I love how this thread turned into people bragging about beating ViMway to make their e-peens bigger. I'm going to let you guys in on a little secret. Its not much of an accomplishment beating ViMway.

ViM is good for new players to learn, like IWAY it doesn't require the experience and organization to get past Underworld, but for ranked teams, it's a no.

Yeah, it is pretty easy to beat VimWay. It is ok for getting you started, but once you get ranked, it wont sustain you. It's sure is fun henchwaying killing Vimway though...........

As for the "experience" you gain from doing VIM, stop fooling yourself. You might be learning tactics for the first 3 maps, but you're not learning anything about pvp. If all you've done for your rank is shit traps or c-spacebar with an IWAY warrior, I certainly don't want you in my balanced group.
|
Experience on the 3 first map, yes. But im quite sure an unranked "balanced" with people new to Heroes wouldn't even get past Underworld.

I'm not even going to vote yes or no to ViM for the simple reason that people should play what they like most. Who am I to tell people what they should and shouldnt play? I'm getting so damn tired of all these discussions about builds being noobish or whatever. Just play the game and have fun ffs.
And regarding being skilled, rank = games won with the professions you played with. For example, you can be great at playing monk but suck at playing mesmer.

VIMWAY is just a build where r0 try to get r3, never saw a r6/9+ vimway, always unranked or sometimes r3... so i don't give a damn about vimway, if you have a good rc they lose hard

That's exactly my problem with the ranking system.
I mean, I'm good at playing infuser, beacause I was trained and have good reflexes and all....
But I still couldn't get a good team because I had no rank.
So I HB-Spiked my way to r3, and now I get groups. But why do they take me now? Am I better at infusing now, after a few weeks of fame-Farming?

This is true, but when you have to result to taking PUGs, rank 9s are usually markedly better at the game than unranked players. Plus, I'd venture to say that any decent player would be proficient at more than one class by the time they reach rank 8 or 9.

It's because people want some form of assurance that you're not a complete scrub before they waste time accepting you into their party. Unfortunately, the only way to gage a PUG's experience is with rank.
I know it's frustrating to be a lower rank than everyone else, but you will soon learn that PUGs are a waste of time and realize all the good groups in tombs are started from a friends list. Once you build up your own network of friends, rank becomes irrelevant. I generally play with people who are rank 2-10, because I don't mind giving anyone a shot based on a friend's reccomendation. There's no way I would waste my playing time on unranked PUGs though (even rank 6-9 PUGs usually suck).

Wow guys great so far. Here are the votes so far.
YES - 13
NO - 10
I'm learning as we go.
For those who voted no please leave any suggestions or ideas for me to try out (different builds, different class) that a rank 3 should play. I got rank 3 btw thanks for the feedback.

I vote yes for vimway, because regular Iway is alrdy becoming out of hand with all the R+++ Iway. IMO vimway is for more casual players who dont like to play alot of GW but want to have a good time when they are online, not waiting around 45 mins in HA to get a super complicated team together. And also i've been in a Vimway group that beat spikers and balanced groups in HoH.

Balling up is the worst thing a vim team can do. So easy to pick up overextenders etc.
The VIM teams spread out and trap all over the place is much worse.

vim blows not play it waste of your time and effort your better off playing henchway. The reason for this is 1 good team with a nuker will blow up the middle on one of the rangers and its gg.

ViM is meant for pure fame farming to achieve early ranks. It's easy to start and easy to play, however there are so many idiots in unranked ViMway, that's why R3 ViMway is best. Unranked ViM aren't always bad, but it's usually filled with complete newbs.
ViM also usually kills balanced and Iway, but gets owned by spikes.

i smell lies....
i can pretty much guarantee that everyone saying they have never lost to vim, and that they roll vim every time is lying because if vim was so unsuccessful, it wouldnt be ran at all. ive seen r3+ vim dominate rank 6/9+ balanced / iway. sure, if you have a good plan, good kite paths and are on vent you can counter most vim damage, but that one mistake, like accidentally balling for 2 seconds into a barbed trap, is all it takes to let vim get control of the match and win within the next 30 seconds, and lets admit it, we all make mistakes
ill vote no for vim though, because im sick of taking 30 mintues to make a balanced.

I think all the people saying that Vimway is a bad build need to go try it out. I played it earlier today and had a blast and get a nice bit of fame. We beat And Then And Then And {Then} and Blazin Dragons {BD} during our little run. We only lost one match to a blood spike.

I was in 3+ vimway yesterday. We got to Broken Tower and fought against "balance". We had no chance to capture the altar before them, so we just killed them all . Finally we lost to another "balance" when we got to Sacred Temples - nobody knew what to do on that map
10-20 fame every day with iway or vimway is ok for me so far. After rank 6 I will have to think of better way-s to farm fame.
