Stop twisting Gaile's words. She NEVER said they woudnt do anything about it. She said to stop sending them via Support Tickets because it isnt a support issue.

My apolgies for the delay.
If you go to support.guildwars.com (as stated above), pick your language, and then click "Ask a Question".
It's not very intuitive, but that's the support system they have set up for everything. If you have a bug report, you use that. If you have an abuse report about a griefer, you use that. If you want to ask about your account, you use that. Even though it says "Ask a Question", it really means say whatever you need to say.
In particular, you probably want to make sure to change the "Department" to "Violation Report".
I've used this many times to report abusive players (for various reasons). I always get the standard reply that they can't tell me the outcome for privacy reasons, but never anything saying that I shouldn't bother reporting these violations.
Maybe that's not where they want these things sent, but until someone actually points me to someplace more appropriate, this seems best.
EDIT: I'm still interested if anyone has a link to the actual post people are talking about (where Gaile talks about how to report this behavior, or how not to, or whatever). I could try searching all of gwonline myself, but I don't actually spend that much time on forums that I want to waste it searching for "Gaile". Thanks.

I'm making a kind of collage of all the leeches I've ever encountered playing fort aspenwood, and sending it in one big package to them. I'm going to try to take screen shots of them when the weapon is like 50% complete so it looks more obvious. Especially for those ones that run one amber delivery and go hide in a corner somewhere. It will be a fun little side project, even if I don't get results.

That sounds like a cool idea, Matsumi. If there is any way I can help, lemme know.
Still, proof would be nice of that gwonline post...even though I'm pretty much convinced she would say something like that.

It's no problem Jo, I did actually find this, but it really doesn't look like it was affiliated with guild wars directly, so I didn't bother. Thanks for clearing things up and I guess I got some complaints to be filled out.

Something should be done
Fricken A, i'm totally agreeing on your points about leeches.
And i'm glad you started this thread.
First i tried not to be annoyed about the rather steady rate of 1-3 leeches a game (apart from the growing number of early leavers), but when u do Aspenwood alot, playing for fun and honest faction, its getting more and more on my nerves. And i'm very sure that i am not the only one.
A few days ago this reached a new high level of annoyance when two leeches (names noted) were calling all the players in their team dirty names, even their moms and dads (i spare you the details) making them ridiculous, swearing and cheering for our enemies: this was so much annoying that most players left because they couldn't stand it anymore!
And Anet is not wanting to do anything??? In every online game i know of this behaviour is reason enough to get those players banned, but not for Anet??
I made a black list of those leeches who i see leeching every day and often games on a row. It's very very strange that Anet takes no action at all.
Maybe they can make me understand why they withdraw accounts from players who use robots to automatically farm xp (which doesnt interrupt other players) but take no measure at all against those very annoying leeches??
Totally not understandable for me!
My black list has right now 20 full time leeches on it and believe me these are only players who leech constantly (so do not have a bad connection or afk without noticing the game started: which sometimes even happens to me).
This list is also far from complete.
What can we do as group of honest players who want to have fun???
I'm convinced that we should keep posting our grieves and not giving in an inch on this most annoying fact in GW!
I allready made a special email account to report leeches: [email protected] and a webpage where u can get more information about my view and policy: http://www.geocities.com/aerosalvo
But we need to work together since Anet doesn't take us or individual actions serious. I'm willing to increase and keep pressure on this topic.
Please give me your suggestions about what we can do and make a difference. Should anyone of Anet read this: it would feel good if they explain more of their point of view.
greetings to all honest players and faction earners ,
Kick Leeches

I suggest that we exchange information and combine efforts.

Who cares about leechers, its their own fault for being noobs, if people think jade and amber is a good way to earn gold , then they deserve to use that slow painful noob way.

The big question here seems to be what to do about leeching, and to me the answer seems obvious. Report them. Even if the GW officials dont currently see it as a problem. If tons of people are sending them reports of leeching every single day, they will realise that it is, even if the only 'problem' is the fact that they're being flooded with complaints about it. But either way, they'll have to deal with the issue.
Where do you report?:
(To get to this obnoxiously long link yourself, go to support.plaync.com and click the 'ask a question' tab. Click the flag representing your language if necessary.)
http://support.plaync.com/cgi-bin/plaync.cfg/php/enduser/ask.php?p_sid=6*aLrDji&p_accessibility=0&p_sp=cF9z cmNoPSZwX3NvcnRfYnk9JnBfZ3JpZHNvcnQ9JnBfcm93X2NudD 0xNDEzJnBfcHJvZHM9JnBfY2F0cz0mcF9wdj0mcF9jdj0mcF9z ZWFyY2hfdHlwZT1hbnN3ZXJzLnNlYXJjaF9ubCZwX3BhZ2U9MQ **
How do you report?:
Fill out the form at the link above (you may have to register the first time, it only takes a couple minutes). Make sure your 'product' says 'Guild Wars', your 'category' says 'rules and policies', and your 'department' says 'violation report'.
What do you report?:
Quote:
* The name of the character being reported
* The name of the character you were playing at the time of the encounter
* The time of the incident (with time zone)
* The name of the map zone where the incident took place (or even the location within the zone)
* A description of the offending action, dialogue, or name
* A screenshot of the incident (please ensure any screenshots are in JPEG/.jpg or GIF/.gif format and under 2 megabytes in size before you attach them to your message)
* Any other details that you feel are relevant
|
Personally, I include 3-5 screenshots for each report, which show one leecher at either different times during one game, or in multiple games.
Also include whether you are reporting a leecher or a bot. (I reported one guy using a leech bot that continually pings the map. Extremely annoying.)
What will reporting do?:
As far as immediate gratification, nothing. Anet will not tell you whether or not they took any action against the offending character. But if they are constantly receiving complaints about general leeching (or multiple complaints about the same character), they will have to do something about it, even if it isnt immediate. Sometimes a persistent problem requires persistence to fix it. Keep reporting. (But please wait at least a few days before sending a second report about the same character).

I think this is a very good suggestion! Thank you, I will use this possibility and hope a lot of players will.

I had to register, but that's a small effort. I actually immediately had two responses (1 automated confirmation and 1 the following day), but the text makes clear that a complaint is taken serious. Also it is stated that when there are more complaints about a specific player, chances are greater that they will investigate the complaints.
Although no details are given to the complainers about the actions taken and the outcomes, it made me feel good to be taken serious.
So please drop all your complaints there (i suggest the full-time leeches: because chances are great they are reported more often and they use bots, wich is definitely a reason to close their accounts).
Its the right place to do!!!
Greetings to all honest GW players
who want GW to be fun!

A noble cause, but you are misled if you think Anet are actually taking this seriously. Six months, and leechers are still rampant. Bots get banned eventually, but people that join aspenwood then go afk, are playing by the rules and do not get punished.

Why couldn't Anet ban them from entering FA for a week for the first offence, 4 weeks for the second, and ban after 3rd?

Hmmm...
I could deal with leechers if I had the right tools. Is there anyway to track IP adresses of Guild Wars users? If i have an IP adress of a leecher or griefer all it would take is a bit of hacking and problem solved. No more leecher. At least until they fix there computer. He he...

Leechers aren't a problem? Last I checked, they were causing grief...shouldn't that be a problem?
ANet needs to stop working on little flashing colors and focus on the actual problems in the game.

This is pasted off of the guild ladder:
419th Pick Up Group PuG America 1038 6 4
Thats the developers guild. They play their game, but Fort Aspenwood is possibly the worst part of every chapter of Guild Wars, so stop complaining about a miniscule thing when there are much, much bigger things to worry about.
And dont claim they don't play the game until you know they dont play the game.
