The only problem in halls is that you cant rely on the third team anymore to apply some pressure, and even with a curse nec on the paragons (who will most likely get the two thumpers on him and therefore be on his arse 80% of the time) you still gotta have some luck to be able to kill em within 4 minutes.
So i wouldnt mind if they'd nerf this stuff as it gets annoyin to get to halls 5 friggin times facing the same holding team with the third team being a clueless heroway.
|
OMG! you were there too? tbh, this is becoming lame, we had run the same build and now we hate it, last night we just /roll 100 to decide a match, and using a necro is like saying Necro = thumpers target, I'm waiting for the next "skill balancing" update
I saw spearmen using a QZ+Famine+Quicksands build, based on mesmers with mind wrack and spirit shackles, energy burn and others, I must say it was pretty slow, but effective

It's just a fotm, nothing else, the people who come up with builds and are successful at them are those who have the fun, not those who copy them
To those flaming me, i couldn't care less...
And Pi's build has 2x necros in it, it rolls this build over so easy... I don't see why you guys are complaining, since you're making a load of free fame on the people running paragon build

This build isn't hard to beat, just get surgers, hexers, etc. Too bad you don't see too many of those these days. Thank god it's full of heroes & fire eles.

The build is weak and its not a real match for good team. The reason they are holding for so long with it are the dead hours they play with it, and the teams they face ( usually another holding build, and some silly heroway with searing flames ), nothing to be excited about. Not like fame means anything in heroway meta anyway.

This is a good holding team, however, the offense is really low, if you face another team with two monks and a paragon, it'll be a long fight. Any team with melee shut down can cripple the team. Wards hurts. And really, can 2 good thumpers kill two good monks?

good question, actually, i don`t really understand 100% why people are using at this build 2 tumpers, i understand the pressure each thumper can deal, the elite skill Rampage... is brilliant, and so on, but, as supaet pointed out, since at this build the offense is so "low", i dont understand why people sacrifice the spike ability that 2 warrior could bring into the game.
once i was told, the main reason people went "bananas" about those new thumpers was just not the pressure those toons could deal, but, unlike frenzy that expose you to be punished for "hitting 33% faster" , those new thumpers regardless the environment ( an environment full of aoe dmg ele`s) could keep theirselfs 24/7 at this 33% faster rate without worry, this alone by itself,as i was told, makes worth it losing the eventually coordinate spike 2 warriors can bring alone to take down one monk or whatever.
so, regarding the question supaet raised, and regarldess what i was told, and thinking about what i saw or i felt playing monk while facing the new "holding build", , i would say if there is a couple of skills at the build to "stop" melee toons (wards, a few hexes, you name it) i say no, there is no way a good thumper, can kill a good monk, even without any anti melee skill at the build, i would say no, no, no way a experience monk will be killed by a thumper

Depends what kind of thumper. You could make a thumper which can kill a monk if there is no anti-melee in the build.

A single thumper can kill a good monk easily, even if he is the only damage dealer and the monk has another monk or two to back him up.
You must have been dealing with the myriad noob thumpers that have started appearing. This is what Rampage As One has done. I see thumpers without Crushing Blow, they just use RaO and then c and spacebar, nothing else. To a monk it is just mildly annoying.
It is like when they added the shock axe premade to the character creation screen. Did that mean there were loads of really good spiking warriors around? No, it meant there were loads of warriors using frenzy+healsig while being attacked, randomly using shock when not spiking until they have 0 energy left, and generally not spiking a target at all, just being a minor annoyance.

no, symbiotic bond and Otyugh's cry. Much more effective.
Yes both those skills are a necessity now simply because the rampage as one bug which allowed you to use the skill without even having a pet was fixed.

lol are you kidding me? If I ever see a thumper solo a monk, nevermind with another monk backing him up, I'd bust my left kidney from laughing too hard. Your only hope would be to daze a monk with bestial mauling and hope the other monk is stuffing his face with cheerios or something while not paying attention to the game. 2 thumpers vs. 2 monks, you're gonna need some damn lucky thumpers and shitty monks to score kills fast enough.

I have, plenty.
Talking about thumpers + monks for 500-1000 ranked guilds.
So a very good thumper Vs a very good monk I didn't see.
But a thumper with Bestial Mauling or Disrupting Lunge can do wonders with a monk. Also a thumper is used for pressure, lots of it + interrupts. A monk with a thumper on him means someone is going to die, it can be either the monk or someone else from his group. Let the monk choose. GG.
