TA/RA - 30 minutes for glad point, and that is if you made 10 consecutives...if not, time wasted...
Now lets see, to get 1000 fame (or r6) you need to play 50 times 30 minutes what takes about 25 hours of play. Even if you lose somewhere in the way, you will still gain fame.
In order to get glad 1 you need 25 times 30 minutes which is about 12.5 hours. Of course, considering you never lose a consecutive...and thats quite impossible.
But still, considering time of pure victories needed to gain R2 glad or R6 hero, i think these two are pretty much equal, although, gaining expirience in one of those arenas doesnt mean you will perfectly play in other arena, but surely you will learn faster.

Of course, those TA/RA numbers are kind of low. The thing is that getting 30 min for a glad point is only possible running a steamroll build (shoveway anyone?) during slow hours. To get 10 games in 30 min requires around 1:30 per game, considering that it usually takes at least 1:30 to find a new opposing party and to actually start. You also ahve to take into account kill maps and priest maps, which take longer. Then, if you're playing in peak hours (ehich most known/good players do) you'll usually find at least one good team per run that will be a hard battle. I've had easily GvG length battles in TA, especially since good players in TA generally relish a good battle and wouldn't leave for anything. Taking everything into account, 30 min per glad point is almost impossible.

The main problem is, both Gladiator and Hero titles, can be farmed. However, farming TA is so, so much easier than it is in HA, because in HA, yeah I agree...the first 4-5 odd teams you will face are normally scrubs, but when you get to halls then it does get harder, as the scrubs have been 'filtered' out.
In TA the is nothing like that, you get:
W/Mo, after W/Mo, after W/Mo, after E/R, after W/Mo
You get the idea?
|
Please, you mean to tell me you havent seen countless henchway/iway/vimway teams in Halls, and winning halls? Hell I know that when I halls if I see a henchway and a holding team, you gang up on the holding team, ofcourse the holding team is going to focus more on defeating the "real" team, which sometimes leads to both non scrub teams being decimated and the henchway team sneaking up and taking the alter near the end. I've seen it several times and in all honesty, some people try to let them win if they know they are unable (ghostly died at a bad time) becuase they know they will not be hard to beat later, because they cant hold. Scrubs win Halls all the time. Hall skipping is not uncommon either.
TA's quality has gone down lately, I used to TA pretty much all day every day (before glad points) but there is something in this world greater than TA, and much better than HA....GvG. And RA...is barely even considered PvP to me, much like alliance battles. There are harder (and smarter) mobs in PvE than the people I fight there.
The other day I won a fight in HA with 3 hench...and none of us 3 were a monk, we fought a dual smite group with no hench. It is not hard at all to farm fame. Later that day I won halls with some friends, none of us even bothered to get on vent, or ask what each others builds were.
Back to whos dominating TA, I think Qweer is one of the more old school people who still TA constantly.

Well yeah, its pretty impossible, but i would say its average (although 45 minutes would be more like it). When i play TA my opponenst are mostly finished in about 1:30 - 2:00 minutes, and you get about 2 30 seconds countdown until finding a team and before facing a next team. But ofcourse, sometimes you will find some tough teams that will take more than 2 minutes to beat.

I agree some teams may not run the greatest builds, but still, getting and winning halls in peak Euro times, the are some good teams, and the is good competition. I don't know about American peak times however. (If you are from America.)

True. I believe RA's always been like that. And yeah I agree GvG is better, being a GvG player myself. Playing at top 20 level is nice, you know you get some competition.

Two options.
1) You're making it up.
or
2) You played against some very, very bad teams.
You can't generalise HA like that. I agree when it is 11am in the morning, you can hold for an hour and get 40 fame wins. But, when you play say, at 9pm, yeah it does get a lil harder.
Maybe you can make a theorum? HA's competiton changes from what time you play it at?

TA does get boring, the are only a few maps, after a while I will get bored and go and do something else. To people who can play TA consistantly and not get bored, have a cookie!

you can't generalize TA like that either. Although, i will admit the frequency of running into good teams in TA, even during peak hours, has gone down recently.

An r2 player saying he gets 20 fame per half hour is kinda rediculous imo. Lots of high ranked teams strugle to get that much fame in such a short period of time.
If an average unranked team can grind 20 fame in 2 hour it would allready be something rather uncommon.
Also saying that you are r6 in 25 hours is just utter bullsh*t.
Following your theory, you being r2 and all, that would mean that you played ha for lets say 4 hours maximum (160 fame right?). Doesnt that make you like a little bit inexperienced to make such comments about ha?

For both those numbers he's assuming pretty experienced decent teams. I mean, 30 min a glad point was pretty hard to do when we ran our shovesin build (a steamrollling build) in [TA] (not to brag but one of the better TA guilds) at 9 in the morning on a weekday.

Thing is, those numbers are even rediculous when talking about experienced people. Its almost impossible to get 20 fame in half an hour.
Im not gonna go further into discussion as it has no point at all. You cant compare ta to ha, two completely different things. I just had to react on the statement that guy made as it was complete bollocks.

It is? Seriously?
Because, in my experience with just friends list groups in HA, it's really not much of a stretch...

I TA all day, I'm a glad(4) with over 200 points (that's over 2000 consecutive wins) and I'm in a TA guild which is part of the TA alliance.
I'll tell you all the stats for TA which is most up to date.
The most respected TA guilds now are(American):
We came from [RA] (formely [TA])
If you die I can't use [res]
and [rezq].
MAYBE [ROFL]
there is only 3 known glad(6)s in all of America
Unko Morimori (from japan) is the person with the most glad points in all of Guild Wars. He is the closest person to glad(7).
But yeah.. TA doesn't get as much respect as it deserves.. No emotes.. no gold or items. Took me 3 months to get glad(3). Took me a WEEKEND to get rank(3) in HoH.
If only you guys knew how hard it was to get glad titles =P

No doubt. When he first got r6 and said he would be done, and just do it occasionally I knew he wouldn't stay away from it. He even left TA and joined RezQ so he could gvg more...I wonder how many gvg's he's logged in since the move heh.
Glad points are addicting though.

Not too sure if people saying all you face is W/Mos and E/R or newbs in general actually played TA regularly at all. Nearly whenever we play TA, we have to beat a team from RezQ or res or RA, sometimes 2-3 times, to gain our glad points and they are in no way newb teams. We win most of the time mostly because our build is truly uncommon, but it's not free wins, some games last for 5-10 min and can be pretty intense.
I'll agree that easily 2/3 to 3/4 games are against teams that you will flawless in 1-1:30, but other games can put up quite a challenge. I honestly don't find it harder to get and sometimes win HoH (holding it repeatedly is another thing) gaining 15-20 fame along the way than gain a glad point in TA. Maybe it's because of the time i play TA when i do!
