It's possible without vent.
It's easier with vent.
Why does always someone has to brag about beating someone like they achieved impossible?
Ventrilo can harm your computer as much as Guild Wars.
Yes, ventrilo uses bigger amount of bandwith if you want quality which is the main difference people use ventrilo over TS.
If you want to chat with people without the huge traffic you should use TS, but the quality of sound will shock you.
Any group is viable without vent if people know what to do or if you tell them their job at the start. Infinite interrupting is disabled now so it shouldn't be a huge problem.

Yea IMO any player who says "r9 lfg got ts/vent" or for that matter any player I always reject them

So my answer is no, its impossible to play well without vent, and I would never admit someone without it to my group.

Well actually Pheryel and Loki use vent when they Zerg, though with that particular build I don't believe PuGs are
In my personal opinion voice communication is essential and makes it a lot easier to coordinate tactics

100%
think koreans, or iway
i also run with lots of high ranked groups without vent and we still roll everything

1. depends when you're holding, early morning maybe not, peak hours probably
2. dont trust r9- teams with ts, when i wake up early on weekends i usually end up pugging with random europeans who use ts, usually french or german, but we still rock the house, or halls i should say.

try playing with people who know what they're doing? people should always know their role...
also, speak for yourself. many many groups are successful without vent/ts (again, just think about the koreans)

I was talking about serious pvp , but meh, whatever, play without voice comm if that makes you happy. You can always type the tactics in team chat during the fights. Whatever is good for you. My teams ( both guild and flist ) are always using vent, because it simply helps.

Voice comm is so useful I cant imagine playing without it. The amount of times we have changed strategy because of something is huge.
Telling interrupters to change targets for whatever reason is so much easier on vent. Saying what skill needs a dis shot etc
Calling the other teams infuser
(GvG side off topic but important) Saying who is where doing what on the other side of the map is so imporatant its unbelieveable.
I have used ts/vent since rank 0 and believe its a must. Anyone not hearing the fact we are pulling out of a situation or body blocking this character etc is a liability. Not to mention builds with dual mesmers or cgas needs to communicate with each other never mind anyone involved in a spike!

chick monk: i need an infuse. infuse me with all that you got
chick monk: i'm being hammered like hell ayayayay.
chick monk: im being spiked (kiting) im being spiked. ahhhhhhh.
chick monk: did you like my infuse on you?
seductively..

Those N/Mo's carry infuse too. And they're prime spike targets. And I'm sure they would've had mending touch if iway was still alive after nightfall.
I LOL'd

I love voice chat, I don't have a mic (yet) but it helps such a great deal already if I can hear what the team is up to. Mic isn't really required if theres a clever caller, but it sure helps. Not that I HA too often, but many people in TA use it too. In every form of PvP where voice chat is commonly used I feel that i'm at a disadvantage when my team doesn't use it. I would never enter HA without vent, the few times I tried that I always came up against some super-coordinated team that rolled us with ease. I'm not too experienced at HA anyway so I would be deaf dumb and blind without voice chat, I still need seasoned players at the moment to call strategies because I can't always trust my own judgement.

he would've done so much better with shoes though :P
vent is essential, i had my vent crash while playing split and well, i got killed twice because i wasn't informed of collapses onto our split team and i only noticed it once they came radar range = too late to safely get out

I think you would actually look more intelligent if you didnt post.
For vent, imo, communication is key to victory. And vent is in my eyes the best option for that. Sure, you can play without it, and hell, if you are playing with leteci, you dont even wanna be on vent, but its always better if the strats are giving fast and easy noticable.

i dont know about you, but a group of rank 11's who are too lazy to get on vent but still end up holding halls seems serious to me. i'm not saying vent is very useful, just that its not necessary, because people who have played the maps over and over and over and over have most likely come across every type of situation that is possible to happen, and know what to do in any circumstance.

This does not mean that it won't help you, and odds are the party would have done much better had they been on vent.
Saying that the OP doesn't need vent for HA because a group of fame farmers won halls with zergway this morning is not really a valid argument.
Also note that the OP is nowhere near rank 11.
Name me one decent guild playing a normal build that consistantly got into the top 50 without vent (I will laugh if you say MATH).

OK did you actually see them with your own eyes they're not using vent?
Let's assume you did, have you ever thought Koreans get together in the same room and play?
Let's say I'm wrong again, if they really don't use vent or any other communication except chat, maybe that's the reason they suck so much? Say hi to Brehon and MiNi from Leteci.
