VIM. yes, only one. that is VIM."
Lol @ tomcruisejr.
I liked the event most when it just started, virtually noone knew what they were doing and that added elements of suprise and the fun of having open unpredictable matches. As we all know this lasted just a day cause now all we see is ViM and Smite. But it was to be expected that 2 or 3 builds would dominate 6vs6. As I said in another thread: new famefarmbuilds will replace the old ones. But don't get me wrong, I have nothing against people who play FotM, players who don't want to use voicecom or play "complicated" builds also have the right to play to enjoy themselves in their own way. The only thing that bothers me about ViM/Smite currently being overused is that you HAVE to fit in stuff in your (balanced) build to counter it, that limits the versatility of builds hugely. It also makes many matches looking the same a lot. Facing ViM for the 30th time on the same day can be a bit frustrating. But this is a famefarmweekend so for now it's OK. However, for the future of HA I really hope Anet will look at ways to keep it interesting and versatile, nomatter if it'll be 6vs6 or 8vs8.
Edit: @ hardcore r6+ balanced players. This might be a bit off-topic, but guys, lighten up a little. Playing at a high level is fun, I know. But omg, some of you guys are taking it really to seriously. Last time I checked this game was intended to have fun. One of the reasons many players are reluctant to use voicecom builds is the fact of the arrogant and "blame everone but yourself" mentality which infested the minds from many of the so called 1337 players. This is one of the main reasons why I hardly play balanced in pugs, and I'm sure I'm not the only one trying to avoid playing in balanced pugs for the same reason.

Lol @ tomcruisejr.
That's sarcasm...
Anyway... people are running fotms as much as they can because of the double fame thing.
I don't even know how good the melandru's/crip shot build is, cause I don't think beating smite, vim and just plain bad teams over and over means anything.

I'm a hardcore r6+ balanced player, and I can tell you one thing: HA is never "High Level".
Overall i think this weeken is pretty fun. I played some new things i rarely ply or never plyed before. Tried some new builds. Beat some top 10 gvg guilds. Got rolled by a few unknowns/unranks. Had some intense matches for 30 mins vs very good teams. Didnt E7 once! Got my r10. and i pugged a few times, (which i never ever do.)
After all tht said i still miss 8v8. The maps currently are so obviously made for 8 players and it is hard to hold halls even once after winning it. 8v8 is much more stratergy and planning. I dont know why people call 8 man holding builds bad or cheap. They are very hard to get to halls and they deserve the hold if they get there. {without lucky skips}
I would like to see a 6v6 areana rise from this and have a whole new rank/fame/emote system for it.
Enjoy the rest of the weeken

Its not cheap persay but cheap because a 8 man holding tem that usualy holds 5+ more times has atleast a dual spirit spammer sometimes a triple spiriti spammer..imo spirit spam is even worse then before nerf hehe and it definatly does not take skills..someone like myself and my good friend i luv do da cha cha can hold w/o spirits....i think thats where the most skill comes in and trust in your monks 100%
But i do enjoy it that this 6v6 took out spirit spam and its kinda cool..tho some team that are not good and even are supposably good still pack a spirit spammer ...still get rolled tho......its all about being calm and knowing what to do and trust in the team..yeah anet your cool..a bit on the virgin side but I do like GuildWars

I have greatly enjoyed this weekend and think the best thing Anet could do is change the party # on perhaps a monthly basis (fluctuate between 6 and 10??).
The metagame gets stale in between the releases and the nerfs. This party # change caused many new and old builds to be "tried." It's a shame that by Sunday the metagame had already started to flatten out, but I still had a great time. Thanks Anet
I only played a few times due to issues with my laptop but overall i like it (minus the ever annoying vimway). People are using dual rangers because it adds condition pressure that 2 monks just cant handle on a 6 man team, add the warrior and you have the target finisher. With just a 2 monk backline its hard for monks to counter any sort of high pressure builds.
Why unlock skills when you can buy them for ten bucks! /sarcasm
I'm just a little mad my "legitimate" R3 means absolutely nothing now... not that it really did before.
I took screenies... I don't have the Factions' Touch skill, or IWAY unlocked, and got my R3 before the event.
Touch rangers dont ever see the light of day in HA. Every team I ever faced a team that had touch rangers in it we flawlessed sent them back out to fight the zaishen all over again. Legitimate or not I cant recall the last time rank 3 meant anything, let alone any rank. Me being rank 8 I have played with rank 9-11 people and I have seen some of the dumbest thing to date. Just for an example purpose our ghostly is capping the HOH altar wait there is a meteor shower on him rank 10 prot monk spams guardian on him instead of prot spirit our heal monk cant keep up with the trap damage from iway warrior damage and degen from hexes to end the story warriors pound on him 3 seconds later our ghostly is down.
