Lol seriously.
What should have been said is "Good teams stopped playing because they found 6-person teams annoying and therefore HA is bad because good teams stopped playing".
Personally, I like 6-man HA better than 8-man because it's easier to form teams. It's a great thing for Guilds to do later at night when people have gone to bed and there aren't enough on for GvG.

You're right because just about anything can get to halls today. I wouldn't be suprised if my grandma (whos never used a computer before btw) could grab 3 heroes 2 hench and get to HoH.

Umm if your guild invinted spirit spam, you'd be a lot higher than r5... people got a lot more fame than r0->r5 in 1 run of spirit spamming... unless you were a bench warmer for your guild or something... not to mention dryder made every build in the game so clearly your statement is not true.

Good teams stopped playing because they find 6vs6 HA a crap pvp arena, letting the crap players play which makes HA crappier.

So which is it? Can only SF and necro teams do well, or can just anyone go and get to halls with only old build? Because I think it's one or the other.

So yeah. I played a lot and had a significant role in shaping our build. However we never really held halls for any extended period of time like some other groups did. I think 3 in a row was the best we managed. People hated us and we got ganged up on *a lot*. Plus it didn't help that we weren't exceptionally experienced or skilled; we just had the super-effective build type leading us to defeat basically everything in a straight-up fight. So in the end I only got up to rank 4 (almost 5) after the dust settled. Back then you didn't get fame for the first match as well.
Also, why would you expect me to lie about creating a build, but tell the truth about my rank?

So, uh, it will help them. It also gives a more direct indication of the holding hero, so everyone can tell this at a glance. That's bad how? Anyway, maybe it should just be that the ghost glows brighter when he's holding.

Some people forget and don't give a damn if you invented something or did something ground breaking. all they remember are the people who got to rank something playing something.
But some people still remember. coz i used to see your guildname popping along with MS, NR, AeC taking HoH.
and getting rank 9+ via spirit spam (coz a battle can take hours i heard) means you got no life so it's understandable that you only got your current rank.

Anyone (even my grandma whos never touched a computer before) can get to HoH in its current state. I've never said otherwise....

GotW says a lot of BS but whatever, I guess I was wrong. I assumed that if your guild made one of the best, if not the best, holding build of all time you'd be a little bit higher rank but I guess I was wrong. My apologizies.

So I just wanted to point out that while you may be experienced enough to know to attack the holding team, there are many players in HA today that have no freakin' clue whats going on and thsi will help them. So again, I'm all for this idea...

Well its fairly hard to remember someone who won halls 3 consec vs someone who's name flashed up on your screen like 50+ times in a row, not to mention this was all over a year ago. If I'm going to remember either of the two over a year later, it'll be the 50+ hold guys.
Also, its pretty hard to pinpoint who was the first to be innovative and run something new, especially with folks like dryder running around taking the credit within minutes after something has been run. But if this guy's guild really did make spirit spamming, props to them.

HA is absolutely horrible atm.
When 6v6 was introduced, many good players stopped playing simply because HA was changed so drastically that it threw out the whole utility vs damage concept that HA was already poorly balanced around, which was a huge part of the fun related to HA. Many builds could counter most FoTMs and hold halls provided the right players were playing. Builds got so inflexible in 6v6 which really caused many rock/paper/scissors games. When these players that enjoyed this type of "fair" and "balanced" gameplay stopped playing because they felt that HA was getting worse, the overall level of HA dropped, therefore creating less competition and enabling lesser skilled players to win.
Most people that ENJOYED HA before the change to 6v6 stopped playing.
If you read around the forum archives you will see what I mean: A 6v6 thread was created back when HA was 8v8 and you will be surprised if you read the comments. Many people including JR and notably members from kThx (sno, avarre, etc) were saying that 6v6 was better, but most the current HAers at the time were opposed to this change. These people that were in favor of 6v6 are not even playing HA, and as far as I have seen none of them have stepped into HA since it turned 6v6, except sno. I don't mean to pick on anyone, this is just the best example I can think of.
Now I don't mean to sound like a hypocrite because i DID play quite a bit of 6v6 pre-nightfall. It was fun, I enjoyed it, and I won quite a bit. Many 8v8 HAers (myself included) kept playing HA because it was still fun, but not as fun as it was back in 8v8.
These people all stopped playing post-nightfall, and the only people left were the complete newbies and fame-farmers. Talking about this would be beating a dead horse, but heroes were the last straw and everyone that remotely enjoyed the arena in the past simply stopped HAing.
Now the place is filled with low ranked newbie herowayers, high ranked fame farmers, and a minute amount of "old timers" that, I am guessing, still enjoy HA more than anything else (Forgot the Ghostlyyyyy come to mind).
Anet = a clueless bunch. If you think that I am BSing and just spewing shit out of my ass, just visit HA ID1. The overall population HAS decreased, killing 5 heroes and 1 real player ISN'T PvP, the level of play in HA IS at an all time low, 6v6 DOES reduce creativity and promotes "rock/paper/scissors" games.
For those thinking "go play GvG nub, we already have 8v8!" don't even bother posting.
To end it with a lovely quote from Yunas, "If you think winning halls is fun now you would have gotten an orgasm from winning it back in 8v8."

I have to agree with your view on the 8v8 Vs 6v6 situation, I liked 8v8 much more…But
With the introduction of the new nightfall skills and professions A-net had to bring tombs to a 6v6 concept if they want to keep the current maps.
Because a 8 man team would be to become too strong if it comes to Spiking , Holding and Iway
The new spirits, traps, etc would give such a big boost to IWAY, that u are forced to be very carefully with a lot of counters to overcome them…
Spikes with 8 are ofc more powerful then with 6. Even if u have 3 monks in a 8 man team, if the spike is perfect its almost impossible to heal it… and I see a lot of new skills that are very powerfull to spike with (remoded ranger spike, ect)
Well if u can hold with 6 monk spikers, u can bring a elementalist with wards and a ranger with spirits ( or 2 paragons). To make it even more impossible to kill them…
So I think A-net didn’t want to make it 6v6 but they had no other choise, maybe when the change the map’s and objectives it will become 8v8 again….
