Default E/D Searing Flames

I use this build every time I AB. Honestly, if more people used builds of this caliber, maybe it would be more challenging... Anyway, here it is:

Flare
Searing Flames
Glowing Gaze
Mark of Rodgort
Mystic Regeneration
Flame Attunement
Aura of Restoration
Flame Djinn's Haste

Fire Magic - 12+1+3
Earth Prayers - 8
Energy Storage - 10+1

Equipment: Fiery Spear of Enchanting [+5 energy], Flame Artifact of Fortitude [+health while enchanted], Survivor Insignias, Superior Fire, Minor Energy Storage, Superior Vigor, 2 optional runes.

It's really an amazingly simple build. Didn't even bother adding a weapon swap because I was lazy. It can solo cap any shrine, and take on multiple enemies at once, though anti-caster or spike damage can bring it down. Usage is simple, just keep the Attunement and Aura up at all times, use Mystic Regeneration when you're under fire, and Flame Djinn's when you're moving around the map/kiting. To kill enemies, just hex them with Mark and then spam alternating Searing Flames and Flare, and use Glowing Gaze whenever it recharges to keep your energy up.

I decided to post this build after playing a few ABs tonight... the thing I really noticed is how many people just bring their normal low-end builds that they use in team PvP or PvE situations. The thing is, AB often calls for people to take the initiative and split from a useless mobbing situation to cap. Most builds rely on teammates, and as understandable as that is, the ability to move and fight on your own is invaluable in AB situations. This build includes a speed buff, self-healing, energy management, and spammable AoE damage... everything a good player needs to succeed in an AB.

Either you or your enemies aren't alive long enough to get much use out of Mark of Rodgort in Ab. I'd just take out Flare and MoR for Immolate and Liquid Flame or Fireball or something. Plus, you'll get to start spitting out SF's faster.

Other than that, E/D's are E/D's.

Let's face it. AB is AB. There will always be people taking PvE builds, and there will always be top GvG'ers who are too lazy to change their build for such an easy form of PvP because as unsuited as their builds are for AB, they're still much better than your typical dolyak signet troll farmer.

SF isn't as spotty as Heat, and is still one of the better skills for flooding someone with damage faster than self-heals can keep pace.

But that's not the problem. The problem is that it's a glass cannon, because you basically have to eat everything that's thrown at you and pray Mystic Regen fixes it. I can't really justify running any ele build in AB aside from dual-attunement air, because that's the only way to really put out steady damage while not being gank bait (thanks to Flash), especially with the Blurred nerf.

Before the WoW nerf I'd be able to justify running something like mind blast E/Rt or shatterstone snare E/Rt, but now that the defense has been gutted it isn't really viable anymore.

Default Signet of Midnight for ele

People do it in differant ways, my elite skill for AB is Signet of Midnight. You don't need any points to use it, and it takes care of the mellee attackers who want to feast on my poor little ele. Blind them, then use Lava Font/Breath 0f Fire/Searing heat or even Meteor Shower...it all adds up to toasted Warrior/Dervish.
These AoE spells are just the thing for capping shrines, also. I also bring Immolate, Fire Attunement, and Aura of Restoration. Flame Djinns Haste is nice, sometimes I switch with Lava Font. I find more use for L.F. tho, cooked many foes with it. Searing Flames is an energy hog..way to expensive to spam, and thats the only way it's effective(IMO). Plus it takes up the elite slot.

Obviously you don't get the point of Aura of Restoration. With all my enchantments up, I rely on the healing from it (spamming spells here) and Mystic Regeneration to keep me alive while I drop gankers and NPCs. To be continuously casting spells, I use 1 second cast spells with short recharges- Flare, Searing Flames, and Glowing Gaze. I could switch Flare for Immolate, but it does LESS damage and has a longer recharge. Fireball is completely unsuitable for this kind of spamming as it has a 2 second cast and 7 second recharge. Liquid Flame is useful, but again, the longer recharge makes it a mostly useless skill in this build. Flare IS the best skill for that slot, whether you use it or not.

what about [skill]Armor of sanctity[/skill] instead of aura?

SF build has excelent synergy with this.

Ok, if you really depend on the ~15 health you get from spamming Flare with AoR up, you need to be kiting instead. Why not spam SF instead, it's your main damage anyway. AoR is good for a cover enchant and an extra enchant to keep Mystic going, not the heal you get from it. Flare is just bad, we've been over this.

the power of sf is in its support skills, you'd be surprised how insane the damage output could be of a single sf ele still

Apparently you weren't reading my last post. Searing Flames has a 2 second recharge, so instead of standing there doing nothing, I use Flare to keep up the spell-spam. And the healing from AoR is on top of that of Mystic Regen., which gives me the health I need to take down multiple enemies on my own.

Personally, I think the E/D build is very effective well thought out build (great rez shrine protector) but it has become very popular in AB of late, a bit too popular. My Migraine Me/N loves you though.

I cast:

conjure phantasm
envenom enchantments
migraine
then go to town interrupting

E/D down is seconds..

Rend > Envenom.
If you're running a Mesmer against an Ele in AB you just catch SF with Diversion or p-drain Stoneflesh Aura and there goes 90% of their build.

This is my anti-ele favourite:
[skill]Corrupt Enchantment[/skill]

But hell that nuker build isnt too bad the op posted, too bad it can only nuke. Riotgears air build can do a lot more then that and still kill stuff.

I would switch lightning strike for enervating charge though, weakness nice with all the warriors I see in AB.

I also run an Air ele in AB (especially now that the Shatterstone E/Rt was nerfed to hell, what with Blurred and Weapon of Warding getting nerfed into near-uselessness :/):

I'm not sure if Mystic Regen+Aura of Rest. is enough to save you from ganking sins.
