Henchway was completely terrible in the hands of all but the top players -> henchway was virtually nonexistant -> people don't complain about things they never fight

Time and again the only real argument I see for heros in PvP is new players NEED them to find a group. This is entirely false and I'll say it again, Friends List, Guild, Guild Alliance, and Random Grouping, should ALL be more important than Heros when it comes to finding a group in high level PvP (HA/GvG). Heros actually stagnate your ability to compete if you rely on them early on, you will not build the player base of friends/guildmates/PvP teamates that you NEED in order to compete while playing, and playing and winning with a real team of people is more fun imho. Olias and Koss dont talk much on Vent or in team chat, they wont tell you if they recognize a strategy to counter something unexpected or lead you to a better position, EVER, why would you WANT to rely on the deaf mute and dumb? If your new dont gimp yourself and think you need heros, if you need a "filler" grab a hench or ziashen, if youre a long time player and you dont have the friends/guildmates/alliance/PvP teamates, well start working on them, or dont aim for the 8 man PvP arenas. Thats why theres so many other PvP options

I predicted that the reinstatement of 8v8 would still have kill count and I was floored when I was correct. How coincidental it is that kill count was FINALLY removed but just before the release of their next expansion. I feel it is a way for Anet to say "Hey we actually do listen to our customers" which in reality it is just a pathetic attempt to get some old player base back and to improve their upcoming sales. Anet wake up it is WAY to late for that.
Look at how long we had to bitch for them to limit the amount of heroes from last fall. Problem now is if they remove heroes altogether there will be tons of hall skips because of the mere handful of players still doing HA. I will vote for the removal as it should not have been implemented in the beginning but this game is dead to me as well as Anet.
What is funny is that guildies and I use Guild Wars as the butt of our jokes on ventrillo from time to time and laugh at the skill balancing and PvP rep.

HA is decent now, how can you comment on the state of GW when you haven't played for 8 months?

I'd just like ot point out something for those who say hero's play better then humans, im not sure who ytou play with but i know that:
1. Hero's will spam through spellbreaker untill they have 0 energy.
2. It becomes increasingly hard to split with hero's as well as you can split with humans.
3. Humans can do things hero's can't such as infuse, spike, and strange jobs like jagged MM.
I dont know, maybe HA has become a giant pool of scrubs, but i would rather have anyone on my friends list over hero's. I know that when i face heroway i win 90% of the time. So sure let them stay, they can keep fueling my rank advancement.

Heroes belong in PvE to help you kill charr. Just because people can't play doesn't mean they should get an animated character to kick other guys' arses. Zhed is better then half the idiots in HA, people should learn by themselves and others at the same level, not with awesome super NPC's that can spam like crazy non-stop.

Lmao, its not Hero's Ascent, suggesting that it belongs to the heros, it's Heroes Ascent duhu. The ascension of heroes, duhu. Most heroes aren't computer animated spammers, duhu.

Heroes' Ascent is a continuous global tournament between teams of 8 players from all over the world. -From the wiki
The real "Heroes" of Heroes Ascent, are the real players.
Keep in mind HA was originally located at Tomb Of The Primeval Kings.

i think that heroes should be removed from all forms of PvP except Hero-Battles...if they were banned from HA then it would be one less annoying fame-farming team that you have to encounter...
having heroes in your team really does remove the purpose of PvP - seeming as PvP stands for Player vs. Player!

Let's make something clear.
Guild Wars - not a MMORPG, but it's made to be played ONLY over the internet
In that case, why is that PvE in Guild Wars is like single player (heroes, henchies) on the internet and now even PvP can be like that. I mean, they should re-release Guild Wars as a single player game so I can save some money on my internet bills. What's the point of being connected on the internet if you can do any part of the game, PvP or PvE, on your own?
Guild Wars is not even close to what it was in the start. There were few OP builds (spirit spam and dual smite), but it got fixed. New chapter came, new OP builds came with it, it could be fixed. I don't see why are heroes added, why are rules that were there from the start changed, why is all that changed?
I know ANet fails at fixing bugs:
- last relic run - you could drop the relic to the person under you from the relic spawn place --> fixed: they added a vase so you can't reach that spot.
- guild hall door bug --> fixed: they removed the doors.
but they could try to do something about the skills and not game mechanics. i.e. why can't we get a hero when someone drops (since reconnect is removed - PvE is more important than PvP, but the name of the game is GUILD wars) with exactly the same skills player who dropped had?
Or just make skills 2 zoned. That they have 2 different descriptions, for PvP and PvE. That way skill changes would be done way faster and wouldn't affect PvE pros.

I'll probably get flamed for this....
Those of us who are playing balanced most of the time (including myself) are partly responsible for the current situation.
We balanced players are complaining about virtually everything. If it's not about a certain build being overused or overpowered, it's something else. Back in the day when HA could be roughly divided into 30% iway, 30% spike, 20% smite, 15% balanced and 5% other, the situation wasn't perfect. But it was way better than nowadays.
Hardcore balancedplayers are looking for the highest level of gameplay possible. This is of course understandable. We want matches to be challenging and versatile. But it's simply not realistic. There need to be builds accesiable to new players. Sure, iway and bspike were used as famefarmingbuilds, but many who played those builds moved on to balanced for instance.
I got back to the game 3 days ago. But from what I've seen ingame and read here, about 95% is playing a fotmbuild. There is no reason now to move on to balanced for most players and there is no reason for balancedplayers to return to HA. Result, HA is completely broken.
I longer back to the days of about 1 year ago. No it wasn't perfect, but there were builds for everyones playingstyle, HA was quite crowded and speaking for myself, I had lots of fun eventhough I faced so much iway/spiketeams.
