Depends will you play prot or lod monk. I have been told that vD monks use disciple insignia which are +15 armor while you have condition.
And yes. hat and minor rune in it for your primary attribute, then +1 for divinefavor and +1 to the other attribute spec if you have. Superior vigor ofcourse and then perhaps last ones for vitae.

kool, i forgot to ask about weapon equpiment too, im currently using a -5 nrg spear and a war shield, then a 20/20 +5 armor staff and +15 nrg wand and offhand for emergency. Does that sound right?
sorry if there was a 24 hour post rule, i am not sure if that applied to threads other than sale threads.
Deng, 2 people posted while i typed this, thx all!

my sets:
1) Low Set: -5e 15% always wand. Shield
2) Standard Set: +5e 20% longer enchants sword. Shield
3) High Set: +30hp/HCT20% prot focus, +5e 20%longer ench sword.
4) Emergency Set: 15/-1 Focus, +5e 20% longer ench sword
Carry a shield vs each type of damage (piercing, blunt, lighting, ect). starts off as vs slashing as standard but varies at the start of the battle onwards.
Also carry a +30hp mainhand incase you get too much DP or you fight something where the duration of enchants is irrelevant (bspike)

You should basically have an efficiency set for every spell on your bar, a defence set, a high set and a low set.
Personally I run:
Set 1: Prot Staff 20% global recharge, 40% FC Prot, 20% enchant.
Set 2: Sword +5e, +5 armour/30hp / Shield + 30 hp, +10 vs. X. (I have slashing as default)
Set 3: 40/40 wand/focus healing set.
Set 4: +15 -1 regen x2 set.
I also have a low set to swap in by click, but I play with inventory open most the time for shield swaps if I remember ^^
I don't understand it when people say to run enchanting swords, because you shouldn't really be casting in it 99% of the time, as there is no benefit from running a spear with enchant when you could switch to a staff for the enchant, chance at fast recharge/cast and then switch back to shield set afterwards.
You should be switching to the right set for each cast basically, and sit in your defence set.
For armour, I use health insignias, sup vigor, minor healing, minor prot, minor df and daze/deepwound runes.

is this really true? If most top monks switch sets for every cast or close to every cast... i have ALOOOOOOT of practice to do
i dunno if this will make me sound like a noob but i find i rarely switch item sets i might switch up to 1st emergency nrg set and if i really must up to 2nd emergency nrg set. Against edenial i would constantly switch down to low nrg sets and back up to normal to cast things.
I would switch to lightning sets against rit spike but thats irrelevant now, id switch to piercing or fire against rspike or paraway or sf but they are sorta irrelevant.
What sets do you use against the typical balanced build now? And why?

For something like LoD I sit on my 40/40 set unless I am being pounded on, in which case I'd sit on my shield set, and switch to the appropriate set when casting a spell (like a +ench when casting PS). On a prot monk, I sit on my +ench/shield set more, and go to 40/40 sets while casting something like gift or if I need more energy.
The observation of the battle and being able to switch to the right set at the right time is more important than getting carpel tunnel from switching sets every cast.

My personal sets at the moment are:
F1: +5/+30spear and 10% HSR +30hp focus
F2: Staff with 20% HCT inscription, hale head and enchanting wrapping
F3: Shield set with +5e&+30hp spear and shields for every damage, -cripple and daze
F4: +15/-1 10HSR wand and +15/-1 +30hp focus
Ofcourse depends on match, I can swap sets, but those are basics. At the current edenial skills I see no reason to use -5 energy weapons as there aren't heavy edenial, but all in case I have my -5e zodiac sword in backpocket =p
And yes, top monks swap sets pretty much. Mostly monks should sit on their shield set, for casts swap, it doesn't take long, as said in Tommy's post in QQ forums.
For me, I sit usually on shield set and cast on staff. The normal set is just well... umm... normal set, which isn't even used pretty much anymore. And +energy set is for emergency situations ofcourse.

I would say that about 50% of "top" monks (which means that they're in the top guilds, not necessarily the best monks) ever weapon swap, and 1% weapon swap for every cast.

I really dislike the fragmentation of my posts, actually. They're not focused on any particular topic and are generally a reaction to the questions or opinions of others. Granted, there's some relevant information in there, but as far as a starting guide for monking goes, nothing like that is nearly comprehensive enough. I know that for some time, people were trying to create an archive of my writings, but that might have been too much work and searching, so I don't know where that project has gone. If I do establish something comprehensive that I'm satisfied with as a guide, though, I'll make sure to post it around.

Why prot staff then healing set? you really switch when you use a skill with either attribute?
Also, i use -5 nrg weapon with a slashing shield, you just prefer not bringing a -5 nrg weapon?

Weapon switching is a good thing to do, but the prot staff is used mostly for casting Aegis.
I always keep a -5 energy sword in my backpack in case the other team is running e-denial. If they have no e-denial there's no reason for energy hiding.

Yes, as best I can I switch for every cast for maximum efficiency. It seems like a lot, but once you get used to it you just can't press 2 without pressing F1 first (ie. I automatically switch to prot staff to cast prot spirit etc)
I have a -5 energy set in my inventory, but there isn't too much edenial around atm (obviously there are other times that they're good, but that's the most obvious) and I just click into it if it ever is necessary. The only time it's bad is when you want to die in your low set and it can be hard to click into it at the right time.

I agree that it is great for Aegis, but there is no reason you shouldn't be switching to it for any other prots as well. You get extra duration from enchanting, chance at FC (good for SoA or whatever) and chance at fast recharge. The only prot spell that I personally don't bother swapping for is rof most the time, there is an advantage to be had, but it is completely miniscule.
