Default New AT Map Rotation

Well, Anet added a new series of maps for ATs today. The rotation is now Corrupted Isle, Isle of Jade, Uncharted Isle, Warrior's Isle, and Isle of Weeping Stone. (I think that's the order but I'm not sure; those are the available maps though)

First glance shows that these maps are either broken or annoying.

Discuss.

Jade is hardly an 8v8 map these days, although everyone fights on it 8v8 in the space between the teleporters as exiting your base any other way will see you ganked faster than anything you'll believe.

Corrupted is more broken than jade used to be, there is only really one viable build to run on that map, and thats split. Certainly every team i have played against there runs recall, doesnt make much sense to run anything else

Uncharted is a nice map to play on tactically, and so is Warriors until VOD. is it just me that thinks that making the catas "breakable" after their repair would make those cata maps more balanced? Maybe repairing the cata should spawn an NPC like the "dwarven engineers" you get manning the PVE catas, where killing them breaks the cata again and maybe spawns the repair kit again. Would add another layer of strategy I think and take away an element of the randomness that everyone hates. Weeping Stone is OK, not really a split map though, stronger to run AoE in those really tight spaces.

If they want to test people across the range of scenarios then you just run frozen, druids, burning, uncharted, something like that, but more importantly than the choice of maps, make the map selection for each round totally random and unknown until load. It kind of defeats the object if you know in advance what map you're going to play on imo. You should have to play a build capable of playing on any possible selection of maps

Dont put corrupted in until it either gets changed or stuff like recall gets shafted.

Jade Isle, no complaints I sorta like the new jade even though I haven't played on it a lot yet.

Uncharted, one of my favorite maps, why wasn't this one in before?

Warrior's.. don't like the map period, randomness on pults makes it completely retarded for tournaments imo..

Weeping Stone.. this is my least favorite map in the game.. recall split is pretty ridiculous on it and otherwise it pretty much encourages 8v8..

Izzy told me that the map choices were completely random and that Corrupted was gonna be the 4th map originally..

Meh, I'd like to see Imperial, Nomad's, Druid's, Uncharted, Dead but I doubt that's ever going to happen ;/

I would like to see complete randomness on each AT. I don't understand why ANET keep's giving advantage to gimmick and pre-made builds that are fully prepared for each round/map of the AT.

It would be much more fun not knowing the currents map rotation...

There is nothing wrong with any of the maps on their own really, it's the combination of map and build that leads to gimmicks, ie. recall split on corrupted. As you can obviously chose the build I can't understand how anet would want to give people running gimmicks an advantage by letting people build to the maps. Therefore, if anet want to allow corrupted/broken maps then the only way I can see to do it is to make it completely random every tourney. This would also encourage balanced builds/builds which can deal with every map.

Corrupted is a horrible map.

Jade is an ok choice since the fix.

Uncharted is a great choice, one of the better maps IMO.

Warriors is a decent map, but as said by others, the randomness of the catapults isn't great.

Weeping stone is fairly meh, but it's one of my least favourite maps.

ANet need to either run a totally random map selection for every AT, or atleast use some of the better maps, such as Frozen, Druid's, Nomad's and Isle of the Dead.

I agree. Anet needs to use the better maps, ones that are balanced anyways. The only good thing with 'random' maps is that guilds will run some different builds..which is always good....

I laugh at people who say Nomads is a good map.

It's pretty though, that's for sure.

Having played a bit on the new jade, it's a somewhat puzzling map. We played a strong 3-man offensive ganker build, figuring that hard splits would be hard to deal with. The situation quickly looked a lot like imperial though, since, once you go through the enemy's teleporter, if the other team can throw together a strong split response they can quickly get right in your face and your options are:
a) killing their split response, which is tough given the coral you are in and the archer placement.
b) Running through the split response, which likely has a water ele and isn't much fun since it's more running through the coral
c) running through the enemy footmen and eventually the enemy's stand team
Also collapsing isn't as viable as you think since, again, the map allows for quick transitions to and from the stand on both sides.
So far for me it's like a more painful imperial isle.

Corrupted is just ugly.
Uncharted is nice.
Warrior's is risky I suppose, but less random than the other cata maps, and at least both catas are relatively close in effectiveness(unlike Wizard's, for instance).

Weeping is somewhat interesting. I think that splits can work well, as can strong AoE builds, or just plain physical heavy builds.
So for me, it's not a bad month, just not a huge fan of Corrupted.

I can't say much about the new Jade. I played RIP on it last night and it seems to be an ok map. Corrupted is just horrifibad and I can't understand how they could put that in. Warriors is alright in my book, but I hate the cata. Uncharted is nice and weeping stone is meh.

I like it when they make a new set of maps. But there are still problem with them -_-
Corrupted : with 2 separated ways and so many NPC, if you don't split, you lose. And it is so damn dark and ugly.
New Jade is not too bad like the old one I guess.
Warrior is nice design, except the catapult.
And I hate Weeping Stone too. Dark, so many narrow space, and dazed on yourselves.

So far it appears to me that a "normal" 3men split (meaning: warrior, ranger, elementalist) on Jade Isle seems doomed if the opponent responds right. However, a split with shadowprisons and teleporting assassins is very powerful since it can teleport over the coral and onto the high ledges where the archers are.

This is a bad thing, dedicated splits are powerful, but if you run a balanced build it's very hard to split when things go bad.

Of course, this is only after a few games, and I could (hopefully) be wrong.
