Another Double Fun Weekend ~ Double Champ Points
Another Double Fun Weekend 5 December 2006
This coming weekend, there are two ways for you to double your PvP fun: You’ll receive double GvG Faction for unique kills, matches won, and flawless victories, plus you will get double Champion Points when both competing guilds have a rating of 1200+ on the Guild Wars Ladder. This Double Fun Weekend starts at Noon PST on Friday, December 8, and ends at 11:59 p.m. PST on Sunday, December 10.
What are ANET thinking? Why run a double champ point weekend on the LAST weekend of the season, seriously do they just want PuG guilds to run lame builds and tank people in the top 50 so they cant qualify or something? They always have the worst timing with things seriously, maybe think twice about when you do stuff rather then just doing them ~~

im not really sure what ur thinking when u say people will pug to rank 50 .... people try to get highest rank possible in gvg regardless , even running lame builds. Any1 above 1300 rating will be able to counter most of those build pretty easily
I just find dbl champion pts stupid cause we are going to see noob bloodspike guilds like GTA running around with champion title

What I mean is, friends in top ranked guilds will get together and run guilds just for that weekend with some sort of lame build. Put 1+1 together and you might understand ~~

Noobs running gimmick builds to exploit the ridiculous mechanics of the ladder? That's crazy talk!

Let's have a weekend in which the greatest reward goes to a select few guilds in which half of those have FotM'd their way to the top and/or are running cheap gimmick spikes! C'mon now.

Every special weekend thus far has been designed to appeal to a specific subset of the playerbase. There's nothing at all wrong with a double champ point weekend, but holding it on the last weekend of the season is pretty stupid.

This may surely shake up the ladder...
...or not, as the top guilds that have their top32 place guaranteed will just use their smurf guilds to farm Champs.

uh...GTA members probably have their title by now.
It seems like this would be bad, but I think it mostly means more teams will be grinding for points instead of just a few. the ladder is already retarded, this isn't going to worsen it by any means.
And yeah, most of the events have been fairly dumb. I did not care about every single pve event, so it's nice to have one that caters to me for a change.
But as many have said, doing it the last weekend of a season is really RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing stupid.

No one, in any guild, is close to maxing out the champion title yet. Even the very highest ranked players are only a small fraction of the way there.

Seems pretty stupid indeed, but i don't think it will affect the top50 that much. It will probably be like 6v6 Tombs: lots of new players, most didn't pass UW.

How about 5v5? I think we need a 5v5 arena because we already have a 6v6 arena.
Oh and while at it, let's add some exciting map changes:
- Put a lever to open doors outside each base on Warrior's Isle.
- Remove Isle of Weeping stone from the game.

haha, sooo many college students are going to fail exams because they'll be farming champ points instead of studying.
at the end of the season too... there couldn't be a worse time for this.

ANET seem to be on crack or something, 1st the DoA crazy stuff and now an event which will make guilds just farm points like crazy with gay lamer builds... yeah.. even if you are cemented in the top 32, you still may need to GvG but it would be a HUGE risk facing, say a pug guild with top 10 guild players in a low ranked guild souly made for the weekend. -27 rating anyone?

I didn't even know it could be maxed out. I was referring to the champion (1) title.

Holding it this late in the season isn't a bad idea. Guilds on average have the highest rating near the end, which means more people get to enjoy the double champ points.
