Aside from the fact that their gimmicks that take less skill to play from IWAY. You should be happy, this new trash version of halls actualy makes IWAY appear skilled, and a build that is fun to play against.

8v8 allows you to take important utility characters remember!
.. like an extra 2 paragons, or another 2 eles, or perhaps 2 more necros.
This thread illustrates just how stupid the whole 8v8 vs 6v6 argument was. HA IS broken, team size is not the correct answer to fixing it.

8v8 and altar holding was so bad, and the demand for change was so high that it was changed. Altar holding for sure sucked, but the consensus ultimately was that the 6v6 change was too heavy handed. So 8v8 was put back. But now we've got a marginal (but loud and ignorant) minority who want altar holding put back, which puts us precisely where?
Cry, pout, stamp your feet, threaten not to be my friend anymore, or hold your breath until you pass out and it changes nothing. Altar. Holding. Sucked. Ass. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd edit that picture in the OP's post so that the all necro team was in all three party boxes to show you what HA would look like if we put altars back, but you'll just have to use your imagination.
Oh I (and others) will still fight to the bone over this issue just so that the anti-altar coalition gets equal representation in the flame wars and pissing matches that are the signature of this forum (a bad way to attract mods by the way), but it's really becoming wasted breath, or keystrokes as the case may be. My suggestion? Shut the hell up until you can come back with a better alternative to kill counts. [Poster's note: the use of the adjective "better" automatically rules out altar holding as a suggestion].

The failure of 8v8 to bring in utility characters is that there is little or no strategic reason to do so given maps and map objectives. On just about every map you can expect something like the equivalent of fighting on Jade Isle. There are no options.

Too true. Slot(s) devoted to utility on kill count maps are wasted damage potential and can actually wind up helping another team. Let's say you're running dual shutdown mesmers, you reach broken or courtyard, and your group along with a full pressure ele team double-up on some poor souls. While you're shutting down monks your counterparts are free to unload on the disabled team, racking up the kills you've made possible.

I hate using the "i told you so" sentence, but im gonna do it anyway.
Ever since the discussion about 8v8 > 6v6 begun me and some others posted several times that this would be a bad idea and wouldnt be a solution. But everytime we got a slap in the face. "STFU noob, 8v8 rox my soxxx!"
Well ok, u got what you all asked for; An arena with 8v8 that is now even more broken than it was 6v6. When you asked around WHY ppl wanted 8v8 to come back, the reply was: more versatility & a place for utility/support characters and some more.
This weekend i did a crapload of HA and faced a lot of teams, but i only saw maybe 3 teams that truly ran a balanced build. All the other teams were running...cmon guess, lamest thing first.
No?
These are the topmost builds and hands down result of your whining and bitching for months on end:
Icy veins spike
Searing flames
IWAY (yes yes, a modded version but still IWAY)
Paraway
Rangerspike
Invoke lightning spike
Vimway (only a couple teams but its there)
Notice the "spike" after every name? I rest my case.
I kinda agree on the kill count part tho, but it shouldnt be removed imo.
I'd say keep killcount, but make Courtyard holding again.
This way u take the uber defensive builds as well as uber offensive ones out of the meta, or make serious changes to them at least.
And to answer a question, that i KNOW is gonna get asked: Yes, i ran a lame build just as the rest of 99% of the HA community. I never asked for 8v8 in the first place so i might as well take advantage/abuse of it.
