The reason I said that AB isn't worth it, is because most people shudder when they hear mention of Factions. It didn't go over well with most people, as it was a pretty bad Chapter compared to Prophecies (and now compared to Nightfall). As you probably would know, most people now stay well away from Factions, which means that there would have to be something drastic done to it to make people want to play it. Since GW:EN is in the works, I doubt there's any plans to fix Factions PvP.

Yeah, factions gave birth to assassins, and ritu spirit spammers (bleh). Those classes didn't do PvP any good indeed (I wasn't there before factions, but I can miss spirit spam like toothache). PvE wise factions was quite poor, but that doesn't have something to do with PvP. Still, I wonder how seriously I should take it when a person like Gaile Gray says 'factions PvP will be looked at', but knowing aNet a little they will probably keep looking at it, and looking at it, and so on...

I just hate it that high level PvP is hardly worth it for newcomers because it's quite enjoyable. This episode of GW will only last so long before the playerbase becomes extinct, so even if I would go through all the pain that, say, you have been through I wouldn't get out of it what you got out of it.

That's why I said something fresh would put everyone back at point 0. Hell I could even be fighting one of you hardcore GvG/HA types. Would be a pleasure to whoop your arse/get whooped.

Well, PvE doesn't necessarily have to do with PvP, but in Factions, the PvE was linked to the PvP, as it was meant to be a PvP-driven chapter. So you have to play through the PvE to get the option to become Luxon/Kurzick etc etc. People don't enjoy that too much, and since AB wasn't that good anyway, people just bailed on AB's :P

Sure its enjoyable.. but there needs to be some more incentives for people to even get into PvP to get interested in this. Other than RA and AB, do you really think your average Joe will get that interested in the playstyles to want to become much better and do High End GvG? Repetitive builds and repetitve objectives definetly won't, thats why I think new modes like HvH (it has its flaws of course) are actually really good for the game. Too bad again it is somewhat restrictive, with lame-o cookie cutter builds.

This may be true for US side of things, but doesn't hold on EU side, which sports relatively active ATs. For how long, is a good question.

If people think PvP is dead now just wait until a certain PvP game comes out in the Fall.

The forums for that game are full of the current and ex Guild Wars PvP players and I can foresee a huge exodus when it goes retail.

This is very worrying as it will cause a large drop in the player base and as a result will further lower the quality of what PvP is left in this game.

From my point of view the automated tournaments are just another mistake that has put another nail in the coffin of Guild Wars PvP. Of the people I know in the game I know of only 2 who participate in the AT’s the remaining 100+ do not and will not because they can not afford to spend the time in a single sitting to be part of them.

This is shown by the comments made on various threads on these forums as a lot of guilds forfeit the tournaments because they can not maintain a team for the duration.
