Nope, just strong team play and communication.

That pretty much sums up my guild. If HA stays 6v6, then we may do it on occassion (certainly not to the amount we did this weekend). If it reverts to 8v8 though, then might as well GvG with 8 on or just do TA whenever 8 are not on.

The fame increases within my guild required a lot of winning and in general a lot of playing. We had designed multiple builds prior to the event starting, but ultimately only ended up playing one of them for any serious amount of time. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10039826 is the build I designed/adapted from a blend of 2 of [Eat]'s TA builds.

Ran an extremely lame build on saturday where in 5 runs didn't lose any matches 1 on 1(non-courtyard non-halls) and went (6-8consec most of the time). Apparently that nr/tranq degen build was pretty overpowered.
Sunday tried to pub that build but it didnt work out nearly as well as saturday where it was mainly guild
Ran a few balances unsuccessfully

we ran into the same issue running our pressure build, so much so to the point where I refused to pug out for the build at all anymore when a few guildies were missing and would pretty much only run with guildies. The thing about running a build like that is that it relies on all your players being quite good since your monks have hardly any energy management, your only melee defence can be easily shutdown, and if that happens your damage will falter under shutdowns not being removed.
when it was guildies, we were next to unstoppable, beating iq/fish groups, evil/wm, out, luna, etc, etc. And math said some rather nasty things to us when we continuously flawlessed them...
I don't think the build is overpowered, I just think people don't understand how to change their build when they are being meta'd against. NR and Tranq aren't like rit spirits that only effect one team, they effect everyone in the match. The NR build simply counts on the opposing team to rely too heavily on enchants and hexes. When you rely too much on said things, you are not running a true balance. We beat a lot of teams without ever getting our spirits down.
Also, it amuses me to no end watching another NR team constantly wasting 10 seconds putting down spirits that have no effect on us because we have no enchants or hexes. Man, there is a vast abundance of waste of space players out there...

Well its back to normal ( phew ). I was going to stop playing in sunday, but my guild convinced me to do otherwise, and after good monday , and 4 consecutive Hall Of Heroes victories, my fame count after the event increased for another 400, that makes 900 fame earned during the event. We ran various balanced most of the time, most sucessful was nr/tranq with 2 warrior adrenalin spike + 2 monk backline ( modded WOH and modded RC/prot )

I felt it was slightly dirty so to speak, but it was the same deal. We beat iQ, Fish, iA, QQ, Te, Out, etc.. etc.. with guild group but the build required to much skill that pugging it was hopeless (or at least it didnt do any better then pugging a balance or a dual smite or something).
People Ran RC and stuff but in the end it would get shutdown. I felt noone ran an appropriate build that could counter it. We ran againts balance, aod spike, smite, nr/tranq degen, vimway, and a few others all that had little or no chance against a decent team running the nr/tranq degen build.
Unlike you though, I felt the build was overpowered or maybe thats just me
The build we ran had tons of fairly self sufficient characters that worked amazing on relic runs (crip shotter etc etc...). The Nr/Tranq shutdown a fair number of teams damage output, and overall I just felt noone I played all weekend ever made a build that could really counter it. On saturday we played no opposing who ran the same build and we ended up winning with 2 people alive (was a neat match people dropped everywhere and it became 2 rangers vs 2 rangers but theirs were nearly dead at the time so nop didnt really have a chance).

Well I enjoyed the event tremendously and was pretty disappointed when I logged in today to find out is was not a permanent change to HA.
We easily adapted one of our TA builds to the 6v6 format and had incredible sucess with it. I saw that Eat also successfully adapted their TA build.
I started the event at Rank 6 with ~1600 fame and set a goal of reaching Rank 9. By the end of the event, after 53 hours of play with the same character and same build I was Rank 9 with 4929 fame. For a gain of ~3329 fame in 3 days, GG Anet...gg.

hehe, well I can't say I went for 53 hrs, that's hardcore. 255 fame, rank 3 going into the event, and now:
PS those 3 ID'd items on my wisdom title track are all HoH drops from the weekend

Wow - I wish I had more than just 5 hours or so free over the weekend (no long weekend for aussies) to do some of that crazy powerleveling I can only imagine what 40 hours or so would've do for my fame count.
And hell BC Meta - 53 hours woulld've gotten me r9 with an unranked pug, that's some hardcore caffine tablets, so kudos to you on a HUGE effort.
On the bright side I helped at least 3 guildies go from r0/1 to r3+

I was also very happy to help 3 guildies/friends get from Rank 7 to Rank 9 and 2 get from Rank 9 to Rank 10.
I am depressed how quickly tombs meta reverted to Blood Spike etc after the event ended.

It's humorous that it doesn't occur to you that we might in fact be good players, despite our (previously) low ranks. The fact that we continuously flawlessed group after group of high ranked and highly respected players proved to us (and anyone playing against us) that rank truly means nothing.

Yea man its really scary seeing all these r0 noobs playing for like 24/7 the entire weekend and getting wolves from vim that they dont deserve. gg anet

It would be quite difficult for any unskilled player to get a ton of fame in such a short time regardless of the build. It's funny that you should mention vimway, as any "r0 noob" as you put it can just as easily go run it now for even more success. You likely wouldn't be bitter if your team could beat the vimways. Vimway wasn't getting nearly as much fame as you seem to think, as although they ruled the first 3-4 matches, we rarely ran accross them in higher maps. The only reason we were able to get 2k+ fame is that we had several 140+ fame runs, which doesn't happen with vimway.

About 150. Wasn't here almost whole event. I don't think I'd play more anyway, 6 people in team makes it so boring.
