Or they could just do what they do now; Titles do not show or do anything in PvP.

I dont know anyone who can get a PVE warrior or monk ready for PVP in that sort of time. Take warrior:

You need the elite skill dragon slash, which is available from Boreas Seabed.

You need the elite skill eviscerate, which can only be got from either the Ring of Fire or the very depths of Sorrows Furnace.

Bulls Charge - Sorrows Furnace or Perdition Rock

Similar story for each warrior elite, and you need 9 or 10 of them from various scattered locations around the two end games

I dont know anyone that can do this in much less than 60-70 hours of grind and @100 platinum. All this, just to get, basically, the ability to switch armour sets and weapons for a small PVP advantage.

the new armor options for pvp chars are still very vague. sure, the article indicates that you'll be able to craft new armor/weapons, but what happens to your old stuff? do you keep them? i personally have a feeling that they'll be deleted, and you'll gain the new stuff.

the only way for anet to fairly implement the new options is to either have the new stuff cost something (factions, perhaps?) or they take away your old gear.

How is it unfair to have a PvP character with 2 or more armor sets?

it's fair for pvp chars to have 2 or more armor sets at creation. however, if they allow new armor sets to be created for free, then it's not. they will either have to make the new armor sets cost factions, or replace an old set of armor "in exchange".

we won't know how they're gonna implement this until we see the final product, however.

Why would it not be fair? Shuld i pay for something, in order to avoid a reroll? It would in no way be unfair to let the PvPers change armorsets between games, or stock up on some new ones.

the keyword is: exchange.

if the armor guy just give them armor for free, and allow the old armor stay in their inventory, it will be what we have now, but reversed. the pvp chars will gain an advantage because they can accumulate every variety of armor in their inventory, and switch on the fly for FREE. pve chars will have to go out and purchase them, which is extremely expensive.

Isn't that sort of what was intended, by creating PvP characters? They get a free armorset anyway, my PvE has to buy it!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're essentially saying that it's unfair because of the price of the PvE items. I don't see that as an issue. PvP characters already can get 2 weapons and 2 offhands each which cost 5000g+materials. No one's really complaining about that. If we're just saying price being what makes things unfair between PvE and PvP then the unlock packs are the same as e-baying gold. Part of the PvE reward is earning what you want and showing off that gold uber item, not a "PvP Holy Rod".

It won't be like what we have now because right now there is no option for PvP characters. You're stuck with 1 set of armor and there's nothing you can do about that. If you want to be able to swap armor, you have to make a PvE char. Allowing more than one set for PvPers will make it fair and I doubt there will be much of an outcry from the PvE community.

But this is really kind of a moot point until we see what happens Friday.

But as it is now, the PvM chars have an advantage, which results in grind>skill (well, more like (grind+skill)>skill), which shuld not be there.

so, basicly, if you need another armor, you would either be forced to reroll, or pay for it, with that system. Most people would most likley chose to reroll (unless they have everything unlocked), which simply would waste the time of the party.

In the ideal world, it would be a perfect balance between PvM and PvP, this will be one step in the right direction (althought the step might end up being slightly to large).

As to the Charr sword and similar items, I think it would be best if they made all item mods available in PvE also available for PvP only characters. There are other things, like 10% universal skill recharge, that aren't available on the PvP creation screen. I know a lot of people don't use those, but for those of us that do it makes sense to have the option. Otherwise you need to get greens and such from PvE.

I prefer to use PvE chars, but I'm all for balance.
