PVP Characters
I am one of those people who dont have a great amount of time to play GW.
I am irritated to have to spend time to prepare a PVE character to be ready for PVP. It is taking me ages to do it for my warrior.
Anyway I have been d/l some weapon of choice and I was particularly interested in the IZZY interview by Wheat and IZZY stated that he is against armour swapping. This was WOC 40 I think.
So doea anyone have any information on any planned PVP character screen changes (read expansion) or armour/swapping changes in policy.

At this time, there is no armor swapping method available for PvP characters. I am not aware of any plans to include a second armor set for PvP characters during the creation screen. I would like to see an additional Guild Hall NPC that allows you to craft a set of armor in the guild hall. This would be basic 1.5k armor with a basic skin to it. However, I highly doubt that this will be implemented due to level 1 PvE characters having access to max armor upon creation.

Well Gaile has said that she feels PVE players who put time into their characters should have more of an advantage than looking good so i'm not feeling to optomistic about a balance.

Gaile is looking at it from the standpoint of a PVE Player, Izzy is looking at it from a balance perspective.
Sure, you look cool, which is nice, but you are getting an advantage a pvp character doesn't get, which is unfair.

I understand that completely, but Gaile's comment was post-Izzy's which doesn't lead me to be too confident that Izzy's voice is in the majority over at A-net HQ. She posted that at TGH which is by no means a PVE audience, to me it reads like A-Net has made the decision and she is telling the PVP audience that no, you will not get what you want. Just in an obtuse, PR way.

well, good thing all my characters have sexy armor and more than 2 weapon slots. Just sucks for those really wanting to skip the pve aspect, which I find relaxing when things get too serious in GVG, or I remember that HA is a non-stop scrubathon.

I've heard rumors that they're looking into a way to lock out the inventory once you're in a PvP battle, so you wouldn't be able to change armor or shields, etc.

If they did that, I would be really pissed.

Same here. I like to use different weapons for different occassions.

Removing weapon swapping would be a very bad thing. Focus swapping is crucial to the balance of the game currently, since it provides a strong counter to energy denial. Armor swapping can go without issue though.

While I would be somewhat dissapointed at millions down the drain on my Monk and Warrior if they made it so you couldn't open your inventory while in PvP combat to prevent outside weapon switching and armor switching, I'd much rather have this happen than have an imbalance between PvPs and PvEs.
I still think that PvPs should get four weapon sets worth of items, though... An improved list of items you can get might help too, since there are some things that you can still only get through PvE.
Heck, do all that, then give us +25 Health inherent one handed items(aka HoD Axes), and nerf the 15% FFS, and Charr Swords(or just add a one handed HoD Bow-like item to make it worthless, or even make it a droppable mod and available on the PvP screen) and PvP should be *almost* set.

We are talking about locking the inventory window closed, not disabling weapon swaps.

Unless you have more than 4 weapon sets that you swap with your inventory.

Sounds awesome, but without limiting characters to two weapon sets, or giving PvP Toons 4 Weapon slot choices, there is still a problem

The problem lies in the fact that If you do not have the ability to swap armour sets then you cant run sup runes on most characters. So PVE characters are already more powerful than PVP. The thing is armour swapping should be given to PVP characters or take it out of the game.
There is going to be a massive load of skills/classes and so on in the game already nevermind after chapter 5.
I do not want to have to grind out a perfect PVE toon for every class I want to play. I just no longer have the time to do so. If I spend time in PVE I lose time to GVG etc.
At the moment I am only playing PVE because I want to have some perfect characters for a month or so down the road, but its annoying when I could just spend 2 minutes in character creation.
As far as GW is a competitive game PVP vs PVE characters need to be balanced. Otherwise everyone is forced to grind out PVE characters. Which is great when you have loads of time.
If they dont then why bother ever unlocking a sup rune.

Gaile's comment on The Guild Hall boards rubbed me the wrong way. The idea that a PvE player who's grinded 1000 hours should have a competetive edge over a PvP player who's grinded 1000 hours and rolls a new PvP character really bites me. Maybe extra weapon slots and in-battle inventory should be unlockable in PvP.

Agreed. Make PvP characters the same as PvE characters. Either make 4 weapon slots for PvP chars and make it so you can make multiple armor sets for PvP chars, or disable armor switching from PvE characters. Why should I have to do something I hate just to not be at a disadvantage at doing something I want to do...

IMO, they should just let PvP characters create 4 weapon sets and either let PvP characters create 2 sets of armor at creation or lock out armor swapping for PvE characters. Then just throw in some of the unique PvE weapons that are actually useful for PvP (FFS, charr sword) for the PvP creation screen and you're good.

I pretty much concur. Although 2 sets of Armor still can be lacking. I haven't done it for a while but even post nerf, I was using my HoD Helm against heavy hexers so I had 4 helms I would swap (Minor/Superior Weapon helm and Minor/Superior HoD helm). And theoretically you could have more than 4 weapon combos that you could use given a specific circumstance.
I guess I'd rather see a base of 2 weapon slots and 1 set of armor and the ability to unlock more of each. Want another weapon slot? 2K faction. Another set of Armor? Another 2K. That way Gaile's happy because Newbie McNewberson can't sit down and have all the weapons and armor that a PvE grinder has, and the balance gods are happy because the eperienced PvPer can get to the same spot with a bit of his own grind.
