OMG It's unbelievble
Hi all,
I just recently unlocked HA, because I did most of the time PvE (playing now 12 months). It's incredible hard to gain a group there, they are always looking for ppl with AT LEAST R8, some ppl are even looking for R11 or higher . So now are my qustions as follow...
1: Wich rank do they mean, champion, gladiator, hero ranks???
2: How do you obtain those ranks?
3: Any strategy for obtaining those ranks?
4: Why do they all use Vent and not TS?
5: Meeting point is that always in International District?
Thanks for helping me.

Hero Rank title.
2: How do you obtain those ranks?
You win Heroes' Ascent battles.
3: Any strategy for obtaining those ranks?
Get a good group, and start pwning. Usually through guilds.
4: Why do they all use Vent and not TS?
TS is easily hacked I believe.
5: Meeting point is that always in International District?
Most of them.

People just like the sound quality on Vent. TS isn't easily hacked BTW.
More problems come from poor server management than anything.

Your best bet is to find a guild and learn with them. A tall order, I know, but it honestly is the best way to not only get a better rank, but also improve as a player.

Vent > TS because you get the BEEP when you start talking.
On TS you could be saying all this shit and wouldn't know it, where on vent when you stop talking it goes BEEP.

Join a dedicated HA guild. If you HA with your guild every day for a few months you will be pretty highly ranked as well as "known." Being "famous" in HA counts for as much as rank, imo.

One problem with that, HA guilds often require you to have rank in order to join.

Often, but not always. If you show promise, many guilds that say they're r3+ will still let you in.
Your best bet is to find some easy to play builds, form your own groups (hopefully from friends, but at the beginning pug is probably unavoidable), and get to r3, which really isn't that hard if you can lead and manage a group well. Try to play at peak hours (afternoon-night hours in America or Europe) to maximize the number of unorganized randomways or less organized groups to get fame from. Playing at the bad hours would mean a very difficult victory in underworld, a skip to courtyard, and going back to town. I noticed I can easily get 5 win streaks (16 fame) during peak hours, but I only average 2-3 wins at off hours (3-6 fame).
If you're just starting out pvp, I'd recommend another form (maybe TA?) until you get used to the difference between pve and pvp. Then you'd be in much better shape to lead teams.

And how would you prove your promising? The only way I could think of is A) an officer in the guild interviews you to see your PvP know-how. or B) Your are invited as a guest and they let you play so they can see your performance.

Thank you all for the replies. But I started a guild and it's hard to find a decent PvP alliance So for me it depends on PUG's.
"Try to play at peak hours (afternoon-night hours in America or Europe)" Can u tell me the time in GMT pls
"Get to r3, which really isn't that hard if you can lead and manage a group well" Do you have to be the leader to get fame?

No, everyone in the group gets fame.
I gotta say that I've been Pugging a bit recently, and it's scary to see how badly people can play things like SF. I've had a couple of 1min+ on the zaishen to which the team start cheering and think it's great.

OMG, that's sad... I useally go as a RC monk or as a SH ele. I wend with a pug and the zaishen elite in 41 sec... pretty fast I guess, but we got pwnd in UW

The 2 sin, 2 sh ele, 1 water ele, 3 monk build still works pretty well. You can also try running with 4 sf eles, 1 water ele, 3 monks. Those are pretty beginner friendly builds that can do fairly well in UW and burial mounds. Obviously they suffer in the higher levels due to its lack of flexibility, but it's a good start for getting fame.
The time for peak hours is probably 6pm-10pm GMT? Check the number of districts, and you'll notice that there are 3-4 international ones (as opposed to 2). That'll show when it's peak hours.
As for my comment about leading a group, I just noticed that it's a lot easier to lead a group and get fame because I can direct what everyone is doing and get my desired lineup of skills.

That is because, no offense to the OP, you're probably better at the game than he is. If you don't really have a clear idea what is a good lineup of skills, and more importantly why it's a good lineup of skills, this won't work.

You need a high rank to play but you need to play to get a high rank to play to get higher rank so you can play to get a higher rank.

I started HA after IWAY was nerfed to oblivion and everyone was looking for r9+ pugs. I came in from pve, and for the first few games I didn't know too much about what I was doing. There wasn't even HA observer mode, but I managed to come up with good builds (some of which were meta, which I guess is unavoidable at the beginning level) and got to r5 in a week or so. Don't let the fact that you're starting late discourage you. There are many other examples like me where they started HA/pvp really late but still were successful because they knew what they were doing.
