The only "exciting map change" I can think of would be getting rid of scarred earth. Fixing maps that used to support 3/6 teams doesn't strike me as exciting really...
On the other hand, I'm looking forward to when this new change doesn't increase the number of groups in halls, and I get a nice little skip to halls with a 4 monk backline and an n/mo bipper for support. Looks like my tiger will come a few months sooner.

first of i would like to say that i am against the change.
However, the people saying that HA's will become less innovative because it will force groups to run 2 monk backlines or gimmicks relying on 1 or 2 certain skills are shortsighted fools.
Ya, for the first month or 2 the builds will mostly be ViM, balanced, or Blood spikers trying to make their builds work in this new arena, but after this people who have actually figured out DIFFERENT builds that work will start to become more of the norm(E/Mo healball anyone?).
With this reduction of skills to 48 skillspots, it will only increase the creativity required TO GET THE SAME JOB done as with the origional 64 skills.
Next not all of the pve ers, gvg ers, and ta/ra ers once they get bored will leave ha for good. Some will saty and some will leave, but thats a fact of life so i shouldn't have ahd to say it.
Finally, this has create an evolve or die situation. I dont care if you got your pheonix emote and are now complaning that you can now no longer run IWAY to farm some noobs. This will honestly force everyone's brain to come up with new strategies that will be most effective in the new ha.
Just to reiterate i am against this change, but i am even more sick of people complaining about this with such ravenous lunacy.

I like the change for two reasons.
Firstly, I'm excited by the possibility of some new builds and ideas, at least initially.
Secondly, I looking forward to getting some of my guildies more interested in HA. It will be a lot easier for us as a guild to field a 6-man team and provides a nice intermediate step between TA and GvG.

Lets make a hypotetical situation...John Doe is bored and wants to play a mmorpg..he googles for a bit and finds a list with..goe son website looks at screenshots registres and downloaded client and logs on..starts life at lvl 1 like he would in GuildWars.John Doe grinds for endless amounts of hours and is still stuck at lvl 20 where he can only kill birds and sheep and dogs..while X Dominator X has glow armor and has presence when he arives at town and kills everything with just a 1st bough skill...John Doe get mad (hes also very sexualy frustarted lol) goes on forums and make a thread about faster level gain and what the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO would you think the admin would do...bend over for John Doe so he can be cool like x dominators x ..when x dominator x worked for his levels the good ol way....seems to me John Doe wants it easy..like pver and people who cannot get into teams and grind a bit for then selves in GuildWars.....Know this..that even though GW tries so stand out of the rest and it did oh so well...there are unwriten rules and principals....4.665 for renowned hero status is a prestigious thing and is alot of fame...nobody in guildwars is guily of achieving that thats by w/e means neccesary (i.e. the builds they used) they still grinded..they still had to press 12345678 even if it is to activate iway or spam spirits and ofcoues heal and prot....I mean come on dudes we gridned also man..and altho i think showing rank titles is a bit chessy ...we did manage to get 4.665k fame+++++++ know what I mean..The thing GW did was made grinding levels not a problem..but Fame was one of the main things to Grind in tombs to become prestigious and known..and dbl fame weekend w/e no comment we did our thing tho it has many factors i dont wana talk about it im alrdy wrting an essay as it is.
if yall think 8v8 ppl play the same thing 6v6 will be even worse...cuz the buil that wins will leak to gw tv and everyone will run it...Yo w/e this is a long essay im going to stop here...anet your making a big mistake if u implenet this

I'm kinda tired of the '10 professions, 6 char slots, you need 2 monks you have 4 left omgwtf ANet?' argument...
First, you -don't- need 2 monks. Especially with Paragon and Dervish coming in, which both can heal to some extent WHILE supporting offense. Just like E/Mos can do some support healing while throwing Fireballs all over the place. You don't need 2 damn monks backline, we held halls 4 times in a row in the weekend with a single BLighter. Just put some support healing/defense on other chars that ALSO support your offense. This imo actually leads to MUCH more variety in builds than what you had with the strict incredibly boring 3 monks backline (that truly didn't require good monks appart maybe from the infuser that needed good reflexes), because you have to think of what you want support chars to be in order to support your build (Paragon healing with shouts supporting warriors? E/Mo with AOEs and Heal Other? Dervish with his 5/1/2 Heal Party?). And plz remember that Resto Rt are also in the game, and honestly it's about time people realize they can heal just as well as a monk, and have more energy efficient skills... We run 1 Resto-1 BLight in GvG and only 1 Resto with no one else having defense in TA and they are perfect as primary healer and are actually free to pick w/e they want from w/e secondary for elite. Hell, honestly good teams might actually make it with 3 people that have some support healing/protection and no monk for higher pressure.
As for 10 professions and 6 char slots... How many different profession do you see in the current popular builds?
Blood spike... 7 N-1Rt? Or sometimes 6N-1Rt-1R. 3 prof, great.
RSpike... 4R-1N(or Me/N)-3Mo? 3 prof, great
Vimway? 4W-4R, or sometimes N or Rt or Me, etc. You have usually 2-4 prof.
Balanced is better because it has more variation, but still... 3 Mo, 2 R, 2 W, 1N/E?
It can vary depending on the team build, but often you'll have 4 prof. Sometimes 5.
Usually you have 3-4, SOMETIMES 5 prof in a build. And 10 prof wouldn't have changed anything for 8v8 HA, it would still be the same or nearly. Because people focus their build on one main strategy and pick the classes that do it the best. In 6v6 i expect to see as many classes variations than you did in 8v8, you'll just have less copies of the same (like that extra choker because you don't know what else to pick).
For spikes, i expect them nerfed too. Yes, they can work still, but either you'll have close to no defense, or you'll have very tight spike (i.e. you don't overkill at all). This means that 1 spiker interrupted/shutdown can make the spike unable to kill. I expect a single guy with PD as elite to be able to stop nearly every spike type there will be (you can PD a dual shot as easily as an oppressive gaze), because they won't have enough overkill to make up for 1 guy interrupted (and you can't prevent a PD interrupt out of spell breaker). 5 Necros don't instant kill with a blood spike (and that's assuming you started with 6 Necros and forgot spirits, etc.). 4 Oppressive Gaze = 400 damage, nobody dies from that, and you got close to 2 sec to heal before the afterspike...
As for all the 'you'll need to cover for x x x and x, have interrupts, windborne, etc. but you'll have less skills'... NOBODY knows the map changes. Some game type might be dropped altogether, others can be changed enough too or maps redesigned so you don't necessarily need x skill. So wait and see before saying you'll need the same things you did in the current HA.
I'm really with Squidget here... wait and see before whining that everything won't work. Even with what people say here, I don't believe personally that people on ANet are brainless morons with 0 foresight that can't think of all you said in this thread and only look at polls and think 'omg let's please the pve crowd'. If they make the change, it's because they believe it will do good, and considering THEY know what the full change actually is (since they know new maps, AND upcoming arenas in Nightfall) and you don't, it's kinda silly to go into flame mode. And no, there is 0 chance of them changing their mind before releasing it when they annouced it officially. I don't even believe someone can think that seriously.

Stop complaining. They already announced it, its going to happen.
Yes you can create more creative builds now, because you won't need the same overused skills just to survive. Drop a ward or two, drop one of those chokers, etc.. Yes it will be harder, but only because its new. Learn to add some sort of support on each person...
Bloodspike wont last long. 6 nec/mos alone wont work. 4-5 nec/mos aren't going to kill anything unless your infuser's on LSD. Vimway is easy fame. Iway won't work period. Smite shouldn't be a problem if you're half decent. At least those fotm's won't be a nuisance anymore. There's one good side of the update.
No I'm not pleased about it, but who cares, it's going to happen. As long as HA still requires monks, then whatever.
Still not happy? Email Anet support telling them not to do it. Then they can give you the "Update your graphics card drivers, thank you" response, which doesn't have anything to do with your problem. Then your display craps out and you don't have to worry about playing 6v6. Everybody wins.

Adapt or be left out.
6vs6 HA is good because those who want an 8vs8 battle field can just go gvg. see, it's not just 8vs8 ha still house old mind numbing builds that ive seen month s ago, but also it "steals" the players from trying and putting to their heads that GvG = best pvp avenue that guild wars currently is offering us.
|
Oh you are so great.
Now...
"Adapt of be left out." No iwayer cried of this nerf, they moddifed the build and adapted to the change. PLEASE do not flame this change, if you don't like it, GO GvG! I believe there are trying to make GvG the center of tactical pvp play. Let's see.
(nightfall updates) 1. 1 versus 1 hero's battle
2. 4 versus 4 random arena battle
3. 4 versus 4 team arena battle
4. 6 VERSUS 6, HERO'S ASCENT INTERNATIONAL BATTLES
5.8 versus 8 Guild Versus Guild battle
A.net has basically focused most of the skill changes, to balance out gvg, and now making gvg the most players allowed in in pvp.

Some of you seem to be pretty upset about this... I really don't think its that big of a deal. I think it's just new and different more than anything, and change is honestly the only thing thats keeping me in this game right now. Whether they're fair or balanced or not, updates and changes are what makes the game really fun for me. The more the metagame is allowed to become stagnant, the more boring it gets. It's much more fun to get on and come up with and test new builds and skills right after a change then it is to run the same thing thats been effective for the past few months. So I say bring on the change. People that don't like it don't have to play, but I think that it will be their loss.

So to warm up or test a GvG build, you must smurf to see how it will be in 8v8. Lovely

What kind of GvG build could you actually test in HA anyway?
Most GvG builds simply didn't have what it takes to win in HA because you couldn't adapt your strategy there as a counter to different things. Few GvG builds actually have any chance of winning if they're encaged with a blood spike...
I honestly think you can test more how something can work in GvG in 6v6 HA than in 8v8 HA. Because it happens very often that fight in GvG are 6v6, with flag runner away and some ganker/counter ganker somewhere, or splits happening, etc. A 8v8 death match is not seen that often in GvG, and it's there it's because both teams decided it was at their advantage to let it happen. Otherwise you'd still see blood spikes in there a lot.
