Few points:
-PuGing in HA is currently horrible. PuGging TA is reasonable.
-There is no good reason not to have 6v6 play.
-Most GvG battles are 7v7, 6v6 or 5v5. HA is the only place in the game you have constant 8v8 battles.
-Build diversity in 4v4 and GvG has always been better than HA.
-Many GvG players have considered TA to be the second best place to train.
My feelings:
-A reduction in the number of players isn't enough to correct largely uninteresting maps (almost all 0-1 control point maps).
-Multi team maps were always the most fun element of HA. Smaller teams => more teams => more multi team play.
-Anet needs to redesign HA maps so that they since many aren't even used as originally intented.
-I'm for original HoH rules (10 minutes, 5 teams) if fewer players disables the strength of "holding builds".

less players is a interesting change to way we know. Many fad core builds will be reworked and most spikes will be hard to pull off. i think its for the better and i'd prefer it to be 6v6.... if it does happen permanently then here are few things that will get owned
Blood Spike
Smite Ball
rit spikes
i guess you can still run NR tranq, Rspike, Iway, Vimway...
what they should do is make the matches 6v6 but bring bak the orginal maps that were nerfed into 8v8 maps... like scarred earth make it 6v6v6v6v6v6... and keep the double fame ^_^.... like they did with the double faction. Easier eliminations will mean more harder to get the double fame... and the best players will move on... the builds will change it will be fresh new idea.... and since its 6v6 finding players should be much less of a hassle...

Wasn't anet talking about adding a new kind of tournament soon (well soon, i think it was a few months ago), I think this is just a test for certain skills, see what abuses the community can think of, then change skills with the upcoming skillupdate.

The diversity of builds in TA is much more apparent than it is in HA. The only reason TA doesn't have that much competition is that theres no heirarchy, no ladder, like there is in HA and GvG. Each match, you have an equal chance of coming up with a good team that's had a long run and a bad team in their first match.
If you played TA you'd know that the competition got much more impressive when titles came in. If it had a heirarchy like HA does it would be awesome

As for topic: Well I hope its beta test for new HA, but frankly I don't think they will add such a big change to gameplay. Even little tweaks here and there make rant avalanche on forums. Big change could be too much to handle.

I think that 6v6 balance is much more plausible than skill balancing. They have more than enough data on skill usage from the GvG fun season.

I really hope they're gonna bring a PvP-arena where you can enter with 6 people, but I don't want them to close the current HA for this.

I think 6vs6 will be more enjoyable and will share some of the more individual skill based play that TA does as well as some of the long thought out builds that 'some' Guilds use for GvG. It will eliminate the PuG b-spike, iway and co.
One big question in my mind is how many monks are you guys gonna run 1 or 2 ?

Anyone still remember when there was a 6 man RA in LA, for level 15-20? I hated it.

i'd hate to see ha turn into 6v6.. it would be the end of our beloved 3 monk backline *tear* - we wont see the standard woh, sb, rc.. instead just 2 boon prots/blessed light monks

As a one-time test for new type of arena, which will come with release of Nightfall - this is brilliant idea. More PVP modes are always good news. Also HA is good place to test it, because of large and experienced player base.
On the other hand, if the change would become permanent, that would be one of the biggest mistakes made by anet. There are lots of people ( like everyone in my guild for example ), that would be seriously dissapointed by that move. HA ( as fast paced, serious 8 vs 8 pvp ), and GVG ( slower paced , more strategic approach PVP mode ) are the only game modes i play and enjoy. If they would take away 50% of the fun ( 6 vs 6 HA would be huge nerf ) I, and lots of other people who like Heroes Ascend would feel seriously betrayed. If anet would decide to ruin one of the two game modes I enjoy, I would definatly search for some other PVP game - incoming Warhammer Online would be nice alternative.
If they really think some changes in HA are nesecary - why not make a new maps, new objectives, more radical changes in the overused skills ( vim, iway, rit lord ) - thats more diffucult and time consuming than simple nerf, but I bet would be much more effective.
6 vs 6 HA - turning it into another TA - no thank you!

I wish people would learn to use the term "nerf" properly.
I also believe that judgement and QQing should be reserved for after you have had a chance to try out the altered version of HA, to see just how enjoyable it is.

QFT.
I would b really pissed if they actually made HA a 6man PvP arena. Even with all the crap builds and rank descrimination in HA, it is still fun no matter what every1 says, and permanently changing it 2 6 man teams would kinda suck.
Don't get me wrong i would love 2 c a new arena with 6 man teams, but i dont want them 2 change HA.

Not beta test, i'm 100% positive.
They will just change this only for one purpose. Breaking some overplayed builds (iway, vim,Bspike etc.) so players can give their best on balanced. If it would stay 8v8 there would be only one big iway pool of getting fame.
This way gaining fame will not be so easy as before
So ppl will try new builds, test new stuff etc.
imo.

i wouldnt be surprised if this would become a permanent change.. it wouldn't be the first time anet does it. but i know that if it is, i will never ever play HA again, and i'm pretty sure most of my guild or even alliance wont either. this would mean some of the best HA guilds of the moments wouldnt play it anymore, a waste imo..
oh and Morgoth, i have to disagree on breaking over played builds... sure, bspike wont work with 6 players, but iway and mostly vimway will, even worse, they'll most likely to be more powerful compared to balanced builds, simply because losing two players doesnt matter too much for those builds, a vimway with 2 wars/4 trappers or 3/3 will still have shitloads of damage.. balanced will have to drop either defense or offense, which basicly means they wont be able to kill fast enough anymore or they wont have enough defense so they'll get raped.

There are lots of HA guilds out there who enjoy the current complex 8 man arenas. All the forum griefers dont usually play HA in the first place.
Also 6 man iway and 6 man vim would have same amount of pressure, while it would hurt the usual balanced 3 monk backline. Its another "fun" weekend, after the dervish madness which will hurt most of the usual, balanced, guild based HA players.

I am curious as to why everyone seems to think 6 vs 6 would be such a bad thing. In my opinion the build variety in Tombs has been stale for far too long already, and surely any change is welcome?

Much guilds are focused on having 8 players, changing that to 6 would dissapoint people (if it's an HA guild ofc). So that's why I wouldnt like to see HA change forever, since my guild doesnt feel like either recruiting or kicking players.
A totally new 6v6 arena would be ok, just to play when there are not enough people online, or for 6v6 focused guilds.

If they change it i might try it again. And if they remove all the fame from every account i might even be more interested to try HA again. (btw im not a rank 0 person i got my rank 6 through hard working whit balanced and ofc sometimes a bit of iway bute veryone has tried it.)

Build variety isnt stale, sure there are iway and vim pugs everywhere, but they usually serve as free fame in the underworld and rarely go further than scarred earth. There are lot of HA guilds which play unique and good balanced builds. It seems you arent paying much attention to HA in general.
As for 6 man, we were trying hard to get good, stable 8 man team that can win HOH and hold it. Reducing it to 6 would left some players left out, and besides, whats wrong with 8 man teams in the first place? Do we really need another TA? I know you're good gvg'er JR. Would you like gvg team size reduced to 6 man?
