Another idea could have been to find the average rank of the teams, and at least for the first maps dont let average rank 2 teams fight average rank 10 teams...

im pretty sure they match teams up by the average rank of the players in that team, for example when you join a r8+ pug most of the teams you face are around r6-9+, its quite rare that you face the newest of the nubs, but it does occasionally happen, and not often enough to merit the amount of nub teams heading into ha, unless of course the zaishen really do finish off some teams

Rank means nothing. In reply to all of you who say that "it represents experience in HA" ... it doesn't. Do you know how many non-iway r9/12s are out there? Maybe ... MAYBE 1 or 2. Most of the time when I join ranked pugs they're r6/9 and they do worse than a group from my flist. Yes, I'd rather have a group from my flist (ranks range from r0-r12) than be in an r9 pug. Simply because all of those "ranked" pugs did iway until r8 or 9 and are now trying to use that rank to run balanced (or whatever) and fail miserably at it.

qft
just as my original post says and the point of this whole thread, a team of friends will beat most teams ranked higher than them.

There's defenitely more r6+ HAers that are experienced than what you make it sound like. And it obviously means you've got some form of experience either way. Experience being, you know what you can play and play it well, also, you know the maps well, and know the advantages/disadvantages of each.
Experienced: adj. "Wise from plenty of practice."

And I guess you're one of those two, right? That's a pretty ignorant generalization... I'll just leave it at that.
You're right though, rank doesn't mean much when you have a friends list, but rank does generally mean the person is experience in HA as far as knowing builds, maps and tactics. This doesn't imply any certain level of skill, however.

lmao @ you. Spamming WTB in HA is like going to a gvg match, and asking the opposite team why you're not getting any item drops from the archers you've just killed. Go back to pve.
