Nice suggestions Djinn, although I think dodgeball shouldn't be slotted into HA personally. But that's just personally, everything else sounds great.

Or, instead of implementing a lot of changes randomly and risking P.O.ing more of the population, they could just revert it back to 8v8 like it was before and reinstate burial mounds... having a chance at 8v8 with the new nightfall skills alone would probably be incentive/entertainment enough for quite a few players.

I wonder if there's any point to continue listing reasons why 8v8 is better than 6v6 (and not the personal taste reasons, the real technical reasons.) It seems like people don't bother reading them.

first impressions on Djinns post:
this is exactly the type of stuff we need to see being posted... its clear this poster has ideas on what he/she would like to see...
i havent read it in detail yet... but i promise i will. But what i really hope is that the regular negative nancies dont crawl all over your ideas and rip them apart.
id like everyone to take a long look at this post... its an excellent example of how to present your opinions without provoking flamewars.
i have just one comment to make...
im not so sure Anet will want to integrate Snowball fights or any other festive mode of pvp into regular pvp... just purely because i think its best if they keep them unique to these events... otherwise they will just lose their novelty value... and Anet will have to think of something else newer and potentially better to replace them for these events.

I just want to point out Djinn Effer's post on the last page.
If you havent read it go read it
Its one of the few posts with proper ideas to make positive changes to HA. I cant say I agree with all of them but stuff like map rotation is a great idea.
This could be a great way of holding interest without adding huge amounts of maps. The old ones could be kept and new ones added without having to worry about a never ending trek to the HOH.
Nice to see people thinking and putting ideas out there.

Here are my sugestions about ha changing:
-Go back to 8v8, its simply awfull to play 6v6, lots of holdng builds and people are just starting to leave HA, and in some cases, leaving Guild Wars.
-Remove maps like Scarred Earth, that takes much time to players, that often quit or resign because of boredom.
-Add new maps, fast to play, maps that throw down holdings.

If there is a poll then there has to be some restriction to the voting or some kind of system where people more dedicated to HA get more votes. If random PvE'ers were allowed to vote then there is absolutely no reason why they would not vote for 6 v 6. They just want faster teams they know nothing/dont care about the quality of PvP gameplay. I think r4+ is a good cut-off because most people who are r4+ are likely to have played HA at least a tiny bit during 8 v 8 so they know what it was like. r4 is better than r3because I know a lot of PvE'ers just Vimway'ed their r3 bambi during Double-Fame weekend or just farmed it with SF during no-limit heroway so they can have an emote to go with their stupid FoW armor or w/e the hell. So surely most of them stopped once they got to rank 3, no point in continuing since rank 4 and 5 have the exact same emote. Dont see why people would be allowed to vote for something they have never done and know very little about. There also should be some kind of way to access all the voters where it shows all the names and which one they voted for so everyone can check to see if their name is in the right place and Anet didnt "tweak" the votes.

I agree with Gimme Money, 8v8 with the return of burial mounds, and a skill balance, then we see where HA goes from there. Anet shouldn't risk doing omething drastic and putting a nail in the coffin of HA.

I think it needs something fairly drastic, or it will just be as bad as it was before. At least with 8v8 and a skill balance you have a good base to work off, though.

well those who you will bar from the voting (rank 3-) will sooner or later will also play HA. and they bought the friggin game. why will you deny them of the privilege to make a difference.
and i don't like the idea that people having high ranks cast higher votes than the lower ranked ones. if indeed the ones who filled all the districts (15+) of HA before it was 6vs6 were high ranked players / skilled/ pro/ hardcore, their numbers should be strong. so no need for them to be able to cast more votes.
the effin poll
-------------
what's the point of telling someone 6vs6 is better if he thinks 8vs8 is better? let's just poll it.
i dont care about what will become of the quality of HA if the majority wants 6vs6 or 8vs8. there are people who want 6vs6 and there are those who want 8vs8. unless A.Net makes a 6vs6 HA and a 8vs8 HA, a decision must be made. and we want all players of GW to be represented so there will be no persons left out. i dont care if he is rank 0 or rank 14. cast a vote, tally the results, be mature and accept the results. take it like a man. if you don't like it, it just means that everybody but you like the format. what you have to do is just adapt and play along or quit and play wow.
easy dude. no waste of forum space.

I disagree on the polls, it will just be dominated by pve-ers who never even set foot in HA. As for making it r4+; 6v6 has been among us for how long now? 3 months? i doubt many people below r6 actually witnessed 8v8. I know people who herowayed all the way to r9, so making a rank required poll is not a valid option in my eyes.

You don't need to grind monsters to hit 70, you just need to do loads of quests (like GW), although it'll take A LOT longer than GW, it beats grinding that pig for 1248124621345 times right?
Anyway... GW is supposed to be a TEAM GAME, which means, the more the players, the better. Heck 12v12 looks great right now.
You got 10 Classes in the game and millions of builds. I always liked balanced teams because it brings out the uniqueness of every class and it is more fun this way.
I want the Ranger on my team, crippling, interrupting, poisoning, and using the pet around.
I want the Mesmer on my team, E-denialing, interrupting, degening, and disabling.
I want the Warrior on my team, spiking, charging, and bashing.
I want the Necromancer on my team, summoning (at times), hexing, and blood spiking.
I want the Monk on my team, healing, protecting, and smiting.
I want the Elementalist on my team, burning, freezing, shocking, and shattering.
I want the Assassin on my team, shadow stepping, stabbing, and spiking.
I want the Ritualist on my team, summoning spirits, healing, and damaging.
I want the Paragon on my team, throwing, shouting, chanting, and protecting.
I want the Dervish on my team, sweeping, shifting, enchanting, and spiking.
Most people can tell you Assassins and Mesmers aren't well used in HA and a huge factor of that is due to the limiting party slots. What's the point of team if I can't have every class under my wings?
The Rank system is also really really pointless. It promotes grinding. Just because someone spends more time in HA doesn't mean that person is better at the game. Sure he should be better with playing all those HAs, but you'll be surprised how stagnant some people are at taking advices.
I never got why the game was restricted to 8 players (other than Elite Missions). There could be several reasons:
~Lag: There is always lag in any game as it cannot be helped. GW runs pretty smooth for the most part, so I doubt that'll be that traumatizing to run a 12 player max party (Elite Mish rarely lags).
~Balance: If GW is what it says with unlimited possibilities and builds, balance should not be a problem. No build is invincible and has no counterbuilds.
Bump up the difficulty of the game if it must be done, but I bet more people will enjoy GW and ultimately bring more profits for Anet. A lot of people play GW to play with their guildies and friends. A lot of farming teams are there for the guild (they play with max party and don't care about drops). If you let the party size grow, more people will enjoy the game a lot more.

If there is a poll, there has to be a rank requirement. r1+ would be fine, except you'd probably end up with people getting r1 just to vote in the poll, same with r2, maybe r3. r3+ or r4+ would be fine, otherwise you're going to get a bunch of random PvErs flipping a coin. It's the same reason why people that aren't American citizens aren't allowed to vote in our elections.

If you want a system for voting I will push mine, I condsider it to be a reasonable way of voting:
Quote:
Every player rank one and above has a vote. For each rank you have you get one vote to put to whatever option you want. So rank 2 players get 2 seperate votes, rank 4 get 4, etc. Rank is a representation of time spent in HA so the people who are there the most should have more votes imo.

And how will you check who is what rank? On internet forum? I also strongly believe that IF a poll was done it should be done ingame, and the right to vote should be given to r6+ people, as they really know whats going on in HA. But that thing aside, I think polls are totally unnecesary, all that counts is your own opnion and ideas posted on this forum. Because almost everyone who really cares about current HA's state is posting here. All kinds of polls tend to give false unrepresentative results. I'm sure the developers are monitoring this thread, and draw their own conclusions.
