Default First time in HA for 6 months
I’m 22 fame from gaining Rank 5 and decided last night to venture back into HA and at least get to Rank 5 over the next few days.

I’m on the Euro servers and entered English Dist 1 seeing just 5 other players. Not a problem I thought as I always use to play in International Districts anyway, (was still surprised to see so few people in English District 1 though). Even in the International Districts there were a fraction of the players that use to frequent HA back in my day.

Now I’ve played GW for nearly 2 years, frequent these forums daily and try to keep up with things. However, I spent most of my time looking up builds that I’ve never come across before, Zergway, Heroway, and the like.

After trying to get in a team for over an hour with my Mes I did not see the formation of one single ‘Balanced’ team. Even through the IWAY days there were always a decent amount of ‘Balanced’ teams forming.

Are ‘Balanced’ teams a thing of the past?

I’ll try again over the weekend and see if it’s any different then but am really resigned to stay away until at least GW:EN is released. Swallow my pride and jump on any bandwagon going that the new skills throw up and achieve rank 5.

I know I could join a HA guild but as I’m leader of our guild/alliance, (primarily PVE), it’s not an option.

Please Anet hurry up with GW2 and lets start all this afresh!

In the past 2 weeks I have seen 1 balanced team forming.

We beat them flawless using heroway (I know, n00bish but hey I'd rather pay a boobish build than wait for 3 hours). Anyway, balanced is just too underpowered in comparison to the builds that are around these days.

It has been like this ever since Heroway came around the corner. After that things just went downhill.



In the past I have ranted about Iway/Searing flames etc. as well. But looking back at it I really feel that this was not justified. What Anet does is let the fame grinders roam around untill the community finds ways to defeat them, after which they nerf the builds to death.

How I currently see it is: let there be one very easy build to play, which can be beaten by good players. The noobs will automatically favor that build, and the rest can just innovate around it.

In fact: what we saw at both SF and Iway was that more and more groups brought counters to it. If a lot of counters are in play the build will easily be beaten.

THat way the metagame just balances itself. But this fails if Anet starts making all these weird changes.

imo, HA is dead because of.


- 6v6

- Overpowered skills that took a long time to be nerfed.

- Killcount and other mechanics


If they fixed it, I`d come back for my r6....

Don't HA. It was worth it at one time, but at this point it would be irresponsible of me NOT to tell you the cost to your sanity far outweighs any possible benefits.

Stay home, have a drink, read a book instead.
