Play an Assassin instead of a Warrior. More damage less concerned about healing, which is what Warriors try to achieve in PvP anyways. Just make sure you understand the mechanics of an Assassin first.

Meta in RA =>
Whammos with mending/defensive enchantment and mostly a sword with sever artery and gash.
A lot of bad monks and generally really players.

Your mostly right, aside from small correction:
Mostly sword with riposite and deadly riposite.

You can't count on ANYBODY helping you in Random Arenas, which is also why they are fun. Personally, I like running my own, unique Assassin build in RA that can heal, nuke, and do hit-and-run.
IN ADDITION TO THIS, YOU NEED PATIENCE
You get one good team for every bad ten teams or so. However, once you get a good team you'll probably get a glad point because you play other teams that aren't good ones.
Don't allow yourself to get frustrated. RA is probably one of the least serious forms of PvP, so just have fun and quit after it gets bad.
|
Thats pretty much it really, if you do manage to get into a team of decent players then you will pretty much roll a glad point because of the horrible teams other people are ending up with.

A horrible build doesn't make anyone an idiot. As told before by some people here I mostly use RA for testing builds or having fun (fast cast restoration hehe) with freaky things. Though I do remember that unlocking TA with an ele was such a pain....
What is your aim btw?
If you want fast glad ponts go monk or stay a self sufficient warrior and hope.
If you want to have fun try any build you feel like to play with.

Also note that sometimes a crazy build can do very well in RA, as long as said crazy build assists your team mates in some way.
I don't do arenas much anymore, but I can tell you I've gotten most of my Glad points with a thunderclap ele...and it's a heck of a lot of fun.

Wouldn't it then be most efficient to play in Team Arena, where you can insure you're not being teamed with inefficeint builds?

Always bring a speed enhancing skill, such as Rush or Sprint. Rush is better in my opinion because it lasts longer, but its harder to get the intial 4 arenal needed. DON'T BRING FRENZY TO RA. Plain and simple you will die even if you stance dance. Tigers Stance is very good. Build up adrenal for all your skills then tiger stance + spam = dead enemy. Also, Protecters Strike is pretty much the skill to have. It will do 100+dmg to a moving foe, not to mention it has a cast time which means you can basically double attack. It's good for any weapons, but best with hammer. As stated earlier, if you truly understand a class you can easily build good builds out of thin air.
|
uh, why dont you bring frenzy? Frenzy is by far my favorite skill in the game and I could not even imagine bring tigers stance over frenzy... its just stupid. Long recharge, blind>tiger pof/sof>tigers... basically anything>tigers. Frenzy is the ultimate attack speed buff and when ur job is to deal damage, bring frenzy just dont be stupid with it...

QFT.
But yeah. I find that if I want to get a good amount of consecutives in RA, my best bet is to play a ninja monk. Not only is it hella fun, most of the RA players don't think to attack you, or give up and move on if you can out heal them. It also gives me practice so I don't completely suck ass at monking in GvG >.>

You forgot to mention the ultimate mending whammo elite: Healing Hands!
Seriously though, RA is pretty much blood necros, whammos, and rangers. Every so often you face a monk, which ruins everything. Easiest thing I've found is just run a squishy class with a build designed to trash the whammos/rangers, since they ALWAYS go for the squishy targets, and they have an attention span rivalling most roadkill.
Incendiary Arrows is, by the way, godly in RA. My brother used to run it constantly, if they had a monk he'd just blow them away with that, then hit tab looking for the res signet and distracting shot it. Most builds get severely screwed up by incendiary one way or another.

RA (Like said many times here) is a place to try out all of your new builds but...i have made a good 10 of my glad points running a boon-prot..only downside is that "I" find monks very boring..

OK. It also seems that the only time I do good in RA, no matter what my build or what my toon, is when my team has a good monk. Nothing else seems to determine success or failure more than this. Second in importance is fighting a dumber team, or a team with bad mixture (like 3 sins and a mesmer, or really 3 or anything and no monk) Third in importance is a Rt setting up spirits on my team. As all these things are out of my control, I'm sort of thinking the RA is not that great to play. But how do I get on a team in TA?
Even tho a good monk leads to sucess in RA, a idiotic team leads that monk to the /rage button, only way to get better is to get owned. Go play, get owned, learn.

Heavy degen/Temple strike assasins + wanderlust rits. Malaise and Wither are a top choice with more expirienced players, some run e denial and then you have the occasional random builds and addrenaline spikers.
Question 2: Are warriors not that good in RA?
Warriors are great in RA because of the high dmg, since people realized, oh he just killed me, they started running anti melee chars and casting indepude on the monks cause theyre just so leet.
Question 3: What is the killer necro or mesmer combo that is nailing me?
Run into battle first, get targeted first, simple
Question 4: how do you get into a team in TA without being in a guild?
You type players names into the party box and hit invite

i ran and E/A Starburst ele for a few times and got 10 wins easy cause i simply did waay too much dmg. i death charged to my target, then starburst then flame/inferno then immolate. this owned against monks and especially rits who cast all their spirits in one spot. And i do 210+ dmg against wars that use frenzy lmao. however after i used it a few more times, monks started bringing spirit bond .

in short: HA - bad, RA - good
RA/TA is the only place you can get decent players to play with.
When I started playing guild wars I went to HA, got such bad groups that
I dropped it completly.
I've played RA for some time now and just returned to try again HA.
The general player there is useless. Sure if you're r6 then you get good players, but most of us are not.
I got guops that just run into showers, people come with no interrupts.
Cannot deal with simple ele that in RA an avarage group would not let them
live for 30 sec and will be out of health, energy and steam with out one drop of blood, just wipe entire teams that do not know how to fall back, how to
interrupt, degen, aviod, drain and monk.
In RA if you join such a team, you know it after 1 min and can start over.
In HA you wait 15 min at list to find out they are no good.
In RA you get to play with good players, in HA they are r3-6 so you dont get to play wit them at all.
In short, for the majority of us players, avarage level of player in RA is much higher that in HA. And when they suck you can bail out fast (1 min game) rather then wait 15 min to find out.
