Poll: Is this 6v6 HA weekend a beta test for a permanent change?
I have a sneaking suspicion that the 6v6 HA weekend is a beta test for what A-net is looking to make a permanent change to the format of Heroe's Ascent.
Here is my reasoning for thinking this will become a permanent change -- their developers read the forums and recognize the lack of competition in HA due to stagnant builds, messed up victory conditions, and top guilds preferring to GvG when they have 8 players available. In addition, there have been several posts complaining about the amount of time it takes to form a pickup group of 8 for HA and how this fact causes players to play builds that can form up quickly such as IWAY. Ultimately, I think that A-net is trying to give HA a unique flavor by having a 6v6 PvP and stir up the metagame for HA by making it harder to fit all the skills "necessary for HA" into the various types of builds.
Please vote yes or no on whether you forsee the HA of the future being a 6v6 game and any reasons you have for your prognostication.

No. This is probably a test for a completely new pvp area. They would never get rid of the traditional 8v8 HA.

Random Arena = 1 player zone
Team Arena = 4 man party zone
HA = 6 man party zone
GvG = 8 man party zone
looks like a learning curve beta-test eh

I think it's a beta test for a permanent change. The only people who it'll piss off are the fame farmers who are entrenched in their fame-farming builds. Then again, whenever any skill is nerfed, some obscure farming build is hit and all the farmers crawl out from under their rocks for some cheese & whine.
In conclusion, opinions from the viewpoint of farmers don't count. I see this as a welcome change, and the OP hit the nail on the head.

Of course it is. The double fame is just to get more ppl to HA so anet gets more feedback.

The diversity of builds in TA is much more apparent than it is in HA. The only reason TA doesn't have that much competition is that theres no heirarchy, no ladder, like there is in HA and GvG. Each match, you have an equal chance of coming up with a good team that's had a long run and a bad team in their first match.
If you played TA you'd know that the competition got much more impressive when titles came in. If it had a heirarchy like HA does it would be awesome
I think 6v6 HA would be a great permanent addition to GW

About 98% certain that this is a beta test for a future permanent change.
And I would welcome the change, too. Lets hope nothing terrible happens this weekend to give ANet cold feet.

Don't think it's for changing HA, but it's probably a test for some 6v6 PvP coming up in Nightfall...

I don't think they would replace HA to test that. HA is a different demographic and skill level than 6v6.
Anyways, anyone remember the Amnoon Arena? That was fun...

What would they do to test? Introduce a brand-new arena?
Yes, HA's (and GvG's) demographic is a lot different from all other PvP, but who says Anet won't try to create another high-level PvP environment?

yes its a test for a permanent change... it makes sense as posted above and probably a new 8vs8 area will be introduced in Nightfall.
HA is seriously screwed over by the fame farming and maybe this is a test to see if 6vs6 can rend gimmicks useless...
of course it can be that the test fails and nothing changes

At this point in time, pre-testing, I would very much like to hope it is a beta test to change it permenantly. I think that this overhaul has the potential to do great things for HA in the long run, and hope Anet doesn't just get put off by people QQing.
That said; it could also be a disaster, we shall have to wait and see.

Poignant observation - I'm inclined to agree. 6-man teams are much more manageable; I shudder at the amount of time I've spent waiting for teams to assemble in HA. That whole team formation phase is a big turn-off, especially for PUGs.

i would enjoy the changes to HA no double faction ofc, but even if it is just the ground work for 6v6 pvp in nightfall i will go along with it.
mainly because 6v6 isn't 4v4 or 8v8 which adds in diffrent ways of working a team that you do now.

Highly possible its a beta test. If it becomes permanent in the future, I wouldn't be surprised. It will definitely change HA and stir things up.

i doubt it.. i think they just made it 6v6 cause of the double fame thing - otherwise we'll have heaps of nubs getting their iway tigers this weekend. i.e. they reduced the number of players you can take so fame farming builds such as iway are less effective.
also someone mentioned that maybe they would make ha 6v6 so that they can then introduce an 8v8 arena in nightfall.. i dunno if this is likely because then people would have to buy nightfall to access 8v8
