Despite the vile faith[nova] not showing for the time the guild leaders picked we played them anyway and won 2:0. Also sent another e-mail telling them not to take them off the tourney

You guys are soo nice. Not really. We contacted a-net several times they never considered taking us out of the tourney or believe that we didn't show up and forfeited. I'm actually our tournament leader but was gone all weekend, sorry there was confusion but it was clear to us that we never agreed to play when you stated. Congratz on winning but don't be so arrogant in match and on the forums.

all i have to say to TSH is ..pffft

Time shouldn't really be an issue, seeing as how they were both korean guilds. WM is rusty and the other guild had hundreds of games under their belt this season. I'm not too surprised.

On another note, it's kinda sad to hear that a lot of guilds didn't even get to play and won or lost by default because they or their opponent couldn't show up...

Esoteric Warriors [EW] - Time Is Running [OUT]
Save The Dolyaks [NUKE] - Clan Detained [dT]
Idiot Savants [iQ] - Wrong Target[CrAP]
and ofcourse
Steel Phoenix [StP] - Les Anges De La Nuit [tag unknown]

Too bad you can't see them on observe.

Default so what do we think about this celestial tournament?

tbh i'm disappointed. my guild has been matched with an american guild and given a fallback time of 3am GMT. as we are a european guild this is entirly inapropriate. many members of our team cannot make this. and our opposing guild are apparently convieniently "at work on SATURDAY" so they will not give us an earlier time.(yes they claim every member of their core gvg team works on a saturday). thanks for the sportsmanship...NOT.
i must ask, are all of the upcoming tournaments going to be arranged like this? if so i will NOT be participating in them because having to forefit like this is BS!

but please post your oppinions

I know that the fallback times are not conveiniant for the euros, but it really is the only feasible time outside of common work hours for both regions. I also wonder if the setup was chosen in favor of making the swiss rounds region specific and having the euros complain about having a more competitive region and thus giving americans, again, an unfair trip to the top 32...

If they claim every single member of their core team is at work on saturday, they have to be lying, but as I understood it, these fallback times are the only ones that don't fall in working times in both USA and Europe.

No, below from Anet email:

Match time must fall outside of 9am – 7pm in the majority of the time zones for America , Europe, and Asia .

This time was determined long before all of the guilds registered for the event and before the random 1st round pairing was done.

Each region ends up with at least one time zone pairing that is not to their advantage.

Here is the chart we put together so you can understand:

Time Zones......Am.................Eu.................. .Asia
Am.................03:00 GMT.......03:00 GMT.......10:00 GMT
Eu..................03:00 GMT.......19:00 GMT.......19:00 GMT
Asia...............10:00 GMT........19:00 GMT.......10:00 GMT

You can see that Am ends up with easier fallback schedules with Eu and tougher schedules with Asia .

Eu ends up with easier fallback schedules with Asia and tougher schedules with Am.

Asia ends up with easier fallback schedules with Am and tougher schedules with Eu.

uhh.. not trying to be arrogant; however, its a fact that we have proof of you setting a time and missing it. Simply stating tournament rules. How would you like it if some other guild picked a time didn't show and then expected you to show at a completely different time given no notice?

Tell me how a screenshot showing some guy in your guild agreeing upon a time isn't clear?

ok..nice with the theoretical staff...but now lets go back to reality.how many guilds are froms america, how many from europe and how many from asia?as i have said already the majority of the ladder and this tournament are europian teams.so they made a programm based upon the minority without taken in account the majority..nice..

The logic is you can stay up late/get up early much more easily than you can miss work, so the fall back times involve forcing euros to adjust sleep paterns to prevent a situation where large numbers of US guilds pull out because they can't change their jobs. Even if you don't want to changing your sleep times for a day is much more possible than missing work for game, it seems reasonable though it does screw over euros to an extent.

I think it would be better to have grouped time zones together, even though this would create other issues.

Isnt it obvious that setting up these matches isnt really easy for anyone? Have you ever heard of people working different shifts, such as 2nd or 3rd? Day classes and night classes and all kinds of IRL in between.

There would never be a perfect time for 20 different people, even if they all lived in the same effing house.

I would say that the rosters need to be expanded even further in this type of setting. Im quite sure with valuable prizes on the line that this will not happen...but 12 player rosters would hopefully help all the teams out. Although getting 12 really good GvG players on a roster would be damn hard and you probably would only want 8-10 playing anyhow.
