Alliance Battles - Making fun out of boredom?
Lately I've been very bored with alliance battles. Due to total randomness and chaos that ensues, I find that skill is not a real requirement, and most of them is just dull ganking or capping. Lately I've been going into weird teams such as 4 assasins that would solo take points and gather up in order to spike 2-3 critical targets in a team battle. Or running around with 4 smiters just smiting any ally that's in range of enemies. Or doing random nuking with an air, water, earth and fire ele(you should see the wtf's on those!). Today I even entered with an empty skillbar ele because my leader started before I could tell him, we still won - I got 3 kills by wanding people to death(earth wands are overpowered, btw).
So my question is, do any of you feel the same way? I mean monking in AB is such a joke, any time we bring some build with damage capacity and one of us is monking, it takes at least a 2v1 advantage to kill us. So do you try out weird and funny builds just to keep it interesting? Or do you just go on to other forms of PvP when AB gets boring? You could also share some interesting builds you've had fun with.
It kind of saddens me that the easiest to access forms of GW PvP can get so dull. It's not everyday that you have the players/time to go GvG.

Yeh this pretty much covers it for me.
I had fun for a while but not so much now. I kinda stopped after i got sick of having groups that never stuck together, never thought things out, and didnt know when 20 blue dots vs. 5 red dots was bad.
Im sure i'll go back eventually (like next week)

AB (or fort aspenwood even) is a great place to try random new builds, it's not competitive PvP, and that's fine. Sometimes I don't feel like dealing with the intense concentration required in team arena, and I want to try something silly.
I was trying out a stupid warrior build with Judge's Insight, Primal Rage, Signet of Strength, and IWAY, who just auto-attacked, just for kicks and giggles.

The other day me and a couple guildies were running a 4 memser team. 3 Illusion and 1 Surge. We did suprising well rarely dying and capping with too much difficulty. We won 3 straight and then one had to leave. Then we tried 4 Smiting monks not being succesful but still fun.
Once in awhile I like to enter an AB with a Cripshot Ranger. Main attacks being Cripshot, Apply Poison, Savage and Distracting shot. It's quite fun to cripple a warrior or touch ranger and watch them follow you slowly dying of degen.

Infact cripshot rangers are pretty deadly in AB. You can solo-cap with flatbow's superior range, you can get away from pretty much any trouble(cripple+interrupts and a running stance), and you're the most frustrating thing for someone to meet both 1v1 and in a team battle. At one point I was ganked by about 8 people while solo-capping a mesmer shrine, and one of the warriors(who I had annoyed just a tiny bit....keeping him perma crippled) danced on my corpse.

Yeah with a flatbow they can easily solo several of the cap shrines. The only onces that are a little tough are the warrior and monk. The warriors run out and the monks heal but still it can be done.

Im usually assassin in AB, and its just funny how far a warrior will follow you, i lured a warrior on etneran keys all the way from the res shrine to the orb shrine, where my team was waiting, i deaths charged back to him, and caltroped him, and he didnt know what happened... i love AB for the thrill of it is amazing

There are waaay too many Warrior monks with Dolyak Signet and Healing Breeze in Abs... also way too many Warriors who seem to think Ripostes will save them against the masses of warriors who go against them when theres a caster with them.
I refuse to play Saltspray Beach... its such a badly designed map.
Its fun to do occasionally, recently just when i want to smack stuff with a hammer (<3 Ice Breaker) or Cripshot things. But in the 5 matches i played yesterday... all of them had at least 1 leaver.
