GW Pickup - Automated GVG/Sealed Deck pickup games
irc.gamesurge.net #GWPickup
I'd like to tell you about a new service I'm setting up called Guild Wars Pickup. This service will give all those interested (and meeting the requirements) the opportunity to play competative forms of PVP without any Rank/Experience requirements.
The GWPickup service will take place in an IRC channel on Gamesurge. It's an automated service that sets up pug GVGs and advertises them to the channel. It displays the build that's going to be played (so you can check your unlocks), the roles available, players currently signed up to the game and so on. Effectively putting in place an automated pug set up system.
For those of you who look for more serious gameplay, officers (those in charge of a game in progress) will be able to set requirements for joining a pug, whether it be rank, guild rank, etc - That said, the majority of games will remain no requirement, as long as you have the skills required + vent.
The best part of all this is there will finally be a place to play automated sealed deck matches - a fundamentally different form of PVP seen only at Anet sanctioned tournaments, and arguably the most pure/balanced form.
You can read more about sealed deck play here: Sealed Deck
Right now games are being advertised manually as the bot is being scripted, it is however nearing completion and we expect it in place mid week. So I'd like to invite anyone who wants to learn some PVP, who wants to play with other experienced players, or who just wants to come and discuss competative PVP with like minded people to join the channel.
The channel is reasonably small so far (as it's only just been registered) but already pug games are going on. The only requirements are vent/mic, and the skills unlocked for any pug game you wish to join.
In order to access the channel, you can either follow the guide here: Guide
and simply change all instances of #guildwarsguru to #gwpickup.
Or you can visit guildwarsguru.com and enter the chat room, then type /join #GWPickup.
I'd really appreciate anyone and everyone who supports myself and the channel and helps me to fill it up with players who want to pug GVG/TA/HA/Sealed deck regularly. Done right this is an opportunity to create something big.
Cheers!
P.S. The channel is still looking for Game Admins - if you have a second account, or a guild that is able to host pug GVGs, and you're reasonably well versed in PVP, msg me in IRC and let me know.

I urge you to really try this new initiative, either if you are new to pvp, and just want to start it ( this is your chance! ), or if you're bored because atm your guild is not playing any game.
We often have very experienced pvp players leading the teams and playing in our pugs, so this is also a nice chance to meet some new people and learn from them. We're playing every day, people leaving and joining so the sessions last hours.
All you need is vent and working headset, relaxed attitude and ability to play designated build ( you need the skills unlocked ). So please, dont be shy, and use this chance to step into PVP, or if you're already experienced GVG/HA player from top of the ladder, join us in helping new players to get some experience in competetive PVP.
If you need any details, or have additional questions, just post them in this thread, it will be our pleasure to help you.

I'd really like to try seal decked games, will definitely log in there once in a while and see what's going on.
How are the players picked for games, etc.? Is it truly automated or it's still people advertising the games/builds and people ask them to join, etc.? The main reason i ask this question is say we're 3 that are bored cause we're not enough to GvG and want to find a game, is it easy to stay the 3 together?

Sounds Awesome!
Finally, something to do instead of RA when no one is on the old guild/friends list.

We played again today, for 4 hours nonstop. People were leaving, joining, pure PUG GVG. We won almost every game, playing nr/tranq melee pressure I've choosen for this evening. As usual there were experienced top PVP players from our friendlists, and PVE players who decided to join us, and try some real PVP.
Id like to thank all the players who decided to join us today. Hope you had a fun playing with our team!
We're still curently looking for experienced american team leaders/strat callers, because our current officer / leader team is 100% euro, so when we're going to bed, pug guild is kinda dead. PM Tiyuri or me, if you're interested.

The PuG seems to be doing pretty well now. I talked to Tiyuri about setting up a second, NA PuG based out of our alliance as well so we could have multiple teams running once this takes off more.
EDIT: Got it started, looking for folks who can lead matches in it as well.
