All opinions in my post are related to the Feb 1. update. IMO Anet made a big mistake by making the current change to Heros Ascent. The community has asked for various features to be added to HA, and some things to be taken away. Here is a list of things I liked and Disliked.
1. Scarred Earth taken away - love it!
2. Burial Mounds added - love it! (alot of people i play with wish it could be a map for 3 or more team kill count....would be interesting)
3. Broken Tower changed to kill count - dislike it! Would like the map restored to it's state before the update. (In my experience of playing on this map during the previous test weekend and this weekend resulted in one team getting double-teamed has always lost)
4.Courtyard - Same as previous comment
5.Hall of Heros - Extremely Dislike!
I found the random modes in The Hall of Heros to be a nuisance. I'm guessing Anet wanted to put holding to an end, and I disagree with that. Yes, there was some overpowered builds during certain hours of the day. This could have easily been fixed with a few minor skill balances. Anet has totally changed the objectives of HA now. Which is similar to trying to fix something that is simply NOT broken. I think the change has turned the play of HA into nothing, but a mini-game with the amout of modes Anet added into the update. Previous to the update the state of heros ascent was perfect, though many lower - unraked (just an asumption) players complained about players holding The Hall of Heros. I think Anet responed to many of these posts other than listening to the other posts made by other players regarding a player number change, I know this has nothing to do with the topic but its just one thing players are sending out and i am very pleased with the upcoming Feb.9 Test weekend of 8v8. I do have one question for Galie wondering about the update (Will the test weekend of Feb.9 be reverted to the altar holding state of Heros Ascent or will it stay as the state of the game after the Feb 2. Update?) Back to the original topic now. I also found trying to Hold an altar much more fun then trying to prepare myself to killing in a time limit, holding in a time limit, capturing areas in a time limit, and running a relic in a time limit. I found no fun in this because I myself along with my teamates would have to decide on how to stratagize between these games. (again to the point of trying to stop holding) Let me go back to the holding topic. Though you may not find it a challenge but with the new metagame of exploiting Soul Reaping and an excessive spam of the shout "Fear Me" holding was now a much more difficult challenge and i found having the challenge of Holding against 2 teams to be more fun than doing the new modes of halls. The state of HA atm is making the game more difficult for players with less experience, as having more than one task now players must design a team to try to counter every aspect of HA to fully succeed. Atm i find this impossible meaning that your game is impossible to succeed in even at the fullest of experience. I would appriciate it if you could respond to my post.
