haha. For me the few 10 win streaks i've had have taken at least 30 minutes or more. I think 5k for that is reasonable. especially since there will be a lot of times for most of us when we dont quite get to ten wins.
For the ones who are so good at it they can get 3 or 4 10 win streaks an hour or win till they get tired and decide to quit IMO they deserve to be rich cause they own. At least more than someone who killed 1 million trolls with their 55 monk.
One thing I like about this game over World of Farmcraft is that the farmers don't win just becuase they spend 60 hours a week getting the best equipment. Gold awards allow the really good Pvpers to get the fanciest stuff just from doing what they do and love to do best.

25 minutes is about the absolute minimum for a Gladiator point, and that's running a noobstomping build like Shoveway against very poor teams with a very organised Guild team on Vent.
But, I think 5k for every 10 wins is way too much. R3 Gladiators would all have earned 500,000 gold. Rank 4 Gladiators would have earned 84,000 gold. Rank 5 Gladiators would have earned 1,400,000 gold, and Rank 6 Gladiators like would have earned 2,330,000 gold. Sound like alot to you? That's because it is.

so you are saying you think a farmer that consistantly makes 10k per hour deserves to be rich but a pvper who can get 2 glad points an hour doesn't? sorry I disagree. Also you make those gladiator ranks seem so trivial.
A rank 4 gladiator had to get 1680 wins all of them part of ten win streaks to get that title. You think 840,000 gold is too much for that?
That uber rich rank 6 gladiator had to win 7,550 matches to get his couple of million gold. all in streaks of 10. each streak, according to you, taking around a half an hour. so 377.5 hours by my count. almost ten weeks of your full time job being to get gladiator points.
sound like a lot of time? That's becuase it is.

To be honest, yes.
Oh, and Glad 6 = 466 points. Glad 7 = 755.

Zul must be someone who doesn't
participate in the economy much. Even a bad farmer can make 100k in a few hours easily. I do it farming Ghial's staff. So to me a couple of million gold for what amount to at best a few hundred hours of gameplay...
I'm sorry but I don't see the big deal. I'm willing to bet whoever spent that kind of time in the TA and had that level of success (100% 10 gladpoint teams) knows a ton more than I would know about this gaqme if I farmed some area that whole time.
Hell you can make probobly 5k or more per hours just doing AB as long as the queues aren't too big.
So we'll have to agree to disagree on this point but I think the math shows that I'm right on this. 5k per glad point is far from being out of line with PVE questing, farming or running for the gold in terms of reward per unit of time.

I have to agree here 5k for 25 mins work isnt the greatest income ive ever heard of, plus when u get to 9 and perhaps lose your pretty ticked off. I'd make tonnes more money farming trolls in 25 mins, so i dont think its unfair 5k for one glad point at all.
5k for one glad point ftw

I personally like the idea of 5k per glad point, and here's why:
1. Using a rank 4 gladiator as an example.. 168 glad points = 840 plat.
Let's say it takes an average of 35 minutes per glad point.. that gives us 98 hours of gameplay. Now, let's be realistic and throw in a couple variables that exist in our imperfect world: time spent forming a team and time wasted on streaks that don't reach 10.. we'll say this adds another 22 hours, making our HoG a nice round number of 120. A person that spends 30 hours a week in guildwars doing nothing but TA(in theory) will earn rank 4 in 4 weeks, roughly a month(know anyone that got r4 glad in a month?), and the reward for his/her* efforts up to that point would be a total of 840k. Seems reasonable enough to me, considering that the same amount of time spent doing something that is in all ways inferior to any form of pvp could easily earn twice that.
2. A monetary award for being good at something that demands far more skill than anything pve... what a novel idea.
3. TA would probably become more competitive, glad points would become harder to "farm". Any objections there?
4. I'd love the competition.
In the end, i'm not saying it has to be 5k, i'm just saying that it would be a reasonable amount. It can be less gold, or some kind of item that can be traded for various things(callback on medallions, anyone?). Bottom line, these types of rewards would make TA much more interesting, and more fun for those of us that are competitive in that arena.

Improving Random and Team Arenas
It appears that Zui's improving arenas thread died recently... guess I'll start from scratch
Random Arenas: The only improvement I'd like to see here is no awarded gladiator point for 10 wins. 10 wins should only get you to Team Arenas where you have an oppurtunity to face real teams with your disaster of a team and legitimately earn a gladiator point.
Team Arenas: Implement an NPC that displays all current teams with more than 10 wins. Observer mode for high streak matches. Gladiator title emotes .. Another thing that would be grand: when the 2 currently highest streaking teams get matched against each other, the match could have some special name, maybe even it's own map, and the victors would get some sort of supplemental reward.. an extra glad point just for winning that match, or some kind of item, money, whatever. I know it's a lot of work that Anet's probably not interested in doing, but it sure would be fun
I'll let zui take it from here.

If you couldn't get a glad from RA, there'd be like 3 people ever in RA. I don't really think that's a great idea, though I understand why you'd say that. IMO, it's easier to get glads in TA than it is in RA. Maybe that's just me though.
Obs mode for TA would be A+, fantastic. I would <3 anet forever. And emotes would be cool, though I don't know if it's honestly needed.

It's easier for you to get glads in TA because you're in a TA oriented guild. How many other people do you think have an easier time getting glad points in TA over RA?
People would still play RA, just like they did before there were glad points. It would only get rid of the RA gladiators that get all their points in RA because they think they're god's gift to guildwars for carrying nub teams through 10 wins, or people that synch enter all day in an arena that's supposed to be random.

I guess I would be ok with a reward. People that hold halls get items from a chest, I'd be ok with something like that as well. For every 10 consecs you open a chest.
I'd love getting money for my glads as well, though I highly, HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt this would ever happen.

This argument is funny- because it is kinda pointless. No one is “Rich” by farming in Guildwars.
IGE currently sells 500k for $32. Which means that 10K costs you roughly $0.64- so all your guys out there farming 10k an hour in Guildwars could be farming gear WAY faster by working at McDonalds and spending your hourly wage at IGE.
The point is that gold is pretty worthless in this game. Status, respect, and competition are what the PvP community is really after. Give us an observer mode, a ranking system, or emotes. This will raise competition in TA.
