Leeches in Aspenwood
In Aspenwood... your bound to have a few leeches. It really didn't bother me before. But I am starting to see the same leeches over and over again and they are starting to be recognized. name edited for privacy is notorious for this and when many people see him, they just leave themselves. I'm really becoming irritable with the increasing population of leechers and there being no way to control them. I think there should be some sort of inactivity system that Anet can provide where you can /kick (#) from the game that needs a certain number of votes. This probably wouldn't fix the problem completely, but at least they will not be rewarded for sitting on the couch and watching TV while the rest of us fight.

Please please please report these people using support.guildwars.com.
If someone is reported for griefing (especially repeatedly) they will be banned.
Yes, maybe there could be other ways to report things or fix specific issues like this, but there is an official method right now to deal with griefers (I'm pretty sure they fall into that category). I'm sure ANet doesn't want them ruining the fun for everyone else.

Could you please give a more direct link to the griefing report section. I have looked through the site for a while and I have failed to find it. It would be most appreciated.

The problem with Leachers is now they are getting smart. I have seen a few who will act like they are present, but then go idle as soon as bullets start to fly. I saw one who ran one piece of amber and then hid in the corner by Gunther for the rest of the match.

I've seen something like that too Soldier, which is why there needs to be some intervention on Anet's part. Hopefully they will take notice to this "insidious parasite."

Well I can tell the leecher problem is bad because of one match.
One time I had to raise kurz faction to get into their land (I'm luxon btw). I did fort aspenwood. One time the luxons had a grand total of about 6 leechers . We won easy and the 2ish luxons that were there were pretty much ticked and they left.

Like I said in my previous statement, many people see a leech and automatically leave, they'd rather try their luck again with a new group then to fight for a loss and provide the leech with faction.

How about losing faction "for showing cowardice", by not fighting. THEN THEY'D STOP.

That's all cool... but you know what? Anet couldnt care less. I have complained for months about leechers. "Sycho Stalker Sean" (let's call him like this.. nick changed for privacy reasons) has been leeching for ... 3 months already. You just cant miss him if u go there. Plenty of others as well.
Now, putting that aside, you say "report them". To whom?
Lemme tell you something that Gaile said on gwonline.net: "We dont see leechers as a problem, so stop reporting them because we will not do anything about it" For those who dont believe me, you can actually go and see it for yourself. I did not twist her words or anything, she said anet at this point does not see leechers as a prob.
So, good luck on "reporting them". I for one know that they dont ban leechers. Dont believe me, go ahead.

I believe you Kali, which is why I questioned Jack's griefer report. The thing is, it is a problem and should be recognized as one. I'm fairly new to aspenwood and alliance battles for having taken 6 months off and to find out that this has been going on for that long is frustrating, not to mention the lack of concern on Anet's part. I guess the problem will only stop when it gets worse, I can only hope that it will change before then.

One of the most boring game I had in FA was caused by leechers. The Luxon team had 4 leechers, 2 left the game because of the leechers and 2 remained. I was on the Kurzick team btw. If the two remaining left the game, I think we would have gotten 250 points, so they told us to run amber to Gunther as fast as we can, so we get the full 650 points for weapon completion, and they won't interfer. Running amber with no opponents to get in the way was sooooo boring. On a good note, we got to chat with the Luxon players as we delivered amber.
It's because of leechers that I don't enjoy FA anymore and don't play the map as often as I used too. Shame really, as I found it really fun and entertaining.

I was in one of the game as well, anyway, if they all left the game, we still get the full 650 points, the problem is, there are still leecher in the game, so we still need to gat amber to win.

The leeching in FA is already a problem, it does not need to escalate any further. It really gets annoying when you are sitting there with 3 leechers and the rest of the team is so unbalanced that you really can't do anything.
Though how would ANet check for a leecher? Some of them just stand on the spawn zone, so adding code to check for that and dropping them would help, but then you get some of them that runs around a little bit. To be honest, if you are in FA, make the effort and FIGHT. Don't just waste our time so that you can get your 250faction for leeching.

Leechers have been my biggest gripe with the game for months now.
It angers me that A.Net has not even posted public policy against them.

Well I think that a lot of us would like to see some sort of action and I really think that a /vote system would be practical. My only concern is how many people would be needed, because many of you have mentioned the ammount of people being gone is more than just one or two. I would think that it would be possible for Anet could make something to automatically kick them if they do not move or do something for a period of time.
And to be honest, I would hope none of you find this thread as a rant, without importance or dignity of thought. This is a discussion on a sincere issue.

This has been discussed over and over.
The bottomline is, IMO: You dont need any special anti-leecher methods. If ANY Anet employee or whoever played FA for 3days, he would see that same people constantly leech. The amount of people who leech only sometimes is not a problem. It's those who do it for months. Now, you ask "how to see who is leeching and who isnt"? Oh come on, let's be honest. If someone is entering FA whole day, never to make ANY move... is it so difficult to ban him? Most leechers just stand there n dont move at all. Removing them would make the game MUCH easier as it is.
The most important thing is Anet attitude. Guess what, if they put on website "Leechers are a problem, we see them as griefers and according to game EULA we can and will ban them." <= after this, just that, a "note" without ANYONE being banned, i bet that leeching would decrease at least 50%.
Let's be honest again - if you see peopel leeching 24/7 after which Anet says "that's ok, we dont mind, go ahead".. how many more people will start leeching? Now, let's see the opposite. How many people would stop leeching and risking their account, if Anet said that leeching is a reason to get banned? Fear factor does wonders.

Kali (or anyone) could you provide a link to Gaile's post where they say they don't care about leechers? I'm quite curious.
At any rate, when I report them, they just say that they will look at it and can't tell me what the result will be. But I've not seen them there again. Then again, I don't have time to play as much as some other people.
And frankly, I will keep reporting people because if enough people complain, ANet *will* change it's mind. If people stop caring, it only encourages more griefers. (And frankly, anyone who is a leecher would be the kind of person who would tell other people to not report them.)
So far I still haven't seen anything official saying that they shouldn't report leechers, and even if I did I would continue to annoy ANet with my reports.
You can't enact change by doing nothing.

This gets me wondering if Gaile, or the other ANet employees actually play their own game?
Leechers aren't a problem? Last I checked, they were causing grief...shouldn't that be a problem?
ANet needs to stop working on little flashing colors and focus on the actual problems in the game.

Well Jo, I've asked you already to give a link or at least a clue as to where you would report this... Well...?
