This is something i was thinking today. Will that be useful for casters? Mostly monks or the like.

Obviously you don't keep that on primary set, because Zealous gimps your regen and you won't be hitting all the time. But against EDenial and the like, with a monk hiding his energy, could he just throw his spear at warriors when he's not chased? No need to say things like 'but you have to kite you can't attack', if you're in that situation obviously you don't keep a Zealous weapon on, but there's still quite a bit of time against EDenial where you're just hiding your energy and not doing much with no one directly on you.

A Zealous Spear would give you basically 5 pips of regen while you throw it on warriors (usually you don't miss on them since they are rarely strafing anything and tend to move in a straight line). You lose .33E/s, but you gain .66E. Could give you a little edge when you're hiding your energy and just want to recharge it as fast as possible, or when no one is hurt and you don't need to cast right away. Never leave it on ofc, but when you have the chance it seems like it could be a pretty useful thing to have.

And +5E spears of enchanting/fortitude will likely replace all the +5E swords/axes already.

IN PvE maybe, but I monk in pve and I never really have energy problems there to begin with (unless theres some Leeroy Assassins, but no zealous spear would keep up with the energy they consume from me)

well, no, because they're two handed so you use the use of their offhand, plus spears can be modded with 20% enchanting or health +30 and have +5 energy. Your comparison fails :P

However, they'll still suck for casters. Do you really want to gimp your regen? and it's not like the spears won't be strafed. You probably won't gain any energy, and will be hindered more than helped.

JR, you're missing the differences between Bows and Spears...Spears are one-handed, so you can still use them like casters use swords and axes today, except you can actually stay at range if you wanna call targets, pr just add on some extra (small) dmg :P

Zealous short bows would be impractical, as it does not allow for an offhand. However a zealous spear you could use an offhand and your spear could also be +5 energy always zealous spear.

A shortbow has a refire rate of 2 seconds, spears are 1.5.

It's still a bad idea, you're effectively getting a bonus 1 pip of energy regen by doing that, and that's assuming they all hit. You don't have any IAS or instant-fire abilities to raise it above that, which defeats most of the point of having Zealous.

Ya, shortbow vs spear doesn't really hold. 2s refire vs 1.5s refire matters a lot for Zealous, not to mention the 2 handed vs 1 handed.

The thing is though, if you're targetting enemy warriors how often do they strafe 3 damage spears? It won't actually make them worried about going about doing their stuff, and warrior will very likely not leave his target in order to strafe a 3 damage spear.

Even if 1/2 spears miss, well you're still even on your regen. But if any more than that hit, you gain some. And if you notice it doesn't work against a certain team, hell switch to your other set, as i said this is by no mean supposed to be your primary (or likely even secondary) weapon set.

No. Both are equally as impractical and ridiculous for an entirely different reason.

As a Monk in PvP, you are going to be targetted. If you are going to stand there throwing spears at someone whilst someone Orbs you or a Warrior rages your face, then you are dumb. If you are not casting, you are moving. It really has nothing to do with how much energy gained or lost... you could use a Zealous hammer and get a net energy gain - amazing - but you don't, because it's stupid.

Monks have enough energy management to begin with so why would they need to bring something to throw at someone to get energy. And if your a monk and you dont have any e-management then I think you should un-install gw

You can have too much energy management on a Monk?

And your argument is rubbish anyway, in bizarre the situation where Zealous spears WERE viable, people would simply free up their energy management skill slot by using it.

It doesn't seem bad if it weren't for the fact that you would have no time to actually be tossing spears at people. Spears > Axe/Swords for this Zealous tossing, but since you can't take use of it, no biggy.
