Pretty much. I don't see many teams leaving it up for long, even if you put it as far away as possible.

It'd be pretty interesting in PvE though...maybe in areas where monsters already use famine :O

Your necro is really out of place
one character laying down a few hexes on the sins' targets won't be effective, simply DH food.

first of all, the assassins need to actually hit the targets to charge up fear me, which means blocking and blind will cripple this build. the most popular skill ppl use these days is aegis, this build need more enchant removal than just rip enchantment. i am working on the similar build that involves the basic concept of assassin with fear me but i am running a completely different bar where i don't focus all the skills on adrenaline gain because e drain only works when the enemy is under pressure. if your assassins do no damage, there is no need for heals, thus there is no need for much energy. ur assassin bar is also very energy intensive with a lot 10 energy skills. the assassins are also relying on a lot of enchantment which means, a stack enchant removal skill will complete render the assassins useless.

I've actually worked on this ages ago, but meh, never too late to post it eh..?
Same concept, except that I use:
- 'Fear me!' sin.
-a Rit with splinter weapon, water trident, freezing gust, offencive spirits and painful bond to cover hexes.
-Famine ranger, obviously with traps but also with winnowing!
-and best of all, Orders! these cause the massive damage.
Sorry to say that I've not tested it anywhere outside of TA, quit this game for awhile and came back with empty friendslist
Cheers. hope it inspires someone.

Oo I havent been on this forum let alone in Guildwars in over 6 months and I know whenever your build is based on a spirit let alone a elite spirit more then likely it isnt going to work.

That's the beauty of it, my original concept started out at a late night, or morning depents on how you consider it. Trying to see how much dps I could get off an assassin. So that brought me to locusts fury... believe it or not but my original one actually used a pet and tiger's fury :P
(*sigh* late nights and lots of beer can do that.)
But after that I came by to use orders and winnowing, that's actually the main concept, the energy denial and the famine spirit is basicly just extra with the thing I made up. Actually only once used famine, but the TA version was more like:
A/W locust's, fear me + frenzy (yes I know, weird huh, I'll explain later)
A/W locust's, fear me + frenzy and snaring attacks...
Rt/R with shelter (to keep the sins safe on frenzy..) winnowing and stuff like union, rit lord etc.
N/Mo Order of the Vampire to actually 'heal party' the sins ^^, and obviously some healing. while gaining energy from the spirits that the rit lord makes.
obviously this is far from perfect, but as you can see it's actually more of a damage through melee then damage through energy denial build.
come to think of it, the fear me part was actually a friend's idea. I would've made it up with frenzy if it wasn't for that hangover that morning
(the build actually killed about half the teams in ta, not impressive, I know. but this isn't the full version and we mainly lost because of the lack of snares, which is why I put the guy with water trident in my ha version.)
CHEERS!

One small problem in your description. Necros dont gain energy from other peoples' spirits anymore.

Very nice ppl are paying attention it's the older version tho, didn't mod it to the current one...
Remade TA build for damage only, dropped the whole fear me concept and the gwshack site is here. Still love it to pieces.

Notes regarding to obvious weaknesses
Read these notes. they may sway your opinion of this build.
the survival of the famine spirit
Famine does deal damage, but in pulses. The spirit will be alive for at least 10 seconds against the average team, during which it will deal around 100 damage. If not killed, your assassins will destroy the opposing team with pressure.
Lack of damage?
there is a lot of damage in this build apart from famine. barbs adds 32 DPS if the hexed foe is under the attack of a sin, and the sins themselved deal 20-40 dps with high attack and crit rate. (this has been tested and proven). (Wither and) malaise add(s) a decent amount of damage also.

Well maybe when in HA ppl wont even notice the famine and will be working about attacking the monks or the sins...but then again this seems like a decent build but how will it stack up against the ever popular heroway?

Hm. Sorry, it's been done. My guild ran this build months and months ago, before NF. When HA was still good. And trust me, the build worked, regardless that the build was based around a spirit.
But yeah, we ran;
W/E - shock axe, fear me
W/N - sword, fear me + BiP
2x EDenial Mes (esurge)
R/Rt - famine, hard res
3 monks
it owned
