I agree with this point somewhat. Sometimes, what some people call "buildwars" is simply "how a metagame works." It's becoming nearly as overused as "fotm" was when Guildwars launched, and often as invalidly applied.
Are hexes creating real "buildwars?" Probably. Are Melandru dervishes? Not really.
If hexes were on par with conditions in terms of power level, you'd see Melandru coming into and out of fashion as the metagame shifts on a weekly basis, which is a sign of a perfectly balanced metagame. Unfortunately hexes are much more powerful and create a more static metagame, where there are clear winners and clear losers 100% of the time.

I comes from another land and english is not my mother tongue.
So most of time i just read the threads without any replying.
But I shall say this thread is the best one I have ever seen in the gw forum.
All the topic and the replies are brilliant, I've learnt a lot from these.
And I still have two questions. Hope someone could help me:
1. What's the meaning of "R/P/S" in the last paragragh of the topic ?
2. What is an iway build ?

Rock/Paper/Scissors. The current state of Guild Wars.

IWAY stands for "I Will Avenge You!". The build had several incarnations. The first one was an order necro, a tainted necro and 6 W/R's with pets, iway, Tiger's Fury, evis/exe, and a spirit. You'd let the pets die purposely to get the health regen and attack speed from IWAY. Orders stacked back then, meaning if you had both Order of the Vampire and Order of Pain on you, you'd deal +34 damage with an attack, and attack speed stacked, meaning you could attack 66% faster with both IWAY and Tiger's Fury on you (who both increased attack speed by 33% back then), which meant triple DPS. I think that's about it. It was a horribly high pressure build, that changed the face of HA forever (dramatic rite?). Later two trappers were added for two W/R's, and a ritual lord instead of the tainted necro (I think), and the order necro would take Order of Apostapy. I believe finally they even took a Psychic Distraction mesmer.
Tomcruisejr. Should be able to tell you all about it though.

First IWAY was actually eight hammer warrior/rangers. I remember when they held halls all night long the first time it was seen. The orders took another week or so to appear, and then the spirit/trapper rangers later on
