Shield set (with +5e/+30HP, so you can stay on it longer if needed)
Dual 15/-1 set
Something with an enchanting part (varies with what your enchantments are)
Some sort of spam set (recharge/cast time mods for when you're not threatened)
You're going to want one of the latter two sets to have some defense on it so that you can cast when your shield set is drained but you don't want to dip into 15/-1s yet.
Sit in shield set as much as possible, especially in big fights where the extra armor lets you play more aggressively without being a liability.

people yell at me when I do this. They are always warriors.
also, trevor, wand damage DOES add up against splits. but they have to be bad splits. i.e. people that pull both knights at once, or they send someone back with no self heal like a mesmer. then you snare and wand until dead, especially that mesmer that has lod for some reason.
In actual splits though, it's more about turtling in boat and keeping up knights and archers.

I forgot you don't have to defensively split because FFs runs around the map for 25 minutes.
The problem with Pink was, they like, never collapsed on splits. ever. send back a monk and hope for the best mirite?

I simply take only 1 shieldset and take a 15>50 on my enchantment staff!
Everyone that states the 15>50 set is bollocks is a retard and needs to quit gw. It's useful in nearly every game. And there is *something* to say for putting it up on a main 20/40 set. BEcause you use it in a fight (and dont give me the bullshit of needing to cast, noone is casting 24/7).
In this game you do 3 things:
Moving
Casting
Attacking
The only exceptions are when youre blocked snared and have spiteful spirit.
And in a spit a 15>50 is without doubt game deciding. Often.

If you're pro-actively splitting, the 15^50 is never going to be game deciding. Ever. It's very, very rare that two decent splits come to the point where any wand damage at all is going to make a significant difference. Of course, that's not to say that you shouldn't be wanding anyways, but it's not worth it to miss the chance to get a few spells past a D-shot to do 2 extra damage a second. Especially as a SoR ele, your job is to keep your shit alive and to keep the opponents snared, let the warrior/ranger take care of the killing. You can blow shit out your ass all you want, but the only time I've ever been truly glad to have my 15^50 out on a split is when a warrior and I ganked the lord on Jade just before they collapsed. I think you need to split a bit more often against some decent teams before you start running your mouth.
Likewise, no team is going to break because of 2 extra damage a second. No team is going to break because one character isn't wanding, either. Granted, the 20% faster casting mod isn't going to make the same impact as a 20% recharge mod, but when you look at it, you should be sitting around on your primary casting set only when you, well, need to cast spells. Sitting still wanding on it when the other team isn't pressured is just asking to get pew pew'd.
