Losing my roots as a mesmer
im sad to say, that i have lost my roots as a mesmer. now, mostly i just play as an fc nuker. But i want to bring my mesmer back to her former glory. I wan to bring my mesmer into full fledged ha- hood. now, im ony r1, and i dont have nf. can anyone please help me what builds i can play to get into ha, and what groups that i should target.

mesmers arnt really being used in HA atm...
You got holding(well...not anymore from paragon balance)
you got monk spike thing w/e its called forgot
you got SF
you got the 1/500 builds that are creative
and out of those 1/500, about 5% will involve a mesmer.
Go to GvG to get a mesmer use.
or get rank 3, then make your own builds with guild/alliance group and involve a mesmer.

If you are a good mesmer, then you should have a good understanding of skills and builds. You shouldn't "in theory" need to ask, but whatever...
Just Steal something off observer if it makes you happy, a build will be needed to make a team build work, not just some random skills.
For example, a Crippling Anguish runner, won't be needed in a Shut down build. If you are using a mesmer in HA, then the person leading the team should have a build ready and sorted for your Mesmer to play.
Thanks,
Program~

Good old E-Surge is still very useful. Diversion is also your friend.
I've been playing anything to counter the current FotM's. Yesterday there was a skill update so the 2 Paragon build may not be "abused" any longer. Mesmers are still totally usable.

I'm guessing not since they played FC nuker? o_O Mesmers aren't very big right now, just the way the meta goes and the builds everyones playing.
If you like messing with people hexwise do necro, spoil victor is fuuurrnnn.

LOL I remember watching that in obs mode. Hella funny.
This thread should be closed mainly because the shear lack of...hmm, way's to put this nicely.
There is no real fotm atm that revolves around using mesmers. However, mesmers still get use. TA, GvG, you can still do RA if you REALLY want to play your mesmer that bad.
I got a mesmer you've probably never heard of before. I call it a dom mes. PM me for secret build.

More builds should have Power Block, imo. In the past PD was just too good to not take, now I think PB could see some good use.
It's pretty fulfilling as a mesmer to Power Block a heal monk and watch him just sit there looking dumb.
Diversion and Shame spam are always good too.

Mesmers see more use in gvg as opposed to ha simply due to the meta, but having said that I haven't really seen a fotm build based on a mesmer. 'cept maybe for the old dual surge days, but that was really a balanced that included 2 surgers.

In the old days i so loved running my powerblock / ww mesmer in heroes ascent but that is no longer strong these days with holy haste, healers boon, blessed light, glimmer of light...

I don't think Power Block is that strong. It has a 30 sec recharge (!) and it's not like everyone has only one attribute on their bar. Monks often have 3 or even 4 (yes, I know wiki says in PvP characters are often focussed around one attribute). Let's take a standard Blessed Light Mo/A or Mo/Me
Blessed Light, Gift of Health, Sig of Devotion RoF, Prot spirit/SB, mend condition/dismiss condition, Return/channeling, dark escape/something else from insp.
Now imagine you disable all spells from one attribute for 15 seconds. The monk will still be perfectly able to function. Spells exclude Signet of Devotion, Dark escape and if you like to have that Leech Signet.
I could come up with more examples. It's like that with all caster classes actually. I don't need to point out why it's no good vs. non-caster classes I hope.
So what you've got here is an interrupt with a semi-annoying side effect, (not nearly as annoying as losing 25 energy, or 100 HP) that is taking up your elite slot. Better take something else instead, imo

Sorry to hear that .. In my opinion mesmers are the most powerful class (as long as people know how to play them)

Yea Thomas is right, PB is pretty useless. Normally you wouldn't even be interrupting a monk, probably something more like a flagstand ele who could reasonably have energy storage, water, air, earth, and healing all on the same bar. Really the only thing I could see useful to interrupt would be a SF ele or maybe an occasional necro hexer, but it hardly seems worth it. Regardless of elite status, Power Leak is a better offensive mesmer interrupt.
Edit: Recall Tease mesmer/assassin! I am so running that during ladder lock.

Agree. Its really sad that the metagame is so twisted atm that ppl simply look over the abilities of a mesmer... IMO almost every FoTM build can be countered with just 1 mesmer. Imagine playing against a SOMW with 1 or 2 mesmers in your group...free fame ftw!
