I would have to say monk, but Mesmer would be a close second.

Well as others have said, the team as a whole relies on the individual skill level but some chemistry as well. So each person is as valuable as their weakest link ultimately.
I've always thought monk skill was important, but solid midline performance will dictate what your offense & defense can produce.

A good interrupt ranger wins a match pretty handily. However, 95% of interrupt rangers are terrible. I've gone whole matches with bad rangers spamming interrupts at me and never hitting a thing.

This is because to be a good ranger you need to be a great monk/mesmer/whatever yourself.
Only this way can you know when the next important thing needs to be interrupted and fire your interrupt before you actually see the thing being cast.
Average rangers spam interrupts hoping to catch something, like diversion spamming mesmers, good rangers aim for a specific skill.
This way, I can catch zealous benediction around 1 on 4 tries, some probably can get more, but interrupting monks is a pain since it's hard to know when they are going for reversal or benediction.
Anyway, on topic, the most pivotal profession for any match is a good minion master necro.
Hmm... yeah... sorry for the joke, but I'd like some love for necros

Again, I would feel better off knowing my 4th player slot was a good monk, than a good ranger.
