Skill statistics
Any chance there could be public skill statistics in at least top50 GvG? As in, how many players took each single skill in the battle?
The guild wars atm boasts a huge amount of skills, but in practice only a small small amount of them is ever used. That is, if we dont count PvE and RA where just about everything is used, not because it's good but because.. well i dont know why.

That's near impossible, too much data methinks.
There's always statistics after a championship.

Anet already tracks skill use. Not sure how wide they cast the net but they've got the tech to do it.

Hit B, watch the meta unfold.
generic Searing flames bar.
generic Shadow Prison bar.
generic Thumper Bar.
generic domiantion bar
generic ele runner bar.
generic blinding surge bar.
and about 4 monk bars, mostly the same skills.
Generic dervish bar, featuring melandru or grenth
Then there would be random other stuff like bloodspike bars and obs flame spike bars.
That's about it.

lol Thom, i know, that's exactly my point
Bankai - i know it's a lot of data, i didnt mean the full statistic, but at least a short-range-scan so to say. Let's say 1-day scan per week, wouldnt be too demanding i think (but i might be wrong).

Ah, yeah, that's manageable. Otherwise we'd see massive graphs.

I don't think it's that difficult to tell what's being used and not used. Pretty much every skill can be broken down into "good skill," "good when you bring <insert good skill>," or "sucks."
Although I would be interested to know how SF is doing in its race against savage shot and reversal of fortune as the most-used skill in the game.

RoF will always win, because: a.) it wtfpwns; b.) it's been around since.. the BWE's. Nothing can ever take RoF's spot. Ever.

No it doesn't really. What's the last time you've ran a monk bar without RoF? or what's the last time you didn't have a monk in your team?

What? It IS a viable monk build, and it does not use RoF.
Though RoF will indeed be the most used skill.

According to ANET's old stance on nerfs that one should have been nerfed long ago. I mean if everyone uses it nearly who plays a monk, they surely it is also overpowered. Same with Savage and Distracting shot.

There is a difference between widely used and imbalanced.

Imbalanced sort of implies that something's not only strong enough to make a build around, but strong enough to limit the number of alternatives that can measure up to it.

Reversal of Damage can measure up to it.
Ok, not really.
I'd still like to see someone use Reversal of Damage in playoffs. Reversal of damage during a spike, immediately spike the war. If he's in frenzy you just dealt 94 damage (at 9 smiting). RoF+RoD is also a nice combo.
Ofcourse, noone would spec in smiting.
