me and four friends from different guilds recently made a new guild to climb the ladder and I wondered if anybody had any advice since the other thread seems to be for large pve guilds.

Set times to GvG. More organization -> more GvGs -> happy members and yall will continue to progress.

Designate people to call strategy and tactics. It is better to follow one person (even if he might be wrong) than to have everyone do their own thing. Takes a lot of stress out of vent.

Thanks alot for the advice. Another thing how big should I allow the guild to be if im trying to have a core of 8 players in gvgs

You'll need the following:

Vent/TS
Forums
Scheduled GvG (not arbitrarily scheduled either, choose a time that seems to work best with the majority of your players' schedules)
12 core players (Ideally, you'll start your guild with a group of players you already know and like to play with. You should have at least a group of 6 before you even consider opening your own GvG guild.)

Thanks for the help guys I have 6 for far 2 of which are long time friends and this is just the first day. We got a forum and vent but I decided not to get times until I grab the rest of the core. Recruitment is the hardest part though, are there any other places to look for new recruits than team iq, guild hall and guru?

Also a constant build is nice for newer guilds.

And let player who enjoy/are good at playing a profession stick to that one.

The most important part is to have people on the team you respect. Don't rage when you lose.

Obs can now be used to watch your own guild's matches (actually it ony seems to be workign about half the time for us but still.
If you lose, pm the team that beat you, ask them for advice, most teams will give it. Then watch the match and try to pick out your own mistakes, it should really help you improve as a guild.

I guess if you were to recruit ingame, TA or HA are the most viable options. TA is the better of the two Id say, even if there are less people there.

Ignore this advice. Don't recruit from in-game. Use the forums and IRC and word of mouth. Whenever you need an 8th, ask people on your friends list for reccomendations. Keep guesting the same people or friends of friends. You'll find the right people. It will take longer to "fill" your roster this way, but it will be people who will be a better fit than random PuGs from TA/RA/HA.

I took the advice and now I've got 12 players that I trust from various pvp sites. the only thing left is just small questions like: how much should I rotate everyone so that everyone can play and I keep a good consistent team and others.

Everyone in your guild should be core gvg quality. If you don't want them gvging with you, don't have them in your guild. You should be gvging when you have 8 on, including your tactics and spike caller (and specific positions only certain people play.) If you have more than 8 people on at a time then rotate them in, play 2 gvgs and sub someone in and repeat for as long as you still have over 8 on. You'll likely find that getting 9+ on regularly is more difficult than you'd think at first.

This is definetly a good place to go recruit skilled members if your players meet the critera.

The Team-iQ site has alot of good forum posts on kiteing, preproting, positioning, and any other useful GvG information you can think of.

I can personally vouche for the iQ site. Thats where I found my top20 guild at.
